Alright, I'll keep that stuff in mind and I move forward and focus on the issues.
Alright, I'll keep that stuff in mind and I move forward and focus on the issues.
I see that some of your superimposed lines are fraying at both ends and ot one. You must put the pen exactly on the start point, otherwise this lesson will be far less effective. Other than that the lines are typically frayed for a beginner. Move confidantly and with speed, you'll get better.
Your ghosted lines are wobbly and inaccurate. Again, move quickly and confidantly. Ghost your lines more to increase your confidence and speed. If you feel like you're going to overshoot lift the pen off the page.
Again with the planes, your main problem is the inaccuracy of your lines. Keep drawing and performing the proper techniques and you'll get better.
The ellipses in planes look better than the planes themselves. You seem to grasp the idea well. Keep in mind how the angle of the plane will affect the ellipse and you'll do well.
I think your tables of ellipses look good. Try not to make them asymetrical and wobbly like some of them are.
Your funnels are rough and lack in variation. Remember to keep making different designs to better learn.
Plotted perspective looks fine.
For rough perspective, ghost your lines more and don't draw directly above the VP. If you do that, your boxes will end up super distorted.
Your rotated boxes need to be rotated more, at least the ones on the far edges. Pay attention to how the perspctive should shift and adjust the boxes accordingly.
Your first organic perspective is far too small but you learned the proper size by the second. Imagine the sides of the boxes and planes. That should help your draw them. The 250 box challenge will give you more instruction on that part and better techniques.
Your main issues is the straightness of your lines. Keep working on that and you'll improve greatly.
Next Steps:
Redo funnels, 1 pg of organic perspective, and 2 pg of ghosted planes. Afterwards, move onto 250 box challenge.
The main problem you seem to have is having lines from different sides go to the same place (Top lines and bottom lines converge slightly differently). I suggest you try visualizing the convergence point further away from the box. Pay more attention to how the other lines are drawn and what direction they point in. Don't make lines converge sooner than they should. I'm sorry I can't give more advice but I only recently did the 250 myself.
Next Steps:
Move on to lesson 2.
Your superimposed lines seem to be fraying a fair amount. They'll get better with time as you continue to draw, but keep them in mind. Your ghosted lines are better I'd say. If you feel like you're going to overshoot, start lifting the pencil/pen off the paper. Your ghosted planes are similar, but they seem to deviate more often. Focus on the end goal, ghost more, and move your hand swiftly. I can't see any issues with your table of ellipses, but I didn't do that well on that one. Your ellipses in planes look good, you seem to grasp the concept. Your funnels need more variation, most of the ellipses are very thin. Plotted perspective looks fine. For rough perspective, work on your ghosting and visualization. Your exterior rotated boxes do not rotate enough. Pay attention to how the perspecive should shift. As it moves, it should face less and less away from the veiwer. Your organic perspective looks good but try and draw more boxes next time. Put more on the page.
Overall I'd say you did well. Keep practicing for your warmup and you'll keep improving.
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 box challenge, and if you want redo the funnels.
Sorry about the wait. Your planes are better but you still don't have enough per page, they should all be touching each other like a jigsaw puzzle. Those ellipse tables look greatly improved, good job. Your ellipses on planes fit much better but could still use some work. I like what you did with your funnels, well done. Your rough perspective is now correct, same as your organic perspective. If you need help with those, remember to visualize the VP and make all lines converge.
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 box challenge while still practicing lesson 1 exercises for your warm up.
