Thanks. I used the robocop mech as reference though.
Thanks. I used the robocop mech as reference though.
Thanks for the quick review. I think that lesson 2 has a sink or swim approach and apparently I sank to the bottom.
I have 2 questions about the form intersections exercise.
1- I learned to draw the boxes in 250 box challenge by using Y method. In the video of form intersections they are drawn surface by surface. I tried to do it that way but had some problems you mentioned. Was I supposed to draw them with a different method?
2 - I am drawing complete blanks when it comes to how some shapes intersect. The ellipses and planes were my best guesses which apparently were not correct. I am not sure how to proceed.
Thanks for the review
No need for them to add to the image or be visible as long as you are thinking about them and trying to draw them.
The one on the top left seems to be done hastily as the line starts from nowhere and ends at nowhere (it connects to nothing)
Make sure you take your time for every line you draw.
Next Steps:
Good luck in your 250 boxes.
Thanks. I find heat pumps interesting and I tried to apply what I know about them.
The confusion is understandable. I triple checked it make sure I am not mistaken. There are 2 valid ways to do it.
1- extension lines follow the edges.
2- extension lines start from corners, and pass through the farther corners.
If you don't miss the mark and properly connect the corners there would be no difference between these 2 ways.
What you did is to connect the vanishing point with the starting corner without worrying about the farther corner or the edge. The text specifically says to not do it.

I hope this clarified the confusion.
I also believe pen isn't necessary for the extension lines as long as it can be differentiated from the rest of the lines.
Hi, I am here to give your review the 2nd agreement. Next time try to make the rotated boxes closer to each other and consider adding hatching lines( I believe it is optional).
Good luck in your 250 boxes and congratulations on your badge.
Hi, solid submission. I would like to add a few things.
Some of your ellipses are wobbly. Next time make sure you take your time and ghost as many times as you need. It seems you are prioritising even ellipses instead of tightly fitting the borders and it is great.
You have missed the corner boxes in the rotated box exercise. You should draw them before continuing. Once you have completed it I can agree with the previous review and give you your badge (if someone hadn't done it by the time).
If you are worrying about ruining the page, don't. The exercise is for learning, not looking pretty
Next Steps:
Add the missing boxes to the rotated boxes exercise
You can never learn if you think you already know it. To advance in the critique system, you need to do everything anyway. I suggest you to do give the course benefit of the doubt and do them.
Besides you are supposed to repeat them as warm ups even after you complete the whole course. So nobody is above doing lesson 1.
Good job. Very good looking exercise.
Next Steps:
Move to 250 boxes
Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.
Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.
These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.
We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.
Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
