Lesson 3: Applying Construction to Plants
6:24 PM, Wednesday July 8th 2020
For this submission I've taken a different approach compared to my last ones due to the fact that I struggled a lot with two specific parts.
For some reason I have significant trouble with drawings that deal with flow. The arrows I've had to redraw many times and for the leaves that bend I have around 5 full pages of crossed out constructions. I even felt fully confident when constructing the Easter Lilly plant with cones instead of bending leaves. I have asked the discord twice for advice on arrows and leaves, and they've been helpful, but I still find myself making different mistakes on the same drawings. If I have to redo any of these that's completely fine with me, and if there are any equivalent exercises for flow like how the 250 box challenge helps with 3D space I will take those on.
When it comes to branches and construction, I have little trouble and feel completely confident whenever I start a plant (to the point where I get excited while drawing and have to remember to slow down when it starts getting sloppy). So I'm not sure what is missing when it comes to arrows and leaves.
I have included all of the demos as I feel it will be better to get criticism on all the plants I've drawn compared to a select few. The plants that I'd like to include specifically (in order) are:
-
Daisy
-
Hibiscus
-
Bamboo Plant
-
Rose
-
Bonsai
-
Philodendron
-
Easter Lilly
-
Fern Bush
But I would greatly appreciate feedback on the rest of them. If you only have time for the 8 required plants I understand, this is just me trying to get as much advice as I can. Also, thank you for reading this!
