Hi, I’m Qrious K and I’ll be doing your critique today.

Organic Arrows

The arrows look good; there’s a clear use of perspective and all the edges overlap one another.

Leaves

Your construction here is clear. Since you drew flow lines and included the “basic footprint”, most of the leaves appear dynamic and visually interesting. The only exceptions to this are the leaf at the very top of the page and the one in the bottom right-hand corner. Make sure the curves connect to each other (bottom-right) and that the form still appears leaf-like (top).

Branches

I see you understand the fundamentals of the branches exercise; all the steps are clear. However, some of the branches look rushed, particularly the big one in the lower region of the page. Be sure to draw the curves from one ellipse to another. There is no need to angle the line or go in a different direction. There are visible tails throughout, which is normal, but can be reduced by taking your time.

Plant Drawings

The plant drawings all have solid constructions. The cone flower looks particularly natural, but the tulip beside it could use more flow in its petals. The white clover and the dandelion have centers that are difficult to see; be sure to leave enough room to properly render these areas (the petals of the mysterious plant on page 5 also appear truncated). The daisy seems a bit flat at the top. I recommend drawing flow lines from the center outward to make the plant look more dimensional and lively. Lastly, the pansy also looks flat, simply because it’s difficult to read the directions of the petals. Try using the same technique I mentioned for the daisy. Also refrain from drawing/inking huge areas of shadow. The detail and construction gets lost when you do that (see the cactus).

Pro Tip: Draw one plant per page. When you draw multiple on one page much of the construction and details get lost or cramped.
