hello thanks for the advice it helped me a lot!
i have some examples of me practicing. im not sure if its right but i attempted haha....
for #1 in the example, i have no idea where to start and end the line?
hey there thanks so much for helping me out!
i did notice my lines change direction too much, so i tried to practice that (no clue if it is correct but)
what counts as an edge ? for example im having a lot of trouble on #1 in the image example. if i draw a line where do i stop the line?
sorry i still dont really understand how you "choose one line" where do you start to draw the line?
thanks thats a good idea ill try it from now on :)
ohhh i see what u mean! yeah i dont know lol.... mabye my observation skills are off i just cant seem to draw the right shape no matter what i do. perhaps drawing longer flow lines(?) might help me out. thanks for the demo!!
hi just wanted to say i think i figured everything out, thanks for helping me!
im still struggling to understand haha.... I did ask a bit about it but in the end I still couldnt get it around my head. if its not too much trouble (no worries if you dont want to) would you be Okay showing how you did it step by step with video or ?
i think actually seeing someone elses attempt/how they did it, it will possible help me a lot.
thanks so much for trying to help me!
Thanks! ok from my understanding now theres two verisons (?) of the minor axis.
1) The minor axis splits the 2D ellipse into two equal, symmetrical halves, down its narrowest dimension
2) The minor axis can be drawn as a line running through the center/spine of the 3D cylinder.
and for the cylinder checking we are using #1? and ignore #2?
https://imgur.com/a/F9a30dT I tried to check one step by step not sure if i did it correctly
Its all good thanks! i can understand it a bit better now. when correcting the minor axis i see you extended the (yellow line) towards the viewer? isnt it suppose to go back towards the back vanishing point?
While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.
The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
