I appreciate the critique! I will admit I was struggling a bit as I was largely ignoring the 50% rule until recently since I want to get as good as possible as fast as possible to advance as quickly as possible towards working professionally; I also had a 1.5 month hiatus where I did very little between page 1 and page 2 of the textured sausages due to burnout from this, along with other outside pressures. I'm now doing a lot more work outside the exercises related purely to drawing from 2d and realworld reference without worrying about construction in order to help with my visual library which is severly lacking, along with all my other issues. So yeah, the only thing I care about is honest criticism, so no need to apologize. I'd be more upset to be given the greenlight to move on when I'm not ready rather than take honest critique.

Everyone wants to get as good as they can as fast as possible, but like you experienced this leads to burn out. You'll often grow faster doing 30 minutes of mindful practice a day rather than 6 hours a day and burning out by the end of the week.

As for your resubmission, your forms are still getting a bit complex as well as suffering from flat edges at times. Your organic intersection forms are much too complex and floating rather than wrapping around one another.

I'll be asking you to redo these 3 pages again, not only to make sure you show an understanding of what's being asked here but to make sure you don't develop holes in your skill set that will take longer to fill than if you took your time in the first place.

  • 1 page of organic intersections.

Tried adding cast shadow near where the larger form starts to pinch slightly as well, feels incorrect unless the form is being pushed in fairly dramatically there

This is definitely a step in the right direction.

Some of your forms do get a bit complex still, and you're still turning them very sharply which leads to flat edges but it's an improvement over your previous attempts.

Your shadows do make sense here but don't be afraid to push them further.

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
