Hi! Good job on completing Lesson 1. Here are a few notes that hopefully you find helpful:

    Lines

In the superimposed lines there’s fraying on both ends in some of your lines. It’s okay if it frays at the end but your starting point should be as close to a dot (just make sure to place the pen carefully at the starting position and don’t rush).

Your lines are generally okay but they do tend to wobble - always ghost for as many times as you need and commit when executing the line.

Also your lines end with a dot - I assume that you slow down as your line comes close to the ending point. It’s okay if you under/overshoot. Try and lifting the pen of the page as you are close to the endpoint.

    Ellipses

Don’t draw through your ellipses more that 3 times (2 is preferable). And, similar to your lines, make sure to ghost and than commit to the ellipse which will help you reduce the wobble.

    Boxes

Generally good. Your box perspectives in the “organic perspective” part is a bit off, but don’t worry you;'ll have plenty of time to work on it on the 250 box challenge. Just make sure to not rush and think about how the box looks in 3D space.

I feel that your rotated boxes need a bit more work. You didn’t keep the endges close, a lot of the lines seem rushed and hence a lot of the boxes are not rotating properly. I suggest you repeat this part at least for half it.

    Hope this helps.

    Next Steps:

Please repeat the rotated boxes part at least for half of the "sphere". You can also start, if haven't already, on the 250 box challenge - it should really help you improve your feel for perspective. Good luck!

Well done for completing Lesson 1! Very nicely done, so just a few quick notes from me:

    Lines

Your linework is veery confident which is good. It’s nice to see that in the ghosted lines section you attempted some whole page width lines. Be careful that you don’t repeat lines (as in ghosted planes section) and be careful not to overshoot on both ends when drawing a ghosted line - place the pen down as close to the starting point as possible.

    Ellipses

In general your ellipses are quite confident (especially in the ellipses in planes section), although some have a bit of wobble (most obvious in the tables of ellipses and funnels sections). Make sure to draw confidently, using your shoulder and don’t rush.

    Boxes

Plotted perspective is nice and clean. On the rough perspective try to draw the horizontal lines parallel to the horizon line - some do tend to skew. Rotated boxes is good but you’re missing the outermost corner boxes.

    Well done!

    Next Steps:

Good job! You can move onto the 250 box challenge.

    Congratulations on completing Lesson 1!

    Lines

    Your lines are very confident.

    Ellipses

Nicely done as well. Would like to point out that in the funnels section, some of the ellipses are skewed (the minor axis should split and ellipse in half), and some of them are too far away from eachother. Make sure not to rush and take your time.

    Boxes

In rotated boxes section the top and bottom corner boxes don’t really rotate. Make sure you keep the edges of neighburing boxes close and almost parallel, which should help you position the new box. Also some of the boxes are missing one or more faces, and some of the lines have been drawn over more than once (also happens in rough perspective part).

Your rough perspective is, in my opinion, your poorest effort. You should try and keep the side of the box facing the viewer parallel to the horizon. You also missed a crucial part of the exercise which is extending the lines (with a different colour pen) to the horizon line to assess how far off you were in your estimations.

Good job overall, but needs some more work.

    Next Steps:

In the rough perspective section you need to extend the lines back to the horizon with a different colour pen. See rough perspective exercise for more directions.

I agree on most points that were brought up. It's a very good submission - good job!

I would add that with your ellipses (even though I can see you took your time and made sure they touch etc.) there seems to be quite a bit of wobble. Make sure to ghost as many times as you need and then commit to drawing it using your shoulder pivot. The accuracy will come later.

Nice job on completing Lesson 1!

    Lines

Your lines tend to wobble and arch. Make sure to really commit to the line and don’t worry about accuracy (it will come with more experience). Also remember to draw using your shoulder and don’t draw from the wrist or elbow.

    Ellipses

Ellipses are generally good. Make sure you don’t rush it and take your time ghosting for as long as you need.

    Boxes

Rotated boxes are a bit to messy to distinguish the detail. You should really make sure not to “chicken-scratch” - most of your lines in rotated boxes, and to some degree in organic perspective, have a “scratchy look”. Even if you are drawing at a smaller scale, make sure to use the ghosted line method.

    Next Steps:

Well done! You can try out the 250 box challenge. Good luck!

    Hi,

well done on your first lesson. Just a couple of notes that you might find useful.

    Lines

Your lines are generally drawn with confidence. However they do tend to wobble which is most obvious in the ghosted planes section and your boxes. Also don't reapeat lines, no mater if it's correct (happens a couple times in your ghosted planes).

Your superimposed lines are good, but be mindful of fraying on the starting point - take your time when placing the pen. Also some of the lines have a slight arc - make sure you draw using your shoulder as a pivot.

    Ellipses

It seems like your ellipses have been drawn through more that 2 or 3 times. Make sure that you stick to 3 or less (preferably 2). Tables of ellipses seem a bit messy and rushed. As mentioned you draw through them more thatn 3 times and there is quite considerable overlap between neighbouring ellipses (you should aim for just touching). Also some of your planes seem to be missing an ellipse.

In the funnels section you don't have to draw an ellipse if you run out of space on the minor axis. Otherwise it's good.

    Boxes

In the rotated boxes section your boxes, as you move away from the center lines, don't rotate anymore and are not in the right proportion. Make sure to keep the gap between neighbouring boxes small - use the already drawn box as a guide for the box you want to draw.

    Next Steps:

Good job! Just make sure that you don't rush and draw confidently - accuracy will come later. You can start on the 250 box challenge. Good luck!

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
