I think you may have the wrong link, I'm getting a 404.

Heya, I'll have a crack at a review

    Lines

You're using dots to mark the start and end of lines, which is good, and suggests you are using the ghosting method. There is however some degree of line wobble/curvature. This could indicate you're using your shoulder pivot, or are perhaps goint too slowly.

Remember to prioritize confidence over accuracy, and the accuracy will come with time.

    Ellipses

Nice variety of ellipse shapes, and you are drawing through them multiple times. Generally keeping within the bounds too, with little wasted space.

There are a few small ellipses in the funnels task that look rushed but other than that they look great.

    Boxes

Boxes look good, just the same wobble again occasinally present, and the lines not meeting their destination. Make sure you ghost all your lines before drawing, and then commit.

Rotated boxes look very good, you have demonstrated a good ability to draw the same box in different rotations, and the shading makes the shape look coherent.

Great job overall, I would say you're ready to develop your perspective skills in the next challenge.

    Next Steps:

Line technique appears improved by the end of the submission, but make sure to keep ghosting, draw from the shoulder, and execute your lines with swiftness and confidence.

Onto the 250 Box Challenge! It's a marathon not a sprint, so stock up on printer paper and enjoy the process.

Hey, I am also just beyond Lesson 1 but I'll take a crack at a critique. Feel free to point out where I have made the same mistakes!

    Lines

This section seems to be missing from the album. In general I can see you are using dots to mark the start and end point of lines for ghosting, which is good practice, however there seems to be a fair degree of wobble in your lines. Remember to prioritize confidence over accuracy, and the accuracy will come with time.

    Ellipses

You have a nice variance in your ellipses, with different shapes and sizes, and you seem to be good at keeping them within the bounds in the tables exercise.

I would suggest you are maybe drawing through your ellipses a few too many times - it can be hard to tell which ellipse came first and which was an overdrawn version, and therefore it's hard to accurately judge some of them. You also don't want to accidentally learn to rely on overdrawing to 'fix' mistakes with your original ellipse. The ideal number of drawthroughs is 2-3.

    Boxes

Boxes are nicely drawn through, and it's generally easy to tell which is the front face even on those without shading.

The boxes in the plotted perspective could use some more variance, maybe with some larger ones, or some that are flatter/longer. Don't be afraid to let them overlap.

You've kept a nice circular shape on the rotated boxes challenge (must better than I managed...) The inner ring looks great, then there are a few minor perspective errors further out, but generally very nicely done.

I'd say the organic perspective pages are some of your best work! Some lines are missing the aspect of boxes getting larger on one end, but as for the boxes themselves, you display a clear understanding of perspective. Remember to use dots to mark out the box corners to avoid overshooting. Your lines also look more confident here.

Overall great job! You can clearly see your progress through out the lesson.

    Next Steps:

Just missing the Superimposed Lines and Ghosted Lines exercises.

If you no longer have these pages I would recommend doing the exercises again, mainly to have a complete submission but also just to lock in your line technique to minimise wobble.

After that, see you at the 250 box challenge submission!

    Hi Kotka,

Wow this is great, detailed feedback and more than I had hoped for! Much appreciated, I agree with all your points and will implement your tips for the next exercise.

    Have a great week :)
