To add to what Binu said:

On the arrows specially the spaces between folds and the size of the folds aren't getting as big as they could, try to make them both grow exponentially.

The organic forms are pretty good, some of them are a bit pointy or bulge a bit, but other than that you're adhering to the simple form pretty well. Ellipses get a little bit wobbly as well, so don't forget that you should be focusing on confidence over accuracy.

Textures are overall well approached as well, just keep in mind that inside the form you can't draw silhouettes, only cast shadows, so you shouldn't have drawn the silhouette of every tentacle on the tentacle texture, only the parts that broke the silhouette.

Form intersections are pretty good overall, only thing is that some of your forms get into extreme perspective a bit. Keep in mind that in this exercise you should be drawing forms with consistent foreshortening as much as you can, to do this it's better if you make all of your forms have shallow foreshortening.

Lastly organic intersections is pretty solid. The only issue I have with it is that your forms are a bit complex at times. On this exercise you should have only simple forms, like the ones on the organic forms exercise, so no squished forms, or overly long forms with curves etc.

Overall this is a pretty good submission, so I agree with Binu in that you should move on to lesson 3, good luck! :D

    Hi, Gashif! :)

I think you've done a great job! There are few mistakes with the placement of shadows on the ribbons, but I feel like you already have a grasp of it, you just need to be more aware about the sides when marking shadows. And I'm marking this as completed. I'd recommend doing few more ribbons when you have free time.

    Good luck!

Hello ran, well done completing all the lesson 1 exercises.

    Lines

Super Imposed Lines: Good. Lines are drawn smoothly and only fray at one end.

Ghosted Lines: A couple of little wobbles here and there, but you clearly have the right idea, well done.

Ghosted Planes: A little bit of oveshooting, but lines are smooth and straight, good work.

    Ellipses

Tables of Ellipses: Good job keeping the ellipses within the bounds, each ellipse touching each other, without overlapping. You've drawn through them 2-3 times too, well done. A little bit of wobbliness on a couple of them, be sure to ghost these and draw from the shoulder. It gets easier with practice.

    Ellipses in Planes: Good work.

    Ellipses in Funnels: Good work.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective: Good work. If you're going to use hatcing lines, draw them with the same care as everything else.

Rough Perspective: Good understanding of the exercise. Good job keeping width lines parallel to horizon and height lines perpendicular to horizon.

Rotated Boxes: Good effort. You've got all the boxes in there, and you've drawn through them all too. Good use of plotting your points and ghosting to keep your lines stright too, well done. Rotation is fairly good too. Another reminder, if you're gonna hatch, do it neatly. Some of your hatching just looks scribbley here and it's such a shame because otherwise this is very nice work.

Organic Perspective: Good job. You're making the boxes smaller as they get further away and most of them are drawn cleanly. A couple of repeating lines though. No matter how off a line is, a student should never repeat it, they should keep the line as it if were correct and move on.

    Next Steps:

    Congratulations on completing lesson one!

Overall a very solid set of homework, well done.

Move on to the 250 box challenge.

Use lesson one exercises for warm ups.

Hello I'll review your lesson one for today.

Starting off with your superimposed lines, it looks okay. You're going back to the same point, and fraying is natural. They just need to gain a little confidence. Your ghosted lines are looking better and confident; not anything to worry about there. You're keeping the same confidence with ghosted planes and lines are staying accurate.

Your table ellipses are doing well. You're rounding them twice and making sure to fit within the bounds, as well as getting that circular shape. Same for the ellipses in planes. The ellipses stay within the planes and are having a strong and confident form. Your funnels are done well. They stay symmetrical on both sides of the ellipse, and are confident.

Plotted perspective has nice overlap and looks seems you're understanding vanishing points. In rough perspective you show a strong sense of understanding how you're supposed to trace back to the vanishing points. Try not to go over lines for the sake of fixing messups. Its a bad habit and can can halt progress. The rotated boxes are good. You got your full rotation and it seems you understand how boxes move in 3-D space. It is very good and I hope you didn't do multiple attempts. NIce rough perspective as well. Your organic perspective has good rotation. There is solid change in your initial Y and change in perspective. You used overlap as well. Good job. I'll assume those extreme lines are an attempt at line weight, but if its because you're not confident in your lines I really suggest you try ghosting a little more instead.

