    Superimposed lines

    • There is arching in your lines. Make sure you are making a straight stroke, looking toward the end point

    • Try not to go beyond or stop short the the end point of the line

    • There some wobble in the curved lines but overall your lines are confident

    Ghosted lines and ghosted planes

    • Majority are confident strokes, but some are slightly curved

    • You are hitting about half of the points, make sure to take your time ghosting and are confident in the line you are drawing

    Ellipses in ghosted planes

    • Some ellipses are wobbly but generally they fit in the planes

    Table of ellipses

    • You should only be drawing through the ellipses 2 times ideally and 3 times is okay

    • Take your time to do these - Ghost through the ellipses until you are confident

    Funnels

    • Your ellipses here are very wobbly, you should be ghosting your ellipses

    Rough perspective

    • When plotting the corners of your boxes, ghost while looking toward the vanishing point

    • Many of your lines are wobbly, ensure you are ghosting every line

    Rotated boxes

    • You have done very well in rotating the boxes

    • You should have repeated some of your lines multiple times, you should only make one confident line after ghosting unless stated otherwise

    • It seems you have left out some of the edges on the top and bottom corner boxes

    • Uncomfortable outlined in the exercise how to add line weight if the lines become confusing

    Organic perspective

    • The sense of perspective is well conveyed with different sized boxes

    • Towards the end it seems rushed as you have repeated some lines

    • There are some issues in the construction of your boxes but this will be addressed moving onto the 250 box challenge

Well done for completing the exercise

    Next Steps:

You seemed to struggle with ellipses the most so moving forward complete:

    • 1 page of table of ellipses

    • 1 page of funnels

Hello, I am so sorry for the long response. I took some time away from Draw a Box but I have reuploded my 250 box challenge onto my sketchbook with the correct link. I would be grateful if you could please still critique it.

Superimposed lines - They are smooth and confident but the longer lines arching a lot, try aim to keep them straight.

Ghosted lines - These look good but it seems you have gone over few lines just keep to doing one line and ghosting until you are confident to make the mark.

Ghosted planes - Very smooth, confident lines, just need to work on accurately dividing the planes in halves through the 'X'.

Ellipses in planes - These are also confident but you need to work on keeping the ellipses within the plane. Also, some seem more loose than others take you time to ghost through each one.

Table of ellipses - Your ellipses here are way too loose. You need to keep the ellipses within the bounds with each ellipse touching each other without overlapping.

Funnels - There is less overlapping of the ellipses. You also need to align your ellipses to the minor axis. You need the minor axis (the line in the middle) cutting ellipses in 2 symetrical halves.

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/14/notaligned

Plotted perspective - The hatching is quite sloppy, the lines should be tight, parallel and consistent. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/15/step8

Another thing to note is that all vertical lines should be perpendicular to the horizon line (straight uo and down). Some of yours are at an angle.

Rough perspective - The main issue is that the horizontal lines should be parallel to the horizon line and the vertical lines should be perpendicular to the horizon line. Keeping this in mind will help you construct the front and back faces of the box even if the perspective is not accurate.

I think you would benefit from going over the instructions from this exercise.

Rotated boxes- It seems you really struggled with this which is fine because it is difficult. I recommend going over the instructions again and watching the demonstration video alongside doing the exercise.

Organic perspective - The main thing that needs improvement is your contruction of boxes which will come as you move onto the 250 box challenge.

    Other tips

If you are able to, try completing each exercise on a separate sheet of paper as the ink can bleed through the page ruining the presentation of your work.

    Next Steps:

To move forward I'd saay complete the following exercises, taking into account the critiques:

Table of ellipses - 1 page

    Funnels - 1 page

    Rotated boxes

Perhaps watch videos of other students doing the exercises can help alongside the demonstration vidoes which I have linked here:

Superimposed lines - The lines seem to be smooth, just working on your accuracy really. The lines of the curves are more wobbly and have fraying at both ends. https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/1585f266.jpg

    https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/5bcda336.jpg

Ghosted lines - These lines are smooth and confident, just now to focus on accuracy.

Ghosted planes - Same comment as ghosted lines

Ellipses in planes - Some ellipses are wobbly ensure you ghost each ellipse until you are conmfortable. The ellipses must be drawn confidently, prioritizing confidence and smoothness,

    over accuracy

Table of ellipses - Same comment as ellipses in planes.

Funnels - Same comment as ellipses in planes. You did well on aligning the ellipse to the minor axis.

Rough perspective - You have drawn over some lines, ensure you ghost each lline until you are comfortable. Also, some horizontal lines are not aligned with the horizon line. Refer to this link https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/guessing

Rotated boxes - Good attempt, however, it seems too wide. Boxes further away from the centre should be more rotated. Refer to this image https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/9a2db6a0.jpg

Oragnic perspective - For the most part this is good just that the construction of boxes needs improvement which will improve as you move onto the 250 box challenge.

    Next Steps:

Try include ellipse exercise into your warmup. Take your time to ghost each one. It takes some patience but it will get better with time.

Superimposed lines - These look good, the lines aren't wobbly, there isn't fraying at the starting point and there isn't much arching.

Ghosted lines- Most lines seem smooth and confident. A few have some slight arching but overall good, now just to focus on accuracy. Ensure you are taking your time to ghost each line.

