    Lines:

Your lines are generally smooth and straight, make sure you watch out for the fraying with the super-imposed lines as it should not fray at the beginning point. Make sure to also watch for arcing as I've noticed a few lines with a slight arc. The planes exercise was handled well. There is overshooting and undershooting as well as missed trajectory between points but this will get better with practice. Be sure not to try and repeat lines however as this could make the drawing look messy.

    Ellipses:

Generally the ellipse tables are done quite well, there is little overlap between each ellipse and they touch the boundaries mostly. Same with the ellipses on planes exercise. Make sure that you are only going through each ellipse 2-3 times and not more.

    Boxes:

The boxes are generally well done perspective wise. Make sure that you are making each line individually and rotating the page as there is some arcing on a lot of them. With the line correction, I can see that most of the lines generally point towards the vanishing point, well done! On the rotating boxes exercise, make sure to cross-hatch all of the boxes if you are including it. The organic perspective exercise was done well perspective wise with each box getting bigger the closer it gets. Same with the lines exercise however, it's important not to double over the lines and to just move onto the next line. If this was done for adding weight to the lines, make sure that the weight is added to boxes that are closer and not the ones further away, especially if there is overlap.

    Next Steps:

To follow up, it would help doing another section of the organic perspective exercise, submit here when you're done.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
