Excellent! Thanks a lot. I will focuse on shallow foreshortening in warmups. Thanks a lot again!

    2:49 AM, Friday February 13th 2026

I also do apllogise for the delay on the responce. Hope this responces find you well

    2:48 AM, Friday February 13th 2026

Happy to be helpful. Again Hope you the best on the rest of the course and remember to give yourself time to have fun too!

    2:39 AM, Friday February 13th 2026

Hello again! Yeah this one is on the dificult side, more so the border ones.

I'm unshure of being able to tell you more than the guide but 1. I'll try, and 2. Remember that you still have the reddir and Discord server if you need a faster set of responces.

    But for now.

First corrections because I'll use them later in the explanation.

    1. The final boxes ( the ones that are in the four extremes and are meant to be just simple scuares ) Are not aligned with the axis. That wuld a problem since you are meant to use them as a reference for rotating the boxes ( think of them as the last box you place )

    2. You are either not drawing through or they are too overlaped. (I'm going for the latter but some of the boxes get too shalow and it's kinda dificult to know) This is an important thing because you are not drawing thorugh just to practice more, you are also doing it because you are meant to copy the neighbouring edge for your new box, otherwise it would all be guessing.

    3. (this one is not a thing of this excercise but I will call it out weneber I see it )I do see the wobling remember do take your time, breath and take as much as you need, remember this corrections are more than anithing for showing that you understand the excercise, so it doesn't have to be perfect.

    4. (same as 3.) do not draw over your old lines, I do it too some times, it's not a good habit. It makes dificult to correct your lines and even more in excecises like this one that have quite a lot of them.

Seein your correction I'll try to explain.

So the idea here is that you get used to working with things that you already planted in your enviroment.

You will draw the four scuares (boxes) that represent the middle box fully rotated, (whe ignore the depht on those ones) Then you draw the first one. Draw it as you prefer, but I recomend kinda big so you can go using your whole arm confortably.

Now lets assume you start with the neighbour box of the right. Here you know the boxes ought to be really close togheter so their respective neighbour face, will be close togheter, in this excercise in fact whe assume them to be so close that they basically a copy of each other. So you start your right box by copying the edges of the original box a tiny bit to the right ( Enough so I can see a clear gap please ).

Now that you have copied those edges whe can continue to the next part. Here the rest is perspective ( I cannot stress the importance of using the ghosting method to draw the lines enough so I'll just remind you that all of this is using the ghosting method ). You will consider the fact that this box is rotated, in such a way so that the other side of the box ( the one that hasn't been copied ) is the fartest away from the viewer, so that means that the edges on the other side must appear a little bit smaller, this is an important concept for the future so keep it in mind.

So since the box is alligned with the horizon ( horizontal axis ) whe can tell that the VP must be somewhere allong it. you choose where, but since I saw some problems with the boxes I'll tell you, before drawing the line check if the edge you drew is working as intended, AKA it's smaller than the paralel edge that it's closer to you, for this you can just use your fingers, put the closer edge in between them and now following the imaginary edge that will in theory will yoin your lines (the one that is joining the ertices) check if the two points you drew are smaller ( if they are they should either not touch your fingers at all, or in the case of small foreshortening should barely touch them ) if so, that means that you are probably good. Now you repeat the proces for the box next to that one.

For the diagonal ones ( The ones that you draw afther the ones alligned with the axis ) you have to just remember

    1. Practically nobody here have ever drew the very extreme ones ( the ones that are at the very corner ) perfect in theyr first try so do not get too worked up on those.

    2. You first do the boxes that are alligned to the axis because those are the easy ones, then you do the rest based on witch one has the most neighbours because that is the one that gives you the most information of how it shoul look like so that reduce the amount of guessing you should do.

    3. Same logic applyes for the boxes not alligned to the axis but before drawing the edges, remember to test the two edges, AKA remember that you have one edge whose VP is on the horizon and another one whose VP is on the vertical line. You have to also check that the " line far away from me gets smaller " rule applyes to it too.

    4. Remember to take your time with this one, honestly it does get messy a the borders.

After that there is no much more secret . Also lefth the hatching lines for when you finish it, because it will make it more dificult for you.

I hope you the best of lucks and I'm here if you have further questions.

