Thank you for the critic Bluair!
Thank you for the critic Bluair!
Thanks man, certainly gonna focus a little more of my warm ups around elipses to make them better.
Yeah, I'm not sure if you can edit it though, it is probably okay to upload it again.
Your welcome man!
congratulations on finishing lesson 1 let's see what you've got here.
Lines
Super Imposed Lines: I see many of your lines are a bit wobbly, there is no need to make so many big lines, you can do smaller or medium size ones that will help you to focus on getting used to using the shoulder muscles to draw, focus on making the lines flow, accuracy will come with practice. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/8/wobbling
Ghosted Lines: Againg some of the lines are wobbly, but for the most part you did a great job. You don't need to be as organized as you ware in the beginning keeping the lines one on top of the other, you can do it, but I just feel like you should focus on exercising and not on making the paper presentable. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/9/example
Ghosted Planes: I think you did a great job in here overall, well done.
Ellipses
Tables of Ellipses: I see some of your ellipses are floating a little bit, try to keep them connected to all sides of it, touching the ellipses and the lines around them, no ellipse should be alone, although your ellipses have a nice flowing stroke to them good job on that.
Ellipses in Planes: You did a nice job in here, ellipses are well drawn and most of their sides are touching their surroundings, well done.
Ellipses in Funnels: Nice job on the funnels as well! ellipses are very nicely done.
Boxes
Plotted Perspective: Nice job on plotted perspective, nothing to add here, congrats.
Rough Perspective: again you did nicely, keep practicing.
Rotated Boxes: Lovely job in here, some of the boxes are a bit misaligned but I think it ended up with a believable perspective.
Organic Perspective: You did really well in here too, sure perspective is quite criticizable but you'll learn a ton about it in the next exercise so don't mind about it for now.
Next Steps:
I think you did really great overall and I'd say that I can already see some improovement in your work, I think you are ready to go forwards with the 250 boxes challenge if you didn't started already, good luck ahead soldier ^^
I think you only posted one image, either that or the link is glitchted, but I can only see the Super Imposed Lines.
congratulations on finishing lesson 1 let's see what you've got here.
Lines
Super Imposed Lines: I see you ware fraying on both ends, it is normal to fray in one end since accuracy comes with practice, but try to start your lines from the point you've designated to be the beginning https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/8/fraying .
Ghosted Lines: some of your lines are overshooting the second dot, that is not a big deal, but just try to stop the pen when hitting the second point, if you still have some problem with it check this link https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/9/lifthand
Ghosted Planes: you did a really good job on the ghosted planes, nothing much to say here.
Ellipses
Tables of Ellipses: Great job in here with the ellipses.
Ellipses in Planes: You did the exercises correctly and I see you even pointed out your own mistakes, nice job here too.
Ellipses in Funnels: Well done in here too, I see you did some different shapes in there too but I think that is alright.
Boxes
Plotted Perspective: everything normal here, the boxes are nicely done.
Rough Perspective: I see some of your lines are a little bit wobbly, don't be afraid to be inaccurate, focus on your flow and accuracy will come with practice, if you miss a line just keep going, I know it can be a little frustrating but it helps you to lose the habit of trying to correct the lines with multiple strokes.
Rotated Boxes: good job on the rotated boxes.
Organic Perspective: nothing much to add here, your organic perspective looks nice to me.
Next Steps:
overall you did a really good job on lesson 1, your lines are nicely done and I think you are ready to start the 250 boxes challenge, nothing wrong with keeping track of time btw, and trust me, the 250 boxes challenge will take a little longer then lesson 1 but don't quit, be patience and you'll be able to see your own growth in the long run. Keep up the good studies.
You're welcome man!
congratulations on finishing lesson 1 let's see what you've got here.
Lines
Super Imposed Lines: you did fray on both ends on some of the lines but I see most of them are correct.
Ghosted Lines: You did great, nothing much to say in here.
Ghosted Planes: Your lines look clean, very nice job in here.
Ellipses
When it comes to accuracy and flow you did well in all of the exercises the only thing I would point out is that you may have overdrawn some of the ellipses. Ellipses must be drawn through ellipses 2 to 3 times (2 times preferably), don't go much over that.
Boxes
Plotted Perspective: Overall great, nothing to mention.
Rough Perspective: I feel like you did too many boxes in one space, it would be better to make something simillar to the homework example https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/15/example and divide the sheet of paper in two or three parts to practice the same exercises and limit the amount of boxes in them, that way things will look cleaner in the end and it'll be easier for yourself to see your own perspective mistakes in the exercises, although the exercise itself was done correctly.
Rotated Boxes: some of the boxes aren't rotating that much https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/notrotating and I would make this exercise a little bigger so things are a bit cleaner.
Organic Perspective: I'd vary a bit more the boxes sizes, but you did it well
Next Steps:
congratulations, I see you did your best in those lesson 1 exercises, you have clean lines and I would say you are ready to go to the 250 boxes challenge if you didn't do it already.
congratulations on finishing lesson 1 let's see what you've got here.
Lines
Super Imposed Lines: You did correct, your lines are straight and you've focused on their flow, their accuracy will get better with more practice, the only problem I noticed is that you are fraying in both ends, it's okay to fray in one since accuracy comes with time but try to start the line from the designated point. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/8/fraying
Ghosted Lines: Nice job with the ghosted lines, with time and practice they'll become straighter and more accurate, but you are doing very good for now
Ghosted Planes: Again I feel like you did a good job in here as well, nothing much to say.
Ellipses
You did an overall good job on the ellipses flow, the only major problem that I noticed in your exercises is that many of your ellipses ware escaping the bounds around them I'll give it an example of the Ellipses in funnels exercise but that happened a bit in other exercises too: https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/13/loose
Boxes
Plotted Perspective: Looks correct to me, nothing to mention here.
Rough Perspective: I feel like some of your lines are a bit wobbly, remember to try to prioritize confidence over accuracy (accuracy itself will come with time). https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/9/wobbling
Rotated Boxes: I feel like some of the boxes aren't rotating that much and some of the internal lines of the box in the middle ware missing, but overall well done. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/notrotating
Organic Perspective: some of the lines ware overshooting a little but the exercise was well done.
Next Steps:
Very nice, I feel like the bigger part of your mistakes are common and will be solved with practice, but I can see you did your best and you are ready to start the 250 boxes challenge if you didn't already.
Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.
The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
