Hi there, congratulations on finishing lesson one! :)

Your lines and ellipses look smooth and confident. Your boxes look good.

-Ellipses in Funnels: I see that you made an attempt to make your ellipses wider as they move further away from the center of your funnel, nice job.

-Rotated Boxes: It turned out pretty good. You've done a nice job getting the boxes to rotate. However, the gaps of between outer boxes are not very narrow and consistent. I think you should pay more attention to plotting and planning on where to place lines more accurately next time.

-Organic Perspective: When drawing the "Y" of the box try to make sure the angles are greater than 90° between each line to avoid it looking distorted. Also note that our lines must be extended away from the viewer, towards the implied vanishing point, never towards the viewer because extending in the wrong direction made some boxes of yours look more like trapezoidal prisms.

Great job overall, I think you're ready to tackle 250 box challenge.

    Next Steps:

The 250 box challenge is next.

Color and Light by James Gurney

Color and Light by James Gurney

Some of you may remember James Gurney's breathtaking work in the Dinotopia series. This is easily my favourite book on the topic of colour and light, and comes highly recommended by any artist worth their salt. While it speaks from the perspective of a traditional painter, the information in this book is invaluable for work in any medium.
