Hey, folks! I can finally send in the 250 boxes I had kept hidden.

Thanks in advance for any critiques. Sorry for any problems since I had to cut some parts of the pages which had been damaged.

Hey! Seems like the photos are disordered (as well as the order of he boxes on the pages), so it's a bit hard to decipher what's happening on your homework. Could you upload your homework with the pages ordered? Then I'll correct it.

Hi, I am so sorry for it, but I just uploaded it. Thanks in advance!

Ok, so let's start with this critique:

The good things

  • I see more accurate boxes directed to their respective vanishing points.

  • Line quality also improved

Overall in this part, it's accuaracy and quality respective to your first page. I know that this part is short, but if something is missing, it's simply because is correct!

Now, let's go with the big part of the critique, the things that could be improved/the mistakes.

  • I SAW YOU USED TIPPEX, AND THAT'S ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN. You have to accept the possible errors that you can make during the creation of boxes. Once it's done, it's done. No corrections. For example boxes 52, 55, 71, 73 and many more have some tippex used.

  • I think your pages could be cleaner on the presentation, so try to keep everything clean and ordered for your reviewer. It's easier to review a cleaner job than an absolute mess

  • Some boxes won't intersect in their respective vanishing points because their edges are parallel. Boxes 162, 164 and 65, for example, have this issue. Box 190 is an example of how you could make the edges intersect subtly

  • There are boxes where you extended your lines in the wrong direction (look at boxes 133, 134 and 135 for example). Even in the latest boxes this happens (box 247, for example). You have to extend directed to the vanising point, away from the viewer (check https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/149200bd.jpg)

  • I see you have troubles making the inner edge intersect in the vanishing point. I recommend you checking the method that ScyllaStew uses (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mteUPdCHn4s) with a little tweak; extend your ghosting line to the vanishing point. I recommend you doing this so you get an accurate inner edge that intersects in the right place.

  • You need to work on the line weight of the boxes (https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/980a575e.jpg)

  • Your boxes ended up being all tapered at the end. You could've made bigger boxes, instead of filling a page with too many little boxes.

I think that's most of the issues I've seen. Overall, it's a nice work, but many of these points are important, and you should be aware of them. So, I'll ask you to do some revisions before moving on

Next Steps:

I want you to do 35 boxes taking into account all the points I told you earlier. Make bigger boxes, DON'T USE TIPPEX, extend your arm during the ghosting method to the vanishing point, extend the lines during the corrections to the correct vanishing points (directing your lines away from the viewer), work on your line weight, etc...

Once finished, come back and post your revisions.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