    Next Steps:

So again the excercise of the rotated boxes, Remember to check the discord if you need more real time help or the reddit (they let you use troaway accounts if I recall) if you don't like discord.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hello CHARITY in regards to your question. In regargs to your question, it could be also because sinse this are shorter lines you may be using either your wrist or your elvow more for drawing them without noticing. Try checking that. Maybe concentrate in not moving them and see if the problem persist. If it persist maybe try the option of pourposefully arching them in the oposite direction to compensate. It could also be because at that time you were not giving yourself enough time, since that problem does not seem to be as prevalent in organic perspective. Just in case, remember to give yourself enough time to draw every line.

Also for ease of reading I have cut down this review in chunks.

    Lines and planes

    Super imposed lines:

This one seems fine. There is no fraying nor noticeable woobling.

    Ghosted lines:

This one looks fine too. The lines are confidently drawn and I see no trend towards arching.

    Ghosted planes:

They seem fine. No new mistakes have apeared so I'll say they are okay

    Ellipses

    Tables of ellipses:

This ones are also fine. You fit them snuggly in their boxes. They are evenly shaped and you did draw them twice so this one is okay

    Ellipses in planes:

The general trend is towards them being confidently drawn. You did draw them twice and you seem to have tried to make them touch all the four edges without compromising eveness. So this one is okay

    Ellipses in funnels:

They are alligned and correctly fitted so this one is fine.

    Boxes

    Plotted perspective:

This one looks fine. You did make it so all the edges go back to their respective VP and The edges with VP at infinity are drawn perpendicular to the horizon, so this one is fine.

    Rough perspective:

They do look fine. The lines seem to have been drawn confindentlly and you seem to have used the ghosting method. The faces do converge as they get further away, and you have one VP except for the second group in the first page, I personally can't tell if it was mis touch or that you had two VPs in any case I will remind you that this was an excercise for 1 VP perspective so take that into account for future warm ups with this. After that it does seems fine.

    Rotated boxes:

First of all. You were supposed to do 1 page, not two please refrain from doing extras; In what regards to you, you will have more than enough practice in between your own drawings, war mups, every other course you may or may not be doing, and this course; In regards to the reviewers, you are just giving more work for them and making confusing to critique since I don't know witch one should I check. For this time I will check the two of them but again please refrain from doing that in the future.

    Now regarding the excercise itself:

In the one I'll assume was the first one. You did not drew through all of them an some were not rotated on the lefth side. But on the right side I see you were already starting to make them rotate.

On the second one. You did draw through them and all the boxes are rotating.

In both versions you drew all the boxes and attempted a 180 rotation from side to side. Also you seem to have used the neighbour for the edges that have tose and aproximated for the ones that did not. So the excercise is fine over all.

In both cases you somethimes had some edges that were actually bigger onse they got farther away. Remember that distances get shorter as things get far away so the individual edges should too. I would recomend you to use you fingers to measure the line that is there already and try and move them along the orthogonal line that already exist and shares a vertice with this one. to were you will plot your new paralel line. Remember that if said line exist further away from the expectator, and it's the same size then it must be smaller so your vertices should ve somewere in between distance measured. Afther a time you will be able to eye ball it more ofthen.

    Organic perspective:

The lines are confidently drawn, they seem to converge in general, and their convergeance is slow so this one is fine.

    Next Steps:

This seems completed to me. Remember that you will not get the badge until this review get enough agreements but you can already go and start the 250 boxes challenge if you want.

Welcome to drawabox! I hope you the best of lucks and that you enyoi this course.

Hello RAIMU! Answering your question. First of all remember the 50% rule and second I'll say as much as you fell like it. Remember that since you are starting is really important that you do not burnout yourself with this so just do as much as you feel confortable but try to be consistant in order to develop a habit

Now going back to the critique. I will brak it down in parts as to make it easier to check

    Lines and planes

    Super inposed lines:

They look fine. The fraying is minimal and the lines seem confident.

    Ghosted Lines:

They do look fine but I also notice a curvature that is independant of the length of the line. So I will assume that you are naturaly curving them. I'll give you the recomendation of trying to conciusly curv your lines in the oposite direction. until you stop seeing it.

    Ghosted planes:

They do look good but I'll remind you to avoid doing multiple correction lines. Those make it more difficult to check what was your original intention.