Your superimposed lines are good for a beginner, well done there. Your ghosted lines seem to wobble and miss only slightly. To help with that, ghost your lines more until you feel fully confidant. You don't have enough ghosted planes, they're too far spaced out. The page should be completly filled. Some of the lines are kinda wobbly too, or have inaccuracies. I think your tables of ellipses are good, but they do lack variation. If you revist that exercise please try to vary up your ellipses a little more. Your ellipses in planes also need to be redo, not just for the above reasoning but because they do not follow the plane well. Your ellipses on the elongated planes do not match them. Your funnels are good but lack variation. Your plotted perspective has no where near enough boxes, there should be 4-6 per page third. In addition your repeadtadly crosshatched the wrong side of the cubes. You must crosshatch a single side facing the viewer. Your rough perspective improved quickly, but your lines wobble severely and sometimes miss. Be more confident with your lines and ghost more. Your roated boxes aren't really rotated. If you revist this later such as afte rthe 250 box challenge, I'm sure you'll do much better. You only have one page of organic perspective. You shaded 2 sides instead of one and all your lines seem parallel. Makes the lines converge with each of the Y lines.
Next Steps:
Redo Ghosted Planes, Ellipses in Planes, Plotted Perspective, and Organic Perspective.
I'm gonna start off by saying all your stuff is very well done, but the lighting sucks. Your superimposed lines are your second weakest link right, but they'll improve as you spend more time drawing. Your ghosted lines are good with only a few wobbles and misses here and there. Ghost more if you lack confidence and and remove your pen early if you feel like you'll overshoot. Your ghosted planes are very good, though i do seem some wobble and inaccuracy in a few lines. The tables of ellipses are done extremely well, I can't say anything other than to tighten up your lines. Your ellipses in planes are your weakest work, but still well done. You need to curve your ellipses more, they keep having paritally straight sides . If you want to redo them go ahead but they aren't holding back. Your funnels are good, I can't say anything. I can't see anything wrong with your plotted perspectives. Your rough perspective need to be better at reaching the VP. I'm sure that if you redid the exercise they would be. Your rotated boxes are better then mine, can't say anything. Your organic perspective have lines that do not converge with their VP point. Have the lines on the sides converge with the central Y lines.
Next Steps:
Practice more and move on to the 250 box challenge when you get approval.
Your superimposed lines need tightening up, but like most people that'll come as your draw more. Your ghosted lines wobble far more then they overshoot, wobbling is a lot worse than overshooting. Spend more time ghosting and execute your lines more quickly. If you think your gonna overshoot just take your drawing tool off the page early. Your ghosted planes need line accuracy most of all, the construction lines are often inaccruate. Spend more time ghosting your lines until you have confidence. You might want to do one more page of ellipse tables, since you have no small minor axis moving along curved lines. Other than that they seem decent. Ellipses in planes look decent, they mostly need their lines tightened up. You'll need to redo your funnels, there's not enough variation in the minor axis. Once you redo it, draw some wider ellipses or even full circles. I can't see any issues with your plotted perspective, though my eyes are probably just not good enough. You did well on your rough perspective, no issues here. Your rotated boxes are a lot better then mine, i can't say anything. Your organic perspective suffers from poor line quality. As for fixing your perspective, a good trick is to imagine the VP point about 4 inches away.
Next Steps:
Redo the funnels with more variation
Sorry about the wait, those look better.
Most of your pics are taken from a bad perspective, you might want to pick up a paper scanner to help with that. Your superimposed are decent, they'll simply need more practice to tighten them. Your ghosted lines all seem to overshot the mark. Try letting off the pen early, that could end up helping you. The ghosted planes are all very samey, you should be more experimental with the dot placement. You also need to work on your line accuracy. Your ellipse tables have the same problem. Make the line in the middle of the table more freely curving or jagged. You also need to vary up your minor axises. You ellipses on planes need more varied plane shapes. Once again, your funnels lack variation, please try to be more experimental with your minor axises. I can't see anything wrong with your plotted perspective. Your rough perspective is missing an entire step, you need to add the depth lines. These show the accuracy of your lines going to the VP and without them it's very hard to grade your skill. Some of your rotated boxes, like the ones on the edges, are not rotated enough. Your organic perspective is pretty bad. You need more boxes, in more sizes. For actually making the boxes look like boxes, try to spend more time ghosted your lines meeting at the VP.
Next Steps:
You need to redo your ghosted planes, ellipse tables, ellipses on planes, funnels, rough perspective, and organic perspective.
These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
