Saw you got your homework reviewed, although im not a big fan of you submitting a second time i do agree with his review.

You'll have plenty of practice with 250 box challenge, good luck on that!

    Hi!

Plotted perspective is decent, but looks rushed.

In rough perspective you did okay, on the last page all the lines go nicely towards the VP.

Although you didnt fill the sides of some boxes with diagonal lines, and at least one box lacks an edge. So again, i believe you should be more careful with your marks.

With your rotated boxes boxes exercise you should really try and focus on neighboring lines to get as much information as possible on where the next line should go. For example boxes further away on an axis will have stronger convergence on said axis. You can also try making it a bit bigger, so its not so cluttered.

Am looking forward to your work!

Hello, ill be the one reviewing your homework.

Starting with the superimposed lines, they are a bit wobbly and on the second page you are missning the lines completely, not sure what is the reason. But noone expects you to get good marks from the get go, so they are fine, even if you do miss the end point quite a bit.

Ghosted lines are a mixed bunch too, and you are going over the lines multiple times, which will be a theme for the whole lesson. You should'nt do that, it makes it harder for people to give you feedback and for you to see what you did right\wrong.

Planes are fine, though you are trying to correct your every mistake by drawing the line multiple times. Instead take your time and plan your marks thoroughly. And if you then miss, just go with it, you did your best. Point is not to make a good piece, point is to learn. And this way you are stunting your progress. I also see some wobble, which is likely due to you being overly concerned over the accuracy of your marks. Instead you should focus on smoothness and drawing from the shoulder, accuracy will come with time and experience, you cant force it.

In your tables of ellipses they are consistently overlapping, you should try and get them as tight as possible, but not overlap. Some ellipses look like you overlapped them on purpose, or got lazy.

Eliipses in planes: a few are good, but for the most part you draw through them too many times, to mask for you mistakes. You also fail to give them the correct shape and fit them snug in the planes. Overall they are bad.

You ellipses in funnels show a clear improvement over previous exercises, good work. Though some ellipses are still completely off.

You skipped the plotted perspective and rough perspective, you should post them too.

And that definitely show in the rotated boxes. You go through your lines many times, don't really understand where the lines are supposed to go, and failed to draw all the boxes. Boxes on the horizontal\vertical axis seem to follow some order but boxes on the edges are wrong. You had a decent attempt at top right and bottom left boxes, but didnt follow through.

Organic perspective is also a fail. The lines are consistently diverging, while they should be converging. The vanishing points should be away from the viewer, boxes should get smaller the farther away they are, not bigger. That is true for almost all your boxes in those 2 pages.

    To conclude:

You should only do your marks once.

You should follow the lessons more closely.

Before i can mark your homework as complete ill have to see your plotted perspective and rough perspective exercises.

You should also redo rotated boxes and organic perspective exercises.

Please don't take offence, take it as a learning opportunity. By rushing the lessons you only slow down your progress.

Hello, i'll be the one reviewing your Homework.

    Superimposed lines:

You should focus more on starting all your lines at the same point, and page 2 is better than the first one in that regard. Your lines are also a bit wobbly, you should focus less on drawing it right on top of the previous one, and more on making it straight and smooth, accuracy will come with practice eventually.

Ghosted lines are good. There is some wobble, but already noticeably less than in previoius exercise. It is clear that you are midful of your marks, well done.

While tables of ellipses are good you are drawing through your ellipses way too many times, it should be 2 or 3 passes.

Same goes for ghosted planes with ellipses. Planes themselves are drawn good.

Funnels are better in that regard, and are done nicely.

Not much to say about plotted perspective, you did everything right. Nice touch with colors for added visibility.

In rough perspective marks look wobbly and some lines that should be vertical are not. Same goes for horizontal ones. Overall the marks you made go towards the VP, and you used extended lines to show it, which is great.

Both pages of your rotating boxes exercise look great, and i believe you were meant to struggle with it. Mark quality improved significantly. Lines are converging toward VP's , gaps between the boxes are tight and uniform. You used neighboring lines as guides for new ones. Overall great.

Same goes for organic perspective, a few odd marks here and there, but great overall.

Great job sticking it through, and good luck with 250 box challenge!

With this i mark your homework as complete. If the community agrees with me of course.

Hello, i'll be the one reviewing your work.

First, looks like you did your exercises in pencil, which is fine for unofficial submissions but i think fineliners are still better.

Superimposed lines look good, you are clearly starting your lines on a single point, lines look confident with little to no wobble.

Ghosted lines look very good, very straight and smooth, a little inaccuracy at the second point is okay, as being 100% accurate is not the point of the lesson anyways. Accuracy comes with practice.

Tables of ellipses are looking great, you are drawing the shapes smoothly. They fit within the bounds and for the most part are neatly stacked together.

Funnels are great, a few ellipses are deformed, but i believe its just because you couldn't fit them on the page.

Ghosted planes with ellipses are good too, most of the ellipses sit neatly inside the planes. But i believe you used an eraser in this exercise, which is a violation. All of your lines should be done with confidence, because you wouldn't be able to correct them afterwards, but that isn't the case with pencil of course.

    Other than that looks good.

In plotted perspective some vertical edges of the boxes are not perpendicular to the horizon, but you seem to have corrected that in the next boxes. I also believe you tried correcting some of your bad lines by drawing over them, which is a violation again.

You also crammed a lot of boxes on the page, which isnt really bad but maybe unnecessary.

Now for the rough perspective: you didn't trace your box's edges to the VP, which is important for the exercise. A lot of lines that should be horizontal are not, and the same goes for vertical lines. Boxes in this exercise have only 1 VP so you only have to worry about 4 lines going to the VP, others are either parallel to the horizon or perpendicular.

I also see you going over the marks you made to correct your mistakes, yet again. Maybe you rushed the exercise, im not sure. Also theres some eraser action again??

And while second page of this exercise is a bit better there all the same mistakes there, and you are still correcting your marks by going over them a second time.

I don't think you've closely followed instructions given to you in the exercises.

In rotating boxes there are also mistakes.

The gaps between boxes are not tight and uniform. On one side some of the edges don't go towards the VP, though you corrected it on the other sides. You also corrected some of your marks again. On this exercise mistakes tend to accumulate and the boxes might be really offset. You should try to use neighboring edges of a previous box as a guide for the next one. Also keep in mind the moving VP, thinking where each line should be converging to. It can be very hard, but a useful trick is to use neighboring lines and their relation to the line you're drawing next.

Organic perspective look rushed, while some boxes look good and you seem to be experimenting with foreshortening which is great, the overall quality of marks is pretty poor.

All in all, i don't think you missed the point of the exercises and great job sticking through them!

You need to be more patient with your boxes, and really consider where each line goes, what rules it obeys and how does it relate to other lines. Also maybe pay a bit more attention to the contents of the lesson.

You should also avoid going over your lines to try and fix them.

The purpose of the exercise is to learn, not to just complete it, and not for it to look good.

You'll have plenty of practice to correct your mistakes in the 250 box challenge.

With that i mark your homework as complete. If the community agrees with me of course.

Drawabox-Tested Fineliners (Pack of 10, $17.50 USD)

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
