    Hello,

good job finishing Lesson 2! Here's some tips for the future:

    • Contour curves - ellipses degrees do not vary (they should vary similarly as contour ellipses cause the curve is just visible part of the ellipse)

    • organic intersection - I thinks some cast shadows are missing? (mainly forms in second picture top left, and first form on gorund plane)

    • intersections - as line weight is only on cuts sometimes it gets a bit confusing visually - you could add a bit of line weight on intersecting lines to show which ones are in front

    • arrows could use a bit of line weight too

Good luck in your art journey!

Hello, I think you did well and can move on to the next lesson

    Here's some tips thoughs:

    • For dissections all your textures are explict - try doing some implict ones too

    • for organic intersections some of the cast shadows look very flat as if they're cutting into forms they fall on, try to make them follow the cross contours of forms they fall on

Good luck in your art journey!

    Hello,

I think you did great and can move on to next lesson,

here's some things I noticed - not really mistakes more like missed opportunities to learn:

    • For arrows apply a bit of line weight on lines that are on top of other lines

    • for dissections yours are mostly with explict textures - try some more with implict ones (dark --> light gradient)

Good luck in your art journey!

    Hello,

Heres some thing that caught my eye:

    • Arrows: most look nice, a few have parts of shading on wrong sides, and some of them get smaller as they get closer to viewer (should get larger)

    • Contours: ellipses degrees do not shift/barely shift for contour curves ones

    • Dissections: some textures have some mistake (i.e. bricks do not wrap around the form), overall ok

    • organic intersections: not sure why both pages look nearly the same - were you using some sort of refence not trying to wrap forms from imagination?, other than that looks ok, though shadows could be larger and wrap around forms they fall on more

Overall I think you're ready to move on to the next lesson, be sure to include the points I mentioned in your warmups.

Good luck in your art journey!

    Hello,

Nice improvement over the year, your textures look awesome! Actually all exercises are done well not much to nitpick.

Thanks for taking the time to review, I appreciate it.

My sketchbook is A4 sized so it's fine I guess. As for line weight I kinda forgot about it, I will try to practice that on warmups.

    Hello,

I think you did great, I don't see any major mistakes, though in arrows you somehow lost line confidence for a lot of them.

Good luck in your art journey!

    Hello,

good job completing lesson 1, here's some mistakes I have noticed:

    • On boxes exercies your lines got wobbly (prioritize straight lines over hitting dots)

    • there's some retries on some lines - try to work with what you got first time

    • funnels - some ellipses are not correctly aligned + center line is not really in center

    • plotted perspective - not sure why but you shaded wrong faces - you need to shade one of the faces facing the viewer (closer) not the back faces

    • rotated boxes - second "ring" of boxes is not rotated much - most boxes follow same vanishing points as first "ring" remember that foreshortening is not the same as rotation

Next steps: 250 boxes challenge (also don't forget warmups with small pieces of all encountered exercises so far)

Good luck in your art journey!

    Hello,

most exercises are done well, organic intersection has a lot of mistakes though - the forms do not feel like they're wrapping around each other - center line of each form should follow cross countor of form below it, shadows do not wrap on forms they fall on - this flattens the forms even further.

I suggest redoing organic intersection exercise (rewatching/rereading exercise too) before moving on.

Good luck in your art journey!

    Hello,

    Good job finishing lesson 2!

Not much I can say, a solid submission, though some things did catch my eye:

    • you're having trouble with getting thight ellipses, make sure to focus more on them in your warmups

    • in contours exercise most of ellpises have same degree per sausage - it could vary a bit

    • on arrows some shading is on wrong side (or even both sides)

Good luck in DrawaBox and your art journey!

Staedtler Pigment Liners

Staedtler Pigment Liners

These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.

Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
