Hello I’ll be taking a look at your lesson 1 homework.

Lines

-Starting with the superimposed lines, these are off to a great start as you have always started at a clearly defined point and kept all of the wavering one side, your lines show little wobbling and fraying, so overall you nailed this exercise.

-Moving on to the ghosted lines, these are also drawn with a good deal of confidence, and I like to see that you had your lines following a consistent trajectory even if they are going to miss the ending dot. You have some problems with overshooting lines, so for your next practices you can try to take them to the next level trying the approach highlighted here.

-The ghosted planes are no different from the ghosted lines, here your linework is looking solid and confident.

Ellipses

-Starting with the tables of ellipses these are looking very tidy instead of rushed and I can see that you have kept the spacing. alignment and degree of the ellipses in mind. Keep working on having them fitting snugly within the rectangle, and keep in mind that accuracy tends to come with mileage and can’t really be forced now.

-The ellipses in planes are turning out well, but there is one thing to keep in mind here. Always aim to draw symmetrical and evenly shaped ellipses, don’t focus too much on having them touch the four sides of the plane as it can make them distorted and wobbly. . You might be thinking that the center of the ellipses is the same as the center of the planes or that you should modify the elliptical ellipse shape so it touches the contact points, but this is not the case.

-The ellipses in the funnels are looking confidently drawn and you are doing a good job aligning them to the minor axis line and having them cut in equal halves, the spacing is good too. Overall you did a pretty good job in this section

Boxes

-Starting with the rough perspective, I think you got confused with the assigned number of pages as you did 2 for the plotted perspective and 1 for the rough perspective when it was the opposite, so you are missing one page of rough perspective Anyway, from what I can see you are doing a good job aligning the sides of the boxes to the horizon line but I do have one thing to call out. Don’t draw your lines multiple times, if you make a mistake it is better to leave it like that, don’t draw over it as it only makes it stand out more.

-Your rotated boxes are turning out very nicely as you have kept the gaps between them narrow and the rotation is clearly there. Some parts of your linework look a little sketchy, one thing that can help you with this exercise is to use as much available on your page as possible, this way you can make more accurate and confident marks.

-Finishing with the organic perspective, here the linework is looking good overall, your boxes perspective have some issues, but you will work on them on the box challenge.

You did a great job in this lesson, so I’ll mark this lesson as complete and move you to the box challenge

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
