    hello!

I will be reviewing your homework. please note I am also a student and still on lesson 2 I may not be the best at giving advices but I will try my best!!

    A. Counter Lines

    Organic Arrows

--> you nailed the perspective but i see many wobbly lines your arrows. its okay if your lines are not in the intended direction.

    Organic Forms with Contour Lines

-->the shapes are uneven by that i mean the ends of the sausage are very different also the orientation of your ellipses is same. there is no change in the angle.

    B. Texture

    Texture Analysis

    --> not done

    Dissection

-->Detailing is great! your silhouettes look good as well as the textures. Textures hug the curve but keep in mind the detail density changes. you dont have to detail the whole form.

    C. Construction

    Form Intersection

-->Intersections regarding spheres are good but others are a hit and a miss. (I know it is difficult to visualize the intersections if you can use 3d models and place and observe the intersections) lines are wobbly.

    Organic Intersection

--> sausages look like they have weight, overlapping good, line weight not used, shadows look incorrect

    Overall feedback

-->more focused on smoothness which makes your line look wobbly and less confident

-->Also next time arrange your homework

    Next Steps:

You have not done or submitted Texture Analysis so do that also Red:-

    1. Organic Forms with contour lines- Ellipses

    2. Form Intersection 2 Pages

    3. I would suggest you to practice Lines Homework :- Superimposed Lines, Ghosted Lines

You are doing great you just need a little more practice!!

    hello Aanchal!

I will be reviewing your homework. please note I am also a student and still on lesson 2 I may not be the best at giving advices but I will try my best!!

    A. Counter Lines

    1. Organic Arrows

-->I think you did a great job in this exercise. I see perspective in your arrows. i likw the fact that your lines are confident even with the overlappings.

    1. Organic Forms with Contour Lines

-->Your sausages look good except for few. I also see that some spine is not in the center for few. Another major issue in your attempt is that of ellipses. The twist is not clear in some of the shapes. (i might be overthinking please check it with others as well). 2nd page looks great!

    Texture

    1. Texture Analysis

-->textures look beautiful. I see what you did in the transition - you increased the space (just like what we do in stippling). overall they do the job of conveying texture but I think you didn't use cast shadows.

    1. Dissection

-->I loved your Dissections the textures go along with the curve surface. You break the silhouettes which is needed. Good exploration!

    Construction

    1. Form Intersection

-->Although, it was hard to watch and figure out whats happening in this exercise, i feel that you understood intersections. I did find a mistake (which is hard to pinpoint here) but by the end of it you are definately in the better position.

    1. Organic Intersection

--> your shapes look simple and have sense of volume. They also look like they are overlapping and understand how the forms are wrapping. These 2 were main areas of focus for this exercise. I have only one feedback- your shadows are sticking to the form. Apart from that you did a great job!

    Next Steps:

overall your homework is great but i would highly suggest you to keep practicing the construction exercise. They are basically the core of further lessons. All the best!!

    hello!

I think you can move forward with the next exercise. I forgot to mark lessson as complete. Sorry about that!

    hello fellow learner,

congratulation on completing the first lesson! i will divide my feedback according to the lesson:-

    1. Lines

Your lines are a little wobbly, try to focus on ghosting out your lines as many times as it takes for you to comfortably make a quick, smooth motion along the right trajectory.

The ending points of your Superimposed Lines are also a little frayed, which is fine but you can fixing them by taking more time at ghosting out your lines.

you did a good job at the ghosted lines exercise- your lines are confident and smooth

I noticed arching only on the longer lines.

    1. Ellipses

You are drawing through your ellipses twice, which is great of the ellipses in your Ellipses in Boxes overlap one another, or the boundaries of the frame. This latter problem due to a lack of time spent before putting pen to paper.

Your Funnels look quite good too.

    1. Boxes

First of all, I can see that you are properly drawing through your boxes everywhere you were instructed to do so. Good work. You also applied the line correction method properly in your Rough Perspective exercise

few of the boxes in the the rotated box exercise are slightly off.

I liked your organic perspective exercise. The only issues in this exercise in the line weight. the boxes closer to us should be have darker lines.

Overall I definitely see progress in your work.

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
