    hey Maht!

hope you are having a great day/night

i just checked your submissions and one thing i noticed in the lines exercise is that you are fraying as its discussed in the lesson that students make that mistake like the starting point of the ghosted lines and curves are all on one point but you may overshoot or get a bit out of line with the second point which is completely fine! you did get better in the planes which is great

love the elipses and the rotated boxes exercise u nailed them!

in the rough perspective exercise however i noticed that your lines for the boxes were a little shaky which means you are slowing down to make the lines straight but they end up wobbly so i would suggest just go for one nice long ghosted stroke and make sure u ghost it many times and dont slow down or stop in points to try and do a perfectly straight line cuz if u slow down the line will appear wobbly

    Next Steps:

so just to get a little more clear to u i would like you to do one more page of rough perspective and lemme see them boxes nice and confident ok!!!

    you got this!!

    hey there!

i just went thru your submissions and well done! most of them are really great! u followed the instructions and performed as best as u could so good job for that

i will say in the organic intersections some of the shadows feel a little short and you could've had added some more dynamic sausage forms with a variety of sizes

but over all i think u did pretty amazing so be proud haha

alright on to the 250 box chllenge u go

    have fun! and stay safe!

    Next Steps:

for the 250 boxes just remember to not burn yourself out and take it slow and really understand the 3d nature of boxes

omg thanks u so so much for such indepth, detailed critique!!! I very much appreciate all of the effort you put to go thru all my work and give me critique even when i dont give many myself which i should but everything with college and stuff gets in the way but in any case thanks a lot for all the advice!!! I do notice my mistakes of tending to fill textures in and excessive livne weight so i will work harder to not make those again and be mindful of where and how i use line weight so thank you onnce again!!

i hope u have a great day ahead and stay safe!! and good luck to you too!!!!

hey i just went thru your submission! i think you did a pretty good job but i would like to mention a few things

ok so first of all about the organic arrows, dont be afraid to make the arrows bigger as they get close to the viewer that way it'll feel more in perspective and organic

the counter spheres and curves are well done you did a good job there!!

the texture gradients i feel like they gave u trouble which is the reason they dcould use some more work like the shadows feel like they are haphazardly done so i would suggest that pay closer attention to your refrence and take your time with them try using a small section of the ref then pay attention to that study it and then get it down on the sheet so i'm gonna ask you do that that one again with the same refs if you like or different ones thats up to you!!!

i think you did good with the textures but as advice i would say be bold with your silhouettes and pay close attention to cast shadows and try wrapping the textue around the organic forms practise that when you go for the nextt lesson as warm ups

and lastly the organic interactions, i think you did good with those so well done!!

i hope this is helpful to you and sorry if i'm not the best at giving advice you did great tho and i'm proud of you!!!

    Next Steps:

so i'm just gonna hold off on marking the lesson as complete and ask you do a page of the texture gradients and do the paper one again along with same or different textures as asked in the homework!!

    good luck!!

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