    Ellipses

    Tables of ellipses:

This ones are fine. They are confident, you drew multiple times throug and you did make them touch the borders

    Ellipses inside planes:

This ones looks fine. Some look kinda wobly but most are confident and you seem to havve strive to touch all for edges so I'll say it's okay

    Ellipses inside a funnel:

They are alligned to the minor axis, are smootly shaped and you did draw through them. I'll say its okay

    Boxes

    Plotted perspective:

This one seems fine you seem to have followed the instructions properly. All the edges converge to they banishing point and I don't see the vertical lines tilting. So that's fine

    Rough perspective:

They look fine, the faces keep theyr scuare shape all the way and you only have one banishing point as requested. Thoug I have to mention to you that again, you must not mark multiple lines when you make a misaligned line or wobbly one. Also I noticed more wobble here togheter with that. I will remind you to please give yourself enough time for every line. Remember that if it's taking too much time, you don't have to make the whole excercise in one sitting you can spread it through multiple days if necesary. Always give yourself enough time for every line. Also remember the 3 steps method and stick to it.

    1. You plan your line

    2. You prepare

    3. You execute the line

If said line comes out poorly just means that you ought to give yourself more time.

But you seem to have understood the point so I'll say it's okay.

    Rotated boxes

This one is fine You have all the boxes, you drew through them and though some were too similar to their neighbours most of them, and the ones afther those are rotating. So I'll say it's okay

    Organic perspective

This one if fine though again I remind you to not make multiple lines, that makes it more dificult to judge the exercice for reviewers.

    Next Steps:

For your next steps you will have to go and do the 250 boxes challenge, remember to also add this excercises to your warmup pool. Rememeber to always give yourself enough time to every line, and to stick to the 3 step method. Welcome to Drawabox and I hope you good luck in this journey!

Hello RO_LANI! I'll be giving you your critique today in order to make it more comprehensible I'll be breaking it down in chunks.

    Lines and planes

    Super imposed lines

This one looks fine I don't see fraying and almost no wobble or abrupt chanes on trayectory so that is fine

    Ghosted lines

This one looks fine. But I don notice some curvature in some lines, so I'll reomend you trying to compensate byt intentionally curving to the opposite direction to see if that helps. Also try to check that you are using your soulder ( try concentrating in the sensation or grabing your shoulder with one arm to check if you feel the muscle moving ).

    Ghosted planes

This one looks fine. Not much more to say for now

    Ellipses

    Tables of ellipses

They are fine. But they then to flatten on one side and it's consistently the side were I'll assume there was another ellipse first . So I'll asume is because it's a little more tryki to land those ones so I'll recomend planning them more from now on in order to avoid that.

    Ellipses in planes

This ones are fine. So that's all for plane related excercises

    Ellipses in funnels

This one is also fine you have them mostly alligned to the minor axis and they are confidently drawn are snugly fit in their funnel

    Boxes

    Plotted perspective

This one is alo fine You have the verticals perpendicular to the horizon you seem to have used the recomended tools and your edges do converge to the banishing points.

    Rough perspective

This one is mostly fine, but I do notice some wobble and corrections of trajectory here that were not present before. So I'll remind you to give time to every line, remember to give yourself the time necesary to do every line not to rush them just because you are making a box with them. But the excersice is fine.

    Rotated boxes

You have not followed the excercise. The boxes are hardly rotating, most of them are the same as their neighbor but translated instead of rotated. And you are not covering the 180 degre rotation from side to side as mentioned in the excercise.

    Organic perspective

They are fine. Some do have really strong foreshortening but they are fine in general. So I'll give it a pass.

    Next Steps:

I'll request you to redo the rotated boxes excersice because you seem to have lost the point on it. You are supposed to copy the neighbor's edges (you did that and that is fine) but you missed the 180 range rotation from side to side, togheter with the fact that you were suposed to use the borders of your own box to estimate the edges that were not adiacent to any box. Once that one is redone I'll give you the completion, this one is really important because using existing edges to aproximate banishing points is an hability that you will need going forward.

Again once that one is redone I'll give you the complete so remember to re read the materials

I wish you good luck and I'll be waiting that completion.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Hello Randomly! I do not understand what you meant in the message, but that is for latter, for no I will be the oe giving you your critique. I'll divide it in sections for eas of correction

    Lines section

    Super imposed lines

I don't see almost any woble and the fraying is limited to some particular lines so I'll say it's okay, though please refrain from making lines intersect at the ends. That makes it near imposible for reviewers to tell wheter or not a set of lines has fraying, witch makes them imposible to correct in good faith. But you have moe than enough ones to correct and reiterating they do look fine.

    Ghosted lines

I do see wobble here and some curvature on some lines, mostly on the small ones, so remember that you are menat to mostly use your shoulder, and remember the tree steps.

    1. Plan you line

    2. Prepare for the motion

    3. Execute the motion

Remember do not bother with correction of trajectory once you reached the third step, once you reached that one you ought to just do the motion.

afther that it's okay you should get more practice down the road.

