Hello :), I think whatever you do for "fun" is entirely fine. I personally do enjoy figure drawing and I can totally relate to you on this. The thing is, It's your decision on what's fun or not. So I suggest if you find figure drawing fun or whatever you want to draw/paint and want to do it, go for it! Only you can decide what you enjoy and what you don't. Because even if we're not doing the Dab lessons, we will still be learning new things in art, even if we don't realize at the time.

As humans we constantly learn new things, so in your "playtime" do what you want to do at the moment.

I really hope this helped. :D

Thank you so much for the critique! I'll definitely be keeping these pointers and reminders in mind.

I'll be sure to add boxes to my warm up sessions, and I'll try to be more consistent with the amount of time i'll be doing DAB exercises.

    Thank you again! :D

Thank you so much! I thought it was me who was using the microns wrong, as the nib keeps getting damaged WAY too easily. I think one pen lasted me only a week or two at best. Even if I held it lightly. I am switching from Microns to unipin, as last time i used unipin i had a great experience. So thank you so much for the reply!

    Thanks again!

I'd say it's fine to move on! And once you do get critique during or after the 250 boxes challenge, you probably gained experience from doing the challenge anyways. And if you were asked to do some revisions for lesson 1, it's going to be much easier as you would have already gained experience from the challenge.

I'd suggest if you really want to get critique, you could go check out the drawabox discord, although it's best to have someone else critique your work, you could go back and read the lesson again to check where you could have done better.

    hope this helps! :D

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
