Hi, great job on completing Lesson 1!

You're off to a good start on your Superimposed lines as there's only fraying at the end of your lines. You are showing great use of using your shoulder and the ghosting method especially on the longer lines. Moving onto your Ghosted Lines, you also exhibit good use of your shoulder and the ghosting method. Same goes towards your ghosted planes, overall it's very well done. I really like how you filled up the entire page and squeezed in a plane wherever you could.

Looking at your ellipses, I'd first like to say that you only need to draw through your ellipses 2-3 times. Some of your ellipses are drawn through more than 3 and that isn't very necessary, but I do like how the ellipses stayed consistent and shows how confident you are in your line work. Your Table of Ellipses shows off your confidence greatly and your Ellipses in Planes as well. Good job on your Ellipses in Funnels, they're properly aligned to the minor axis and there isn't gaps between the ellipses.

Good job on your Plotted Perspective, but there's a slight problem with your hatching. There's noticeable wobbling with your lines and some look rushed. Everything on Plotted Perspective should be done with a ruler even the hatching. Hatching should also be treated just like any other regular line by using the ghosting method and being evenly spaced from one another. You show great understanding of drawing the lines back to the vanishing point on Rough Perspective. But, don't feel the need to redo your lines even if you mess up. Even if you do mess up a line, you should continue onto the next one as if you drew it perfectly. Onto your Rotated Boxes, the same thing about hatching applies here as well. Asides from that, your boxes are neatly rotating and are evenly spaced from another, good job. Your Organic Perspective also fall under the avoid repeating lines category but asides from that, well done.

Overall, you show great growth and understanding in Lesson 1 and I'll be marking this as complete. Additionally I'd like to suggest you incorporate 10 - 15 minute warmups in future lessons / exercises such as the Ghosted Lines or Ellipses in Planes to help with your line work and confidence. Asides from that, good luck on the 250 Box Challenge!

Hi, great job on finishing Lesson 1!

Looking at your lines, you're starting off well by avoid fraying at the beginning of your lines. Your longer lines tend to arch more noticeably but you'll get more work on that in future lessons as this is the start. On your Ghosted Lines, your lines show very minimal wobbliness and exhibit good use of the ghosting method and using your shoulder. One side note that is prevalent throughout your work is your tendency to overshoot pass your plotted point. It's not a major issue right now but can be in future lessons, I suggest trying to lift your pen immediately once you hit the dotted point. It'll take a bit of practice but you'll definitely get the hang of it. That leads me into my next suggestion in which is to do warm ups before you start the lessons / exercises. Taking 10 - 15 minutes practicing the ghosting method or drawing ellipses can greatly benefit you. Moving on from that, your Ghosted Planes are fantastic, your lines are confident and show good use of using your shoulder.

Switching over to Ellipses, well done on both pages of your Table of Ellipses, you experimented with different shapes and sizes and filled every spot possible with an ellipse. Your Ghosted in Planes are great as well, your ellipses are touching all sides of the planes and your line work continues to show confidence as well. On Ellipses in Funnels, good job on aligning them properly to the minor axis and fitting them snuggly between each other. An overarching issue across your work is your ellipses slightly wobble here or there. You don't need to worry about that as you'll get more practice in the future, I would also 100% suggest doing it in your warm ups too.

On your boxes, firstly, when you hatch lines, make sure you treat them just like any other line and use the ghosting method and using your shoulder. Don't rush them and make sure you take your time on each line as it'll make your work more well-done. Another issue is when applying line weight, is that you only need to apply one ghosted stroke on top of the other line. Don't try to add multiple and make sure you don't do quick strokes on top of it either. Your Plotted Perspective is decent, when you hatch your lines make sure you use a ruler when drawing them and don't feel the need to redo your lines. On Plotted Perspective, you're doing a great job on drawing your lines to the vanishing point and experimenting with drawing boxes from different angles. Your Rotated Boxes is very well done, the boxes are rotating and are evenly spaced. Same as your Organic Perspective, your boxes are changing shapes, getting bigger and smaller, and different rotations.

To summarize, you're showing great signs of growth throughout your work, just remember what I said about hatching, line weight, and redoing your lines. I totally again suggest to do warm-ups in your future lessons and keep at it. I'll be marking this lesson complete, good luck on the 250 Box Challenge !! !

Hi, great job on finishing Lesson 1!

