Hi TryingToDrawaBox, I've checked your challenge submission.

Congratulations on completing the challenge, while for what I've seen yours looks like a wild ride, I can see that you made a lot of improvement as you progressed through it; Your boxes got bigger and more confident, while you are also hitting more convergence points! However, there is still for improvement.

First of all, in a certain point of this challenge you realized that you could make that one set of the parallels from your boxes were fully parallel, and that would make everything easier since you would only have to worry about two vanishing points. Well that wasn't the point of this challenge- What you did on those boxes is called two point perspective, while the idea of this challenge is practice boxes with 3 point perspective, I recommend you go back to the box section of lesson 1 to see the difference between 1, 2 and 3 point perspective explained in a simplified way! Also, if this is topic it's still not clear, you should really go to read this, this and this section, since this is a key concept to understand moving forward.

Even though you did a lot of 2 p.p boxes, you mostly did 3 p.p, so it's not like you didn't took advantage of this challenge!

Another thing that I'm noticing is that in a lot of cases you are extending your lines however you want, in some cases you are extending them back, in others to the front and in quite a lot you are just doing both! There is a correct way which is explained in the challenge page, and that's extending them back to check how they are converging to the vanishing point. Be more careful moving on to other lessons when reading all the material.

I'm seeing you are having issues with the back corner, check this construction method next time you are warming up with some boxes!

A very big thing that you are missing in this challenge, is line weight- This is not an aesthetic choice from this course, it's a tool we have to clarify how our forms sit and relate to each other in the space we are creating. In this case, by highlighting the silhouette of our boxes, we are making showing the viewer where that box is facing and also strengthening the illusion to ourselves of how that is a 3d and solid form. Here is the explanation on this topic from the challenge page. Take all this into account movig forward to future lessons.

In a lot of boxes it looks like you are correcting your lines, try to fight this urge since all it does is making everything look messier, also, remember that all we can do to assure that our lines come as we want them to is before the actual line on the ghosting phase- So, take your time ghosting every line to assure it turns out confident and as how you plan it.

Overall, good job on pushing through this challenge, make sure that you read more carefully everything that is presented on the lesson's page and videos in future lessons, since a lot of the mistakes you did here could've been easily avoided.

One last thing however, I would advice you don't move forward with your lessons until someone has given you feedback, I know it's hard to get your work critiqued, but I advice you go to the channel called @critique-exchange from the discord server and read the pins there!

I'm gonna go ahead and mark this challenge as completed! Keep it up.

Next Steps:

Check out the critique-exchange channel on the discord server and see if you can get your other lessons critiqued before moving on to future lessons!

Thankyou very much for your time . I did those 2p perspective box because i thought i was missing on them ahaha . Oh and i hadnt understood the role of line weight at all that time . when i did line weight , the more puzzling the box looked to me so i sort of avoided it back then . But as you suggested it , i will look back to it . thanks .

And since the work wasnt critiqued , i couldnt stay doing nothing so i moved on to next lesson . I really appreciate your critiques and will look at the links again and also remember it for future lessons.

THANKYOU VERY MUCH !!

The recommendation below is an advertisement. Most of the links here are part of Amazon's affiliate program (unless otherwise stated), which helps support this website. It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.
PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
