Some of your free hand lines for the boxes looks kind of wobbley but other than that it looks great. I think that maybe you just need to be ghosting your lines a little bit more.

    Next Steps:

I think that your ready for the 250 box challenge!

Hello! I hope to properly provide even a little bit of what I've learned thus far on the course to help you through your next step

Your superimposed lines seem to wobble slightly but that's expected in the beginning when your first starting out by using your shoulder muscles, but already I can tell you're heading in the right direction

The same can be said about your ghosted lines , I can see some hesitant marks that are there as you are trying to be accurate. Take your time as you situate yourself when you're using the ghosted method when you do your warm ups (I'll talk more about warm ups later on)

I suggest using your pinkie finger to slightly hover over the page to help keep your hand balanced on the paper without laying down your wrist on the page

Ghosted planes look good! Confident strokes with some good degree of accuracy, you seem to show improvement forward as you do the exercises which is very great! Some wobble on your lines but again thats alright, accuracy will come naturally so focus on your confident mark making first and foremost.

    Table of Ellipses

The ellipses have been drawn through at least 2 times and are snuggly placed against each other , again some wobbling but you will get better with that later on

Don't rush through the ellipses as you draw them, take as much time as you need to properly execute all points

Using the shoulder, wrist and elbow not resting on the table, slowly using the motion of the ghosting method as you slowly make your mark carefully but confidently

    Ellipses in planes, do

take care to focus on the motion of the ellipse as you ghost it and then draw it. Don't worry about the outcome or how well it fits into the box, but do try to follow the rest of the rules of the exercise. It may be difficult but that's why you should take your time since accuracy will come with practice

    Funnels

I can see some discrepancies in some of the funnels but there are some that are quite well, I worry if you've understood the point of the exercise

Aligning the ellipses to the central minor axis line as well as a confident ellipse are important points in this exercise, there is a randomness in the pattern of the ellipses as it's moving farther away from the middle line as I do not see a variation in shape is the ellipses move away from the middle

    (Important link example

    Blotted perspective

Using a ruler for your linework, kept the verticals perpendicular to the horizon, and correctly plotting their horizontal edges back to the vanishing points

    Great job

    Rough perspective

worked with 1 vanishing point around the center of the frame, with the front and back faces of the boxes rectangular

Applyed the line extensions correctly and demonstrated the use of the ghosting method for their freehanded lines

    Good job!

    Rotated Boxes

keeping the gaps between their boxes tight and consistent, as well as

    the boxes rotating,

drawing through their boxes , and drawn all the boxes for the set

I can also notice how your lines seem more confident as we go through the exercises

    Keep it up!

    Organic perspective

Again your line quality has greatly improved, I can see some slight dramatic foreshortening in some of the boxes but only slightly

keep the foreshortening more shallow - meaning, more gradual convergences.

Congrats on making it this far :)

In General please make sure to thoroughly read all of the material provided by drawabox. It seems like several times you misunderstood or did not completely read the instructions. Do not draw over your mistakes, that makes them only more obvious to the viewer. Please for future exercises use plain printer paper instead of the ruled one you have used in your submission.

in the superimposed lines exercise to me it is unclear whether you actually went over every line 8 times. This is also due to you using a at times unsharpened pencil. Your lines show fraying on both sides which indicates that you did not take enough time to precisely choose your starting point. I would suggest you redo one page of superimposed lines with fine liner such as you used in the later exercises. Focus on superimposing each line 8 times. Also focus on lines rather than curves or circles. Furthermore pay attention to your starting point.

Your ghosted lines look good. You seem to execute them confidently without over or undershooting. No wobbeling either. Good job.

Your ghosted planes look very good as well. Expecially no overshooting or undershooting. Lines are straight without wobble. With the lines crossing each plane i take issue insofar as they are nearly perfect. If you did those with a ruler please, again thoroghly read the instructions. If you have done those freehand. Good for you nice work!

Your ellipses in planes exercise look ok. Your ellipses sometimes wobble a bit so keep in mind to execute them confidently and quickly, furthermore sometimes it seems like you have not drawn trough them exactly twice. The spacing within the planes sometimes leads to distorted ellipses instead of an adjustment of the axis of the ellipse. However these are things you can adress as you perform this exercise as warmup.

Your tables of ellipses look ok. Again sometimes your ellipses lack roundness and warp such as on page 2 of this exercise in the upper left corner. Again make sure to draw through your ellipses exactly two times. You will perform this exercise in the future with your warmups, but please again fill out one page of the tables of ellipses exercise. Take care to draw through your ellipses and keep them round. Do not worry if your lines do not 100% overlap they will get tighter with time and practise.

Your funnels exercise looks good. Whenever you perform this exercise as your warmup please make sure to draw through your ellipses twice. Also you could make your funnels a bit bigger in order to make sure you can engage your whole arm including your shoulder.

Your Two point perspective exervise could have taken some more toroughness. You should perform this exervise with a ruler or a straightedge. And trace all edges of the box to the vanishing points without changing the color. Also when doing this exercise take your time to visualize prepare and ececute each line toroughly. Despite being allowed a ruler your lines are sometimes wobbly. Furthermore if you use hatching do so with care and keep in mind which side of which box is actually facing the viewer. Execute your hatching accordingly and with intent. Here sometimes you hateched multiple sides of some boxes. and also sides of boxes that would be covered by other boxes. Keep this in mind. You will be able to adress this when performing this exervise as your warmups.

Your rough perspective exervise seems to have been performed with a ruler. This should have been done free hand. The lines tracing towards the vanishing points shoudl have been performed after the fact in another color to evaluate your ability to estimate whether a line points to a vanishing point. You traced all your lines with a ruler directly at the vanishing point on both pages of this exercise. Please do the whole exercise again and make sure to read the instructions and watch the videos in full.

In the following you submitted pages with exervises that you have not been instructed to do. I will disregard them and again urge you to keep in mind to fully take in all of the instructions.

Your Rotated boxes exerise looks good. However you again did not perform the exercise as intended. Also your outer ring of boxes seems to be off in rotation (while also not being part of the instructions). Make sure that the convergences of the lines change coherently as compared to the previous row of boxes. You will be able to adress this as part of your warmups.

Your organic perspective exervise looks good. While your convergencies are sometimes of you will have plenty of time to practice this during the 250 box challange.

So please perform the assigned revisions and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS thoroughly for each exercise.

    Next Steps:

    One Page of superimposed lines

One Page of superimposed planes if done with ruler

One Page of Tables of ellipses

    Two pages of Rough perspective.

These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