Just keep practicing those lines in your warmups and try to lower the opacity in you're boxes.

I think you did great and are ready to move onto the 250 box challenge!

    Lines

    1. The superimposed lines tend to divert, specially the long ones. Something to consider when doing this exercise in the future

    2. Your ghosting is curvy. Mine improved when I really focused on using my shoulder as the pivot. Good job and keep practicing

    3. The lines on your ghosted planes look more straight. When the preasure of hitting the final dot goes away it tends to make it easier to draw a staright line. Try to do that first and then later work on precision

    Ellipses

    1. The ellipses in the plane sis a tough exercise. You tried hard and there is more plractice here needed but for the starter they are ok

    2. The cones look pretty good and you stayed true to the 2 loops max goal

    Boxes

    1. Good job with the rough perspective

    2. The corners of the rotaing boxes are not complete, they are missing the lines behind, but youy had a good try

    3. Good job with the fading boxes

    Hello,

First of all, congratulations! I will make the critique per category.

    Lines

In the pages with the Superimposed Lines exercise, most of them look good. The lines will improve in time so keep practicing them as a warm up.

Ghosted Lines exercise - the lines are a little wobbly, you have to be really confident when drawing the line. I think if you combine confidence and use the shoulder pivot, they will improve in no time.

Ghosted Planes - it is really important to start the line and end it exactly where you have the points. I also see some wobbly lines , more confidence could help here too.

    Ellipses

Table of ellipses - Overall it is ok. Try to use them also as warm up exercise.

Ellipses in Planes - the ellipses should touch all the sides of the plane. Use the Ghosting method, it helps a lot and you can also rotate the page if you feel the need, in order to make a good ellipse.

Funnels - the funnel ellipses look quite nice, in some case a see space between them, I believe they should be more compact.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective - looks ok, I like that you overlap them. I think that the lines on the boxes could improve, I know they are optional but you can use the occasion to practice line accuracy.

Rough Perspective - It is a hard one for everyone. I would love to see more confident lines when constructing the boxes.

Rotated Boxes - this looks good, it is a complicated one but you should feel proud that you had the courage to start it and have beautiful results.

Organic Perspective - you will have time to learn more about the box perspective in the 250 boxes challenge. :)

    Congratulations for the first lesson!!

    Next Steps:

    Next step: 250 boxes Challenge

You can mix some exercises from this lesson as warm up for the 250 boxes challenge. Try to draw the boxes in sessions because sometimes you might get overwhelmed.

    Good Luck!

    Hello!

The first 2 exercises are not quite like the exercise asked.

Superimposed lines present some frying in the beginning and the lines should not be like spirals, like in the first picture.

Ghosted Lines - A wobbly line is a mistake, no matter how accurate, and a confident line will be correct, as with practice the accuracy will get better. Some of the lines are also arching, you should use the shoulder pivot and the ghosting method.

Ghosted Planes look better, you can see the lines improve.

Ellipses will improve in time. Keep in mind that the ellipses must be drawn confidently, prioritizing confidence and smoothness, over accuracy. I think you should try to draw through ellipses 2 to 3 times and use the Ghosting method before the pen touching the paper.

The boxes will improve in now time, as you will proceed with 250 boxes challenge.

    Good luck!

    Next Steps:

Practice 10 minutes of ghosted lines and superimposed lines before drawing. Also practice Ellipses when you have some time.

You can start with 250 boxes Challenge! Good Luck!

Line work for the most part is pretty good. There is some wobble, but with future studies (especially if you go on with the 250 boxes challenge), this should tighten up. Ellipses are tightly looped for a lot of them, but there are a significant amount that have a wildness/wobble to them. Be careful of those (it may be because you notice that they aren't going to hit neighboring ellipses or the frame, so you try to compensate, or that you want to hit them, but as a result, they are wobbling).

For the rough perspective homework, you need to extend your depth lines back to the horizon line in a different color pen. This is to help you see how far off you may have estimated the vanishing point.

