Thanks! I'll have to take a look at the video, because the inner corner I struggled with a Lot. And same with the line-weight, I didn't start until a good chunk into the boxes, so I'll definitely need to get some more mileage with it!

Hey there! I had a look through and noted some things that I noticed, so hopefully this helps you out!

Superimposed Lines: you had a bit of fraying on both ends, so slow down before making your mark to make sure your pen is at the proper starting point, but otherwise looks good!

Ghosted Lines and Ghosted Planes/Ellipses: all look good!

Tables of Ellipses: generally look good, but try and spend more time ghosting before making mark your mark, because there seems to be spots where you aren't really confident in where you're placing the ellipse.

Funnels: look good, and can use circular object to make funnels when you do them again, to make it easier on yourself.

Plotted perspective, rough perspective and rotated boxes: all well done!

Organic Perspective: looks good, but your lines have a bit of a wobble, so don't forgot to ghost confidently!

    Overall, very well done!

    Next Steps:

    • Use these exercises as 10-15 minute warmups when you start a new drawing session

    • Move on to the 250 box challenge!

Hi there! I had a look through your work and put together some thoughts, so hopefully this helps!

Superimposed lines: You started off with a bit of fraying on both ends, but got better as you went along!

Ghosted lines: There were some lines that wobbled a bit, so try to keep in mind that confidence comes before accuracy, but otherwise, they look good.

Ghosted planes/ellipses: I can't really tell if you're adding points to ghost between for every line, if you aren't, you should be, it will help your accuracy! Other than that, keep trying to get the ellipses to touch every edge of the plane and you'll be acing it in no time!

    Tables of ellipses: look good!

Funnels: Overall look good! When using these for warmups later, you should try them with increasing degrees of the ellipses, but for now this is fine.

    Plotted perspective: done well!

Rough perspective: I'm not too sure if your lines are scratchy or if it's just a scanning issue. If they are, then definitely focus more on getting a smooth line, over an accurate one! Otherwise, they look good!

Rotated boxes and organic perspective: Both look good, congrats!

    Next Steps:

    • Use these homework exercises as a 10-15 minute warmup when you start a new drawing session

    • Move on to the 250 box challenge!

Okay! I had a look through and wrote down some things I noticed, hopefully this doesn't come off too blunt, and can be helpful for you!

    Superimposed lines: good!

Ghosted lines: the majority of them are good, a couple of them are wobbly, but that's alright.

Ghosted planes/ellipses: look good, don't forget that you can (and should) make points to ghost between, even on the "dividing" lines for the planes, and that for the ellipses, you only need to draw through 2-3 times.

Tables of ellipses: nice! you have good variation of sizes and shapes of your ellipses, but same comment as above for drawing through.

Funnels: look good, though you were allowed to use a ruler for the "dividing" lines down the middle of the funnels, you did well with it anyway.

Plotted perspective: it would have been good to draw multiple frames on the page and do multiple attempts at this, but the one you did make looks good!

Rough perspective: Two main problems here: you should have separated the page in 3 and done smaller "frames" on each page, as laid out the lesson guide. And you didn't do the line extensions, which are vital to understanding where each of your boxes is off-course, so to speak.

Rotated boxes: you have't finished this exercise either, you're missing the outermost corners. What you have done however, looks good

Organic perspective: looks good! you'll get far more practice in the 250 box challenge in terms of creating boxes.

Hopefully this helps and doesn't come off as too harsh!

    Next Steps:

Before marking this as complete, I'd like you to finish the Rough Perspective exercise with the line extensions described in the lesson guide, and the Rotated Boxes filling in those outer corners. Best of luck!

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hi! I’m not always great at putting words together, but hopefully this helps out! I’ll just go through each exercise and let you know what I noticed!

Superimposed lines: you started out with a bit fraying on both ends, but definitely got better as you went along

Ghosted lines: there’s quite a bit of arcing, so just make sure that you draw from shoulder OR if you already are, try to consciously arc other way so it cancels out

Ghosted planes: look good! But don’t draw over lines even if they go wrong

Ellipses in planes: your ellipses look good, but you only need draw through 2-3 times, which is another thing that you definitely got better with as you went along

Tables of ellipses: a lot of your ellipses look very similar, so it might help to try out some different sizes (more wide, more tall, etc)

Funnels and Plotted perspective: both look good!

Rough perspective: your boxes themselves look good, but make sure you’re doing your line extensions from the line you drew to the horizon, not from the point to the VP, as it makes it a lot easier to see your mistakes that way.

Your line extensions also only need to go to the horizon line and not past it, I’m going to recommend that you reread the instructions for this exercise.

Rotated boxes: looks good! I can see where you struggled to rotate some of the boxes, but that’s perfectly normal at this stage

Organic perspective: again, this is another exercise where I can see improvements as you go along, especially in how you overlap the boxes, however, I just want to reiterate to not draw over lines when they go wrong.

Hopefully I didn't come off too harsh, and this helped out!

    Next Steps:

I'd like you to redo one page of the rough perspective, with the correct line extensions.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

So, I’m not super great at putting my thoughts together, so I’m sorry if this comes off a bit blunt, but hopefully its helpful!

Superimposed lines: These look good, but don’t be afraid to try out lines that span the whole page

Ghosted lines: overall pretty good, overshooting or undershooting is normal at this point, so don’t worry about that too much. But, do make sure you’re drawing from the shoulder, as a few of your lines have an arc to them

Ghosted planes and ellipses: Look good, I can see you got more confident as you went along with the ellipses! Just same again about drawing from the shoulder

Ellipse tables: Drawing through your ellipses is good, but you only need to draw through 2 or 3 times, otherwise, good job

Funnels, plotted perspective: Both look good!

Rough perspective: Looks good, but be more confident with your lines, confidence over accuracy

Rotated boxes and organic perspective: looks good, you’ll get a lot more practice with drawing boxes in the 250 box challenge

    Next Steps:

    • Use these exercises as 10-15 minute warmups when you start a drawing session

    • Move on to the 250 box challenge if you haven't already!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this! Some of this I already had figured out, but some of it I definitely hadn't realised (especially what you said about my circles/ellipses, that will definitely be one to work on!).

PureRef

PureRef

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