Your off to a good start on your superimposed lines, there's no fraying at the start and you kept it to a minimum at the end. On to the Ghosted Lines, you're exhibiting good use of the ghosting method by plotting your points and using your shoulder. It seems that when the lines are longer, your lines tend to slightly arch or some of your smaller lines there's a slight wobble. There's no need to worry on that as you'll get more practice with drawing lines in the future. Additionally, in future lessons I suggest warming up before you do the lessons / exercises using the ghosting method to get more practice with your line work. Your Ghosted Planes fall under the same problem as your Ghosted Lines, with slight wobbles here and there. Just remember to draw confidently and don't hesitate when making a stroke, since you're using the ghosting method, the line you'll execute will be straight and there'll be no need to slow down. Asides from that, great job at not overshooting or undershooting and plotting points.

Next, great job at filling up your Table of Ellipses and experimenting with different sizes and shapes. Your ellipses tend to exhibit the same issue with your lines, a lack of confidence. It's very evident that they're noticeably wobbly on the first page of Table of Ellipses, but on the 2nd page of Table Ellipses they're very well done and good job on that! Amazing work on keeping your ellipses inside of the planes and touching all 4 sides of it as well. Your Ellipses in Funnels are also nicely aligned to the minor axis and are neatly packed in between with each other. The overall issue present in your ellipses is the wobbliness, and just like the lines, don't worry about this too much as you'll get more practice with ellipses in the future.

Moving on, great use of hatching on your Plotted Perspective and using a ruler to hatch them as well. Your Rough Perspective shows a great timeline of your progress as you progress through each set of boxes. There's a great difference between your 1st page and 2nd page, amazing job. Your Rotated Boxes is amazing, they're clearly rotating, less wobbly lines, and they're evenly spaced from one another. But also remember to put the same effort in drawing the boxes as when you hatch as it'll make your work more clean. Use the ghosting method and make sure they're evenly spaced. Additionally, when you apply lineweight, it looks like you might be going over the box multiple times? If you're not then totally disregard this statement and apologies, but remember when you apply lineweight is to ghost over the line once. Great job on organic perspective and rotating your boxes, your line confidence has definitely improved.

Overall, you show great improvement throughout these exercises and exhibit excellent understanding of the lessons. Just remember to practice your line work and practice that line confidence when working on your strokes. I 100% suggest you add warm ups as it'll greatly benefit you on your journey throughout DaB. I'll be marking this lesson complete and good luck on the 250 Box Challenge !!

Tysm for the critique! Here's my redo of the Organic Intersections: https://photos.app.goo.gl/kBePmLovh9VUd8Kn8

I tried to make my sausages bigger which took a lot of space on the page and so I tried squeezing in a couple more but then they just got worse and smaller so I decided to try not to push it.

Hi, great job on finishing Lesson 1!

First off with your Superimposed Lines, great job overall on plotting and drawing your lines from start to end. Slight fraying on both ends from a couple of lines but you kept to a minimum.

Your Ghosted Lines and Ghosted Planes are coming off well, I would like to remind you that to be using the ghosting method to draw your lines confidently. Some of your lines slightly wobble or arch, but that's alright because you'll get more practice with using the ghosting methods in future Lessons / Challenges. Undershooting / Overshooting or not hitting the desired plotted dot is alright, accuracy isn't the main focus and you should be focusing a lot more on confident strokes.

Good job on drawing through your ellipses and experimenting with different widths and lengths on Table of Ellipses. Some of them though are not as confident but again, and you exhibit the same problems on Ellipses in Planes as well. This may be because you're trying to ensure that they fit well inside the boundaries/ touch all sides of the plane but you shouldn't worry on accuracy as much and remember to rely on muscle memory with the use of the ghosting method.

A minor issue I see with your Funnels, is that the boundaries aren't properly aligned with the minor axis causing them to be misaligned. Another misalignment issue was because you tend to draw some of your ellipses at a slight angle.

Another minor issue but with your Plotted Perspective, is that you should be hatching your lines with a ruler, as every line drawn on this exercise should be done with a ruler.

You did a decent job on your Rough Perspective, your lines are more wobbly which similar like before, you're drawing boxes and more concerned on the accuracy. Remember to focus on using the ghosting method and creating confident strokes. Some of your boxes also aren't properly aligned with the horizon axis, remember that the vertical line should be perfectly perpendicular with the horizon and the perpendicular lines should be perfectly parallel with the horizon.