    Ghosted planes

They present the same situation as the lines. I will just recomend you to re read the section of the course that reggards this topic but it's alright again just add it to your warmups.

    Ellipses

    Tables of ellipses

There is a consistent amount of ellipses just floating inside their boxes, and they are not confidently drawn (it is a common ocurrence to see a sharp change in direction making them look pointy).

I recomend you try with more circular ones first and get gradually ( as in changing every box not every ellipse ) to draw more oval shaped ones, remember also that you ought to attempt to make them in such a way that they try to touch the borders, then make smaller ones, just filling with allipses may be an option, but the problem is that just making the ellipse hit one border of other is not that effective as an excercise.

But I see you did an attempt at correcting that latter on. Just remember to re read the material and to do this as a warmup

    Ellipses in planes

This one is fine and I see you trying to touch the borders more consistently. Also the ellipses seem more confident this one is fine.

    Ellipses inside funnels

This one looks fine. The ellipses do touch the borders apropiately you seem to be attempting to aling them to the minor axis. So yeah, this one is right

    Boxes

    Plotted perspective

You do keep your verticals perpendiular, seem to be using a ruler and all the odges are being properly plotted back so I say that it's okay.

    Rough perspective

They look fine. I do notice an improvement in respect to the wobling problem presented before but the problem persist so rememeber the warmups and to re read the tree step method for drawing lines

    Rotated boxes

This one you will have to redo it. There is suposed to be 25 boxes, but I'm only seeing 14 also the edges are outright fused in some of them and lastly some of the 14 are not complete

    Organic perspective

Quite a few of the boxes are not convergin properly, please refrain for self correction by marking over them or to drawing multiple lines. That kinda maks it more dificult to correct on the long run, but you seem to be using the other lines to decide where to point the next line so that is good. I'll give it a pass but remember to look into the resources for the excercise and to please give it especial atention during your warmups. Do not worry though the next lesson afther ths one is the 250 boxes and you will have lots of practice there.

    Next Steps:

You should re do the whole rotated boxes excercise from scratch in order to confirm that you understand the excercise. following the material and re read all the links that I gave you during the correction. Remember to gie especial atention to the organic perspective excercise since the habilities learn't there will be crucial for you during the 250 boxes challenge.

    I let the links here

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/ghostedlines/wobbling

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/tablesofellipses

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/ghostedlines

    https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/roughperspective

Also please remember the 50% rule. Believe me a very important part of this is that you develop a liking for drawing and withouth the recreational time for it that will be very dificult so please give yourself recreational time with drawing.

I'll give you the completed once I see the rotated boxes completed. Hope you good look I know it's a lot of lines but it teaches you very important skills going forward.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Hello Flamingzilla01!

Congratulations on reaching this far! I'll giving you your critique.

    Lines:

    Super imposed Lines:

I see fraying on both ends. This will sugest that you were not giving yourself enough time to prepare for your mark. But I see that you were progrsively reducing it, so I'll just remind you to pay especial atention to this exercise once you have it as a warmup. Afther that it's good. Just remember to give yourself more time to prepare.

    Ghosted Lines:

So far so good. I do see some correction of your trayectory being done here and there. For that I'll recomend you to try centering your atention on the end point, and remember the 3 steps to line making

    1. Planing

    2. Preparation

    3. Execution

Remember to give yourself as much time as you need and to make yourself comfortable before making your line, try finding witch angle is more comfortable for you to draw in and do not be afraid to move your paper shet arownd if necesary. After that, most of the lines look good and, no wobbling and no arcing. So this one is good.

    Ghosted Planes:

You have the same problems as in the ghosted lines excersice. I that chaging course is kinda recurrent, so I will reiterate to stick to the 3 steps remember, once you start your mark you just trust in the you of step 1 and 2. If it fail somehow you can fix it later. Remember that you can work with a confiden yet inacurate line, not so much with an acurate but wobbly one.

    Ellipses:

    Tables of ellipses:

Your ellipses are touching the borders, you are drawing through them and they are evenly shaped so I give it a pass. Thoug the cell in collum 2 row 6 in the second page, the one withouth the I assume practie circles. will probably cause some controversy for people who come to give the agreements. But I'll say it's ok since if done is certain order it can fullfill the objective of the excercice.

    Afther that it looks fine.

    Ellipses in planes:

This ones look's fine I see the intent to hit all edges but they don't deform in weird ways to achieve that except for one or two that do scuash themselves to not overshoot but I just found like 2 or 3 so you are good. Good job.

