Lesson 1: Lines, Ellipses and Boxes

Hello Everyone,
first of all I'd like to thank you for this awesome opportunity!!!
I had great fun going through the lessons and doing the exercises!
While doing them, I encountered a problem. One of the first things taught is to draw from the shoulder, not the wrist. Now I found myself drawing from my elbow far too often, and to me, the lines appear very much straight (for handdrawn lines), the issue: as I draw on regular A4 sheets (I suppose they are called 9x11 inch sheets in the US?), meaning i can not draw very long lines, thus I have no optical feedback. On this length, the lines drawn from shoulder and elbow appear just as straight, yet I fear further developing a bad habit of drawing from the elbow, rather than the shoulder. Surely, If I were to draw longer lines, it would be fairly obvious which were drawn in what way.
Whenever I catch myself doing so, I immediately correct, yet seem to slip back into it after just a few minutes.
Maybe you know a trick or strategy that which helps?
Thank you!