I can see you struggled with Rotated Boxes and especially with the rotated boxes on the corner. I understand that this exercise may be hard for some and I won't be making you repeat this. I'd like to remind you that it's alright to make mistakes and you shouldn't feel the need to try to repeat the line. You should simply move on to the next line and pretend as if the line was perfectly drawn in the first place. I also suggest to draw your boxes bigger so you can better analyze your mistakes when looking back.

Great job on experimenting with different orientations on Organic Perspective, again, don't feel the need to repeat your lines. There's also some slight perspective issues but you'll get more practice with it in the 250 Box Challenge.

Overall, your work is very good but you tend to lack confidence when drawing your lines especially when their boxes. Again, don't feel the need to sacrifice confidence for accuracy when drawing your lines. I highly recommend you do the Ghosted Lines exercise as a warm up in the future as it'll definitely help you in the 250 Box Challenge. Another thing I might add is to refrain from redoing your lines, it's fine to make mistakes.

Hi, great job on finishing Lesson 1!

Starting off with your Superimposed Lines, great work on only keeping fraying on the ends and drawing your line all the way to the plotted point.

Your Ghosted Lines and Ghosted Planes are exhibiting great confidence, nice job on using the ghosting method! Even if your lines may undershoot or not quite exactly hit the plotted point, we're not focusing on accuracy right now just the confidence. Some of your lines wobble subtly or arch but that's alright as it's only Lesson 1. You'll definitely get more practice with this in future lessons and challenges.

You're drawing your ellipses with good confidence as well, especially seen on your Table of Ellipses. Great job on drawing through your ellipses and keeping a consistent shape on all of them.

There is a noticeable difference on your Ellipses in Planes some of the ellipses tend to be less confidence and exhibit wobbling. This may be because you're trying to make sure the ellipses touches all sides of the plane and are slowing down to make sure they do. Remember to rely on muscle memory by using the ghosting method to confidently draw your ellipses. Either way again, you'll be getting more practice with ellipses in future lessons / challenges so no worries as of now.

Your funnels are coming along well, good work on keeping the ellipses inside the funnel and snuggly fitting the them next to each other. A small minor issue is that your funnels aren't aligned with the minor axis causing them to look off, but they're great nonetheless.

Plotted Perspective is great, a minor thing is that it looks like you didn't use a ruler when hatching, all the lines drawn in this exercise should be done with the use of a ruler.

Your Rough Perspective is great as well, your estimations to the vanishing point are good and will become better with practice. Another thing is, don't feel the need to repeat lines when they don't come out as you intended. It's ok to make mistakes and you should move on to the next line as if they were drawn correctly.

It looks like you struggled slightly on Rotates Boxes which is perfectly fine. Your outer boxes tend to not fit snuggly with the adjacent boxes and look out of place. I definitely recommend drawing them bigger next time so you can better view your mistakes. It's clear you struggled with rotating boxes at the corner but that's alright, your bottom right corner is really good.

Your Organic Pespective is good overall, well done on drawing boxes from different orientations, slight perspective problems but you'll get more practice with that in the 250 Box Challenge.

Overall, your work is very solid and you did amazing! Just remember to not repeat your lines and definitely do some of these exercises as warm ups in the future. Another thing I might add that might help you is the use of line weight and hatching on boxes. When applying line weight, you do 1 ghosted / imposed stroke on the outer lines of the box to solidify the shape. When hatching, take the time to do so and don't rush, it'll help tell the viewer which side is facing us and make your boxes look good as well. I'll be marking this submission as complete, good luck on the 250 Box Challenge!

Hi, great job on finishing the 250 Box Challenge!

Looking through your work, you show clear signs of improvement of your lines converging to the vanishing point from Box 1 all the way to Box 250.

Of course, sometimes your lines tend to converge early, converge in pairs, or diverge early but that's normal and you'll definitely improve as you progress through the lessons. It's normal to have your inner corner be the main factor of your lines diverging or converging too early and that's because it tends to be the outcome of the other mistakes you made while drawing the box. I suggest taking a look at this, https://imgur.com/8PqQLE0 , to hopefully gain a slightly better understanding of the relationship of the lines. Don't stress too much about this, you'll eventually get it.

You tend to draw very small and your box orientations tend to be the same. In the future, draw bigger and larger boxes, this will help you and others when critiquing to see your mistakes more clearly. Take a look at this to see the other possible orientations when drawing boxes, https://imgur.com/Kqg6uMX

Overall, you did really good, your work shows a clear sign of growth with your lines and your hatching. I'll be marking this lesson as complete and good luck on Lesson 2! :D

Hi, great job on finishing Lesson 1!

