Issue Submitting Post for Promptathon Day 1

2:44 AM, Saturday March 26th 2022

When I try to submit my post for the Promptathon event for Day 1, I get the following message:

X Please resolve the following error(s):

Event submissions must use one of the provided prompts - alternatively you can post this as a sketchbook post, which do not have that requirement.

I did indeed select the "Cosmic Confectionary" option from the "Drawing Prompt" list. I've tried restarting a few times, but still no success. How should I proceed?

I've been thus far unable to reproduce the issue, although I have seen someone else run into it as well and report it on our discord. The other person was eventually able to get it to work (Elodin suggested they try opening in a different browser or in incognito mode - they said that it worked, though I'm not precisely sure what it is that worked).

If you encounter this problem again when submitting in the future, try to take a screenshot of how the form was filled out, and if there's anything else you may have done (going into a different category at first for example), be sure to mention that as well so I can try to replicate your actions accurately and find the source of the problem.

In the mean time though, I have switched your sketchbook post over to the event category and manually awarded you the associated avatar.

I had this same issue yesterday and now again today. I will try the browser trick and cross my fingers.

If you can provide a screenshot of how the form has been filled out, that would be most helpful.

This is when I tried to do it again from safari on ipad today, same issue as the previous days. Chrome allows me to do it without issue.

Thank you, Comfy. I'll try to collect and submit more troubleshooting info if it happens again. I use the Brave browser which is based on Chrome (though, my version admittedly needs updating). I could try Chrome if Brave gives me issues again. Using incognito mode would log me out, but I guess I could do a one-time login. I tried both starting with the event category and also starting with the sketchbook category before switching over to the event category; neither worked. I've not tried submitting without checking the "Permission to Share on the Drawabox Twitter" option; maybe that would affect it.

On a side note, I also got an error yesterday when I was trying to submit another kind of post. I guess it would have been a sketchbook or question/discussion post. I can't remember what it said. I may have waited too long between starting the post and trying to submit it. I recall I was able to fix that problem by refreshing the page and starting the post over (I copied my post body first).

Thank you so much for these drawing prompts; they are top notch. I really enjoy the story telling that goes along with each one. I had so much fun with yesterday's; I spent practically the whole day working on my image (I really need to speed up and experiment with my process :) ). I don't have much time today, but I'm hoping to spend an hour or two if possible. I also read a lot of other people say they are having a ton of fun. I really appreciate what you and your team do for the drawing community.

Thanks for the extra info and the kind words. I'll keep an eye on those.

You've earned them :)

I tried to post again tonight for today's prompt, and I got the same error as yesterday; so I switched from my outdated Brave browser to my (most-likely outdated) Chrome browser, logged-in, tried to submit the event post, and it worked first try.

I conclude the problem is likely that my browser needs updating.

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