    Funnels

This one is fine the funnels are touching the borders and then to be alligned with the middle.

    Boxes:

    Plotted Perspective:

Most of the boxes are fine, though I will mention that some edges are not perpendicular with the horizon. Remember to give yourself enough time to place your ruler and to aproximate the perpendicular line. But the excercies as a whole is fine.

    Rough Perspective:

This one looks fine. The problems in the ghosted lines excercise carryed over here but it's fine. I see no mistakes related to the excercise so this one is fine.

    Rotated Boxes:

This one is mostly fine most of the boxes are quite close to their neighbours, you followed the instructions for the creation, there are 25 boxes and the boxes are indeed rotating. So I'll say this one is correct.

    Organic Perspective:

It's mostly correct. But I have to mention the fact that you have quite a noticeable foreshortening (the lines are converging too fast to their VP) this can cause trouble in a composition because it creates an inconsistant sense of scale. When you have a composition with this many objets try to make the convergence slower (unless it's intentional for that especific composition of course). This does not mean to keep them paralel, because then you don't have perspective, it just means to work as if the VP where way farter away. For more reference please read this article

    Conclusion:

You have done well. The biggest problem percieved here whas the tendency to correct your trayectory but that will be fixed in the 250 boxes challnege. Please read the article in foreshortening tough to understand more on how it works.

Please note that your lesson is complete, withc means that you can go now into the 250 boxes, your will not get the badge yt though for that my correction must get two agreements, that may take more time, but you are ready for the 250 boxes.

    Next Steps:

You can go for those 250 boxes. Welcome to drawabox. I hope you good look in your next lessons!

    Hello Gaya414!

Congratulations on reaching this far! I'll giving you your critique.

    Lines:

    Super imposed Lines:

They look smooth and you have little to no fraying in the origin so I'll say it's fine

    Ghosted Lines:

I do notice a curbature in the little ones, but I notice it is not prevalent int the longer lines so that is good. Also I do notice som minor trjectory corrections but not a consistant wobble so I'll say it's okay.

    Ghosted Planes:

I do notice a tendency to wobble just a little in here, I will just recomend you to stick to the tree steps

    1. Planing

    2. Preparation

    3. Execution

Remember to give yourself enough time, put shourself and the paper shet in confortable position and remember that once you put the pen in the page you must follow the motion. But reitherating, It looks fine. Most of the lines are confident

    Ellipses:

    Tables of ellipses:

You followed the instructions pretty well. This one is fine.

    Ellipses in planes:

I kinda noticed a little deformation, basically it's like you are stretching the ellipses a tiny bit in order to make them touch the edges, Remember the main point here was confidence. This kind of mistake is the equivalent here of correcting course mid line. Remember when you use this as warmup to use the ghosting method and if you do overshoot, that is not that important here it's more important that you had the intention to reach the edge and to keep the even shape.

    Funnels

    This one is correctly done.

    Boxes:

    Plotted Perspective:

This one is also correctly done, though some of the vertical lines were a bit angled, just remember to always give yourself enugh time to do this excercise. Afther that it fine too.

    Rough Perspective:

This one is correctly done. Though I'll mention the woble of the lines in some the boxes, and remind you the 3 steps

    1. PLanin

    2. Preparation

    3. Execution

You must gie yourself enough time, and remember that you must give every line the time it needs. If it's taking you too much time rember that you can partition the work in multiple sittings

I will Refer you to this article on the cite. Afther that it's fine.

    Rotated Boxes:

You lack some boxes. It is supposed to be 25 but you got 16. The ones you have are more than half and It seems that you are using the neighbours to get the information as to were to plot your lines, so I'll just really recomend you to finish it but I'll say it's good.

    Organic Perspective:

This one is correctly done. Though I'm noticing you have problems when doing short lines since I see that the arcs are more prevalent here. I recomend you try to concentrate in using you whole arm when doing this kind of lines especially in order to correct that. Try and take a read at this section of lesson one.

    Conclusion:

You have done fine. So I give you the complete. Remember that you will not get the badge until my review get agreements from other users, but that's just for the badge in cite you are ready to go in to the 250 boxes challenge I'll recomend you to read the articles I linked you so take like 2 or 3 days before going into the challenge. I'll mention this on the discord to see if whe can get the agreements for the badge.

Welcome to Drawabox I hope you enyoi this course.

    Next Steps:

You should move into the 250 boxes challenge after taking a look at the articles I linked. Afther that I'll say you are ready to move one.

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