Great job on using the ghosting methods and executing confident lines. You aren't overshooting or undershooting which is fantastic. Though some of your lines on Ghosted Lines and both Ghosted Planes pages tend to slightly arch, wobble, or may slightly miss its mark, that can easily be fixed by practice over time as you proceed onto the next lessons.

Tables of Ellipses and Ellipses in Planes, your ellipses tend to be less confident compared to your lines. Again, this is definitely something you'll improve on as you progress through the lessons; however, remember to use the ghosting method when drawing the ellipses and draw them confidently as if they were lines. Asides from that, great job on from keeping your ellipses overlapping too much or go outside the box!

The ellipses on the Funnels exercise is much more confident compared and are also properly aligned with the minor axis which is fantastic! A minor issue on that funnel near the bottom is your ellipses were drawn at an angle, which off-centered them. But overall these are really great. :D

Both pages of Rough Perspective your lines are slightly more less confident and some boxes may not be properly aligned with the horizon axis but that's alright. It might be slightly nerve racking when drawing boxes while considering the vanishing point and all but you'll get a lot more practice with that on the 250 box challenge, with 3 vanishing points instead. Asides from that, amazing work on drawing your boxes line back to the vanishing point!

Your boxes are rotating nicely on Rotated Boxes. Some boxes are a little out of place but overall it's great!

Great job on drawing the different angles of the boxes, slight perspective issues here and there, but well done.

I'd like to remind you that you can apply line weight on the outer lines of boxes to emphasize their shape and to tell you which sides are in front. You can do this by applying a singular ghosted-stroke on top of a line. I highly suggest doing this as it's a great tool to practice and work on as it'll definitely help you in future lessons.

Overall, amazing work and I'll be marking this as complete. Good luck on the 250 Box Challenge!

Hi, great job on finishing Lesson 1! I'll be critiquing your work.

    Lines

Starting off, great job on your Superimposed lines and only keeping the wavering near the end. Ghosted Lines and Ghosted Planes are good as well, though there's slight wobbliness in your lines and some tend to curve. Keep using the ghosting method to practice on drawing consistent confident lines, I'd suggest adding Ghosted Lines as a warm up when you do future lessons for at least 10 - 15 minutes.

    Ellipses

On Ellipses in Planes, your doing good on drawing through your ellipses multiple times but they tend to be very loose some of them aren't touching all sides of the plane. This is also exhibited on your Table of Ellipses where some of your ellipses look loose as well. You tend to draw your ellipses at an angle which can create a slight problem as on the Funnels, some of your ellipses are slightly tilting causing them to misaligned with the minor axis; your funnels also aren't properly aligned with the minor axis throwing your ellipses off even further. https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/14/notaligned Once again, you'll definitely get more practice with drawing ellipses in future lessons and remember to be ghosting your ellipses confidently.

    Boxes

Starting with Plotted Perspective, just a slight problem, your hatching lines look wobbly and slightly rushed. This exercise was solely to be done in ruler but overall well done. On Rough Perspective, don't feel the need to redo your lines even if they don't come out as expected, just move onto the next line as if you drew it perfectly. Your lines are wobbling a little bit more in this exercise https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/9/wobbling which may because you're trying to be more careful as you're constructing boxes and are sacrificing your confident line making for more accuracy. Your estimations got better on what I assume is the 2nd page and you'll get better with more practice. Great job on your Rotated Boxes, drawing through your boxes and keeping the gaps consistent. Though I'd advise you to apply line weight with only 1 ghosted stroke on top of the other line; avoid doing doing chicken scratch to apply line weight. Your hatching lines look very rushed and wobbly, I definitely urge you to take time to draw the lines using the ghosted method instead of rushing. Your Organic Perspective is good, the only problem is you exhibit the same problems I've mentioned earlier with redoing lines.

    Conclusion

Overall, good job on these exercises, your have good line confidence but kind of lost it in the Box exercises. I recommend doing Ghosted Lines or Ellipses in Planes for at least 10-15 minutes as a warm up practice for future lessons, to focus on working line confidence and solidifying the shape of your ellipses. Also, don't feel the need to redo your lines, take time on hatching, and apply line weight with only 1 stroke. Once again, good job on finishing Lesson 1 and good luck on the 250 Box Challenge !