Ghosted planes - Same comments as ghosted lines but you aren't dividing the plane in halves through the 'X' lines (see image from link pasted). Perhaps rewatch the demonstration video again.

    https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/8bee19e4.jpg

Ellipses in planes - These are good - smooth and confident. Now just work on keeping the ellipses within the plane

Table of ellipses - Again, your lines are smooth but in many cases your ellipses are not fitting within the bounds and the ellipses are not touching. I also suggest drawing ellipses with varying degrees/angles. I recommend going over this exercise's instructions again (linked). https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/tablesofellipses

Funnels - Many of your ellipses are not aligned to the minor axis. The minor axis (the line in the middle) should cut ellipses in 2 symmetrical halves.

    https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/58039837.jpg

Rough perspective - Quite a few horizontal lines don't align with the horizon line - these should be parallel. The vertical lines should be perpendicular to the horizon line. Also ensure you are ghosting your lines. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/guessing

Rotated boxes - This was a good attempt as this a difficult exercise. The top left box is corner seems like it is sticking out, the corners should be kept close.

Organic boxes - It seems you are struggling to construct boxes which is fine as you go on to the 250 box challenge you will understand more and get better. This Y genertator can be used as a tool to help. https://tasty-tangy-meeting.glitch.me/. Besides, this your boxes gradually get bigger as they come closer. This image may also help https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/40c53985.jpg.

    Next Steps:

I'd suggest retrying the following exercises applying the corrections as part of your warm up:

    Ghosted planes

    Funnels

    Rough perspective

    Oragnic perspective

Superimposed lines - Generally good but for longer lines, your lines seem to start arching toward the end

Ghosted lines - It seems that this exercise is missing. Perhaps you forgot to include it. If you have skipped, it please complete the excercise.

Ghosted planes - You have only completed 1 out of 2 pages for this exercise, please complete it. Other than that, your lines are smooth and confident and now you can focus on improving accuracy.

Ellipses in planes - These look good - smooth and fit within the plane , they just need to tighten up. You have only completed 1 out of 2 pages for this exercise, please complete it.

Table of ellipses - Again, nice smooth ellipses that fit generally don't overlap, just try to keep them with in the boundaries .

Funnels - There is a funnel where there are many gaps between the ellipses and a funnel where the ellipses don't fit within the funnel, the others look better but some ellipses are misaligned with the minor axis. Perhaps you should go over this lesson and exercise again.

Rotated boxes - You did well in rotating the boxes but I recommend drawing them bigger.

Rough perspective - You have only completed 1 out of 2 pages for this exercise, please complete it. Despite this, most of your lines look clean but I can see some places where you redid the line, make sure you ghost until you are confident in the stroke you are making.

Organic perspective - Your lines here don't seem as confident perhaps because you were struggling to construct boxes for imagination. I'd say think about what box you are trying to draw before putting down any marks. Then plot points and ghost your lines until comfortable. Understanding the construction of boxes will come with time and will develop much more in the 250 box challenge. Make sure to read over the lesson and watch the videos on boxes again before you start the challege and during it if you get stuck.

    Next Steps:

Please complete/redo the following lessons to move forward:

    Ghosted planes - 1 page

Ellipses in planes - 1 page

Funnels - Redo (Draw 4 funnels)

    Rough perspective - 1 page

Superimposed lines - There is a lot of fraying on both ends. Try take your time move your arm across in one smooth motion, lifting the pen then starting from the initial point again. (See image pasted)

    https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/1585f266.jpg

Some of your lines seem to be arching too, ensure you are working from shoulder to move the pen straight across the page

Ghosted lines - A lot of these line are smooth and show no hestiation, now it is just working on accuracy. Try not to make the points so large.

Ghosted planes/ellpises in planes - Again, lines are smooth and confident just accuracy. As for the ellipses, the majority seem smooth they just need to tighten up. Try ghosting more before placing the pen on the page and only drawing throught the ellipse twice.

Table of ellipses - The major mistake here is that the ellipses should be kept within the bounds, each

ellipse touching each other, without overlapping, yours have gaps in between. Despite this the ellipses are smooth.

Funnels - You have aligned the ellipses with the minor axis well but again there should be no gaps between the ellipses.

Rough perspective - Some of the lines are wobbly and seem rushed. Ensure you are taking your time to ghost each line.

To improve accuracy you can ghost from a corner to vanishing point to get a sense of the angle of the box edges.

Rotated boxes - This a very challenging exercise and you made a good attempt. It seems you have missed out some boxes (refer to the pasted image). It is a lot easier to do if you draw the boxes bigger. https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/5f4fef59.jpg

Organic perspective -It seems you are struggling to constuct boxes and it seems as through you rushed through the exercise. Your boxes also don't seem to gradally increase in size indicating the boxes are getting closer and closer, the change in size seems abrupt. I'd say watch and read over the boxes lessons again.

    Other advice

I really advice working on loose sheets of A4 paper rather than a sketch book. That way you can rotate the page in anyway and your hand can rest comfortably on the table flat and use your full range of motion with ease. It doesn't have to be anything fancy just printer paper will do. This is really important moving forward.

Please watch the videos and read the text provided so you don't make common mistakes that are already addressed.

Ensure you take your time to ghost each line, it takes a lot of patience but if you don't do the exercises as asked you may not get the most out of them.

    Next Steps:

To improve, please read/watch over the following lessons:

Table of ellipses - Redo a table full of ellipses with no gaps

Funnels - Do 3 funnels with no gaps between the ellipses

Rotated boxes - Redo this following the image provided, try make the boxes bigger (it is difficult but try your best)

Organic perspective - Take your time in understanding how boxes are constructed from the lesson, it seems you were struggling and this may make doing the 250 box challenge more difficult

Perhaps watch videos of other students doing the exercises can help which I have linked

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAD55EJt_pjE_7O1-A6W2kg and https://www.youtube.com/c/ScyllaStew/videos

    Thank you for the critique!

For the ghosted planes I did ghost my lines for the cross. I didn't know where had to plot points.

My ellipses have become smoother and accurate now with daily practise.

I found the rough perspective very hard but it is has improved I think.

Ii will ghost my lines more and have already been plotting points before commiting to lines while doing the 250 box challenge and find it very helpful.