Overall, your method is fine (nothing out of the ordinary except the rough perspective) and you seem to have a pretty good grasp of the line work basics.

    Next Steps:

Try the 250 boxes challenge next.

    Hello Darioszlain!

    Superimposed Lines

Looks like you are being a bit timid when making these lines. Really try and just go for it using your shoulder. Just make sure you always start on the same end. The lines improved immensely on the second page so you are on the right track!

    Ghosted Lines

The lines are still a bit wobbly here and some of the lines don't line up with the dots on either side. The dot you started on should atleast line up so make sure to take your time when committing to the line. Just keep doing these line exercises as warm ups and you will see lots of improvements

    Ghosted Planes

I will say the same thing with the planes. Don't try to slowly aim for the point you are going for. Start confidently and accuracy will come later. Also when doing the cross-sections make sure to still be using the dots as guidelines. By doing this you are practicing the ghosted lines while doing ghosted planes. These are also looking better on the second page! Keep it up!

    Table of Ellipses

Not sure how important it is in this exercise but make sure to follow the instructions clearly. Please follow how the table is shown in Uncomfortable's example, just to make sure you are not missing anything important by straying away from the instructions. The elipses are looking very confident which is great!I see for some of them you have only circled around twice. When starting it is best to start with three rotations. As you gain confidence you can reduce the number of rotations.

    Ellipses in Planes

The wobbles are starting to come back on this one. Make sure not to try an aim. One thing that i found helps is to just look at the center of the plane instead of following your pen. This will help in getting a cleaner more confident circle. It maybe off but slowly your ellipses will begin to fit in the plane nicely. Remember to ghost lots to make sure you are ready!!

    Funnels

These are looking pretty good! The ellipses are fitting nicely in the funnels. Make sure to watch out for the alignment and to continue to stay confident with your lines. When doing this exercise again try playing around with the angle of the ellipse. Have a shallower degree in the center and as you go out increase the degree making the ellipses closer to a circle.

    Plotted Perspective

Looking great! Really nice and clean. You can play around with the horizon when doing this another time. lower it, elevate or rotate.

    Rough Perspective

I noticed you kept the horizon line lower for all of them. Make sure try different things and dont be afraid to fail! By trying different things you can show yourself what yo get and don't. Your understanding of the one point perspective here looks solid, the line quality will come with practice.

    Rotated Boxes

This is a tough one! Your lines look very confident here! nice job! The only issue here is the convergence of the boxes. The box you drew next to the center box has being rotated but the boxes in the outer edges have a very similar vanishing point making the boxes look like they have not been rotated. When you rotate something the vanishing point of that object changes. This is hard to explain and understand so please let me know if somethings aren't clear.

    Organic Perspective

Your lines are improving lots! awesome to see. This as you know is another tough exercise, you did a great job. As you continue on to the 250 box challenge you will gain a better sense of how this all works!

Good luck on the 250 box challenge and continue to warm up with some of these exercises!

    Hi agreencreation,

    LINES

SUPERIMPOSED LINES: They are confident and no wobble , it is great

GHOSTED LINES :Lines are smooth, confident and no wobble, ghosting are done perfectly

PLANES : The planes are great

    ELLIPSES

TABLE OF ELLIPSES :They are confident,no overlapping ,they are good

ELLIPSE IN PLANE :They are not smooth ,but you drawn with confident, but it is good , with practice you can be achieved.

ELLIPSES IN FUNNEL :The minor axis cut all the ellipses into two equal halves correctly, they are good

    BOXES

    PLOTTED PERSPECTIVE: It is perfect

ROUGH PERSPECTIVE : Your width and height lines are parallel and perpendicular to the horizon, but some boxes are not parallel and perpendicular to the horizon, kindly note that point, otherwise it is great

ROTATED BOXES : it is perfect too. the spacing between the back face (corner) of the boxes seems good.you have to shade the boxes to show differentiation

ORGANIC PERSPECTIVE: The scaling of the boxes are done fairly. U will achieve ur perfect boxes in 250 box challenge

    All the best

    Cheers,

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
