Hello, I see your work and I see the effort you put.

The confidence is there so that's a good point.

The accuracy on the other hand is missing in some points in particular in the ellipses, especially in the table of ellipses.

I'm sorry to say but I think you don't understood the task there (table of ellipses)... In little sections there're too much variances of ellipses and in the sections where's the curved line you use ellipses as borders not only on the sides... You need to have at least two sides of the ellipses that touches a solid line (in this case the sides of the section/rectangle)...

So that exercise has to be redone after rewatching and rereading the instructions.

The only one more thing I have to say is more a suggestion than a critic, 'cause it's well done, on the organic perspective: try not to correct the lines with further lines. The felt-tip pen is there to make you see the mistakes and so to know where to do better.

In conclusion overall it's a great job. Follow the step I write and after that you can move on onto the next lesson.

Keep the good work and have fun. :)

    Next Steps:

1 page of table of ellipses

    Hello,

I see your work and a good thing that I can say is that it's a progressive in positive work.

Lines : You start infact pretty rough on super imposed lines especially in longer lines but then take some patience and do better on ghosted lines and ghosted planes.

I appreciate that you add some curves.

    Ellipses :Same for the ellipses.

Rough on table of ellipses but then better in ellipses in planes and much more in funnels.

So for those two (super imposed line and table of ellipses) I suggest you, through next lesson, to stop on them as a warm-up a little bit more.

Rough perspective :Only 'cause I know that you have now to deal with the 250 box challenge, the one advice I can give you is to do 1 page more of rough perspective before tackle that next lesson.

Rotated boxes and organic perspective :

You're done a good job on this.

The only thing I may suggest you, referring only on the organic perspective, is to try not to correct the lines you've done with another line.

The purpose of using the felt-tip pen is precisely to see the mistakes so to know where we have to improve.

That's it, I hope my review will be clear enough and useful.

Have a great continuation of exercising and having fun. :)

    Next Steps:

A part from doing super imposed line and table of ellipses as warm-ups + 1 page of rough perspective(before the next lesson), breathing and ghosting more through, I think if you continue as you do, I can compliment you on the work and say that for me the lesson is completed and you can move on.

    Hello,

Thanks for the suggestions, as I said to Doctormein I completely forgot about Discord.

Someday, somehow the improvements will certainly be seen so the comparing thing is also a good suggestion.

Thanks again, have fun you too :)

    Hello,

Coming back from the ongoing waiting...

    Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah, you're right, then I think I will try to critic until sunday as much lessons 1 as I can to see if my post would show up for a critic and then, if nothing happens, try with Discord.

I will definitely bring back the warm-ups.

I completely forgot about Discord so thanks again for the suggestions :)

    Hello Mondaymug,

First: Congratulations on finishing the lesson one! ????

I've seen all of the pages.

I review as the exercises go:

    • Superimposed and ghosted lines : just a little bit fractioned in superimposed on longer ones but rather than that great job

    • Ghosted planes ?

    • Ellipses in planes and funnels : Well done, most of them fit well

    • Rough perspective : As you say you can see that you're a little bit stressed out about that one exercise. You can certainly improve but is not that bad especially on the first and the third row on the second page so use it as a warm up.

    • Rotated box I will not comment much on that one 'cause is though itself.

The only thing I will say is that the right one seems better.

    • *Organic perspective: In my opinion from the second row of the first page and, as you said in particular, the second page, you are doing a great job. The boxes don't have to be the same size

I review just for maybe some suggestions

    Next Steps:

ATTENTION: I see the year so please do not think to just move on but consider this review as just suggestions for your new start from lesson 0 again.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Hello Rrose,

    First:

Congratulations on finishing the lesson one! ????

I've seen all of the pages.

For reviewing I will go through, step by step, almost every exercise.

    • Superimposed lines : the shorter ones and the curved are better.

I suggest you to breath through, relax the shoulder a little bit and, that helped me, count the lines so the mind will be concentrated on the exercise but it will distract it for aiming perfection: a concentrated but relaxed mind will do better.

If you are struggling with the fluidity of the surface, put another paper on your working desk to allow the confidence of your arm to go smooth.

    • Ghosted lines : A little bit of tendency to curve lines but rather than that it's well done.

    • Ghosted planes :The lines are more confident so is a well done job

    • Ellipses : I group them together 'cause I see a little bit of trouble here: In terms of fitting them it's ok but or your not rotating the page enough to be comfortable or your not ghosting enough...

I will say the funnels are better.

    • Rough perspective : A bit of flop. I think that here your arm is tense and/or your aming too much to reach the right point so the lines suffer of wabbling and the perspective lines take their own way.

    • Rotated boxes : I will not comment much on that, it's a tough exercise itself and I think that the suggested exercise at the end will improve the perspective of the boxes.

    • Organic perspective : Last but not least, here the best one is the first row of the second page. You are rotating the boxes so that's good.

    Overall good job.

    Summary/Suggestions

    • Do the super imposed lines and the ellipses in planes for the warm-ups

    • Do just one more page of rough perspective to reinforce in particular the perspective view.

When you follow that, I think you can move on onto the next lesson.

    I hope I helped you.

Good luck on the ongoing of the journey ????

    Next Steps:

    1 page of rough perspective

PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
