    Hello!

Your lines and ellipses look really good! Some of the ellipses overlap, and on the funnel exercise remember that the minor axis should cut them in two symmetrical halves. But overall they look confident which was the point of this lesson, you'll be able to draw with more accuracy with time and practice.

You did really good on the perspective exercises as well! You didn't finish the rotated boxes though (english is not my first language, but i hope i can make myselff clear): you know how you have three rows of five boxes placed on the horizontal line? Well, there should be the same on the vertical line! It seems like you kind of missed that. But athe ones that you drew look really good and it seems that you understood the exercise.

And as for the organic perspective exercise, don't forget that the parallel lines of the boxes have to eventually converge at some point: some of them look like they are diverging. Remember that when you do the 250 box challenge!

    Good work!

    Next Steps:

250 box challenge! And don't forget to do some of these exercises as warm ups. Good luck!

    Hello!

Your lines look really good, although a lot of them are kind of curvy. Remember to draw from your shoulder and to rotate the page as much as you need to: maybe you need to find out in what angle you work best so the lines end up being more straight.

The ellipses look fine too, but there are some wobbly ones: try to prioritize confidence over accuracy right now, and for that you have to ghost the ellipses until you feel confident enough to actually draw them.

The perspective exercises are great! Just remember that you can add some lineweight on some of the lines of the boxes, so they don't get confused with the others and so you can emphasize wich side is closer to the viewer.

    Good work!

    Next Steps:

250 box challenge! And remember to do some of these exercises as warm ups. Good luck!

    Hello!

Your lines and ellipses look really good! They show confidence overall, although some of the ellipses are a bit wobbly: remember to ghost them as much as you need to before you actually draw them, you should prioritize confidence over accuracy right now, as you'll be able to draw more accurately with time and practice.

The perspective exercises look great too! Try to keep in mind, though, that the boxes have parallel lines that will eventually converge at some point due to perspective: I mention this because some of the boxes on the organic perspective exercise have lines that seem to be diverging. But don't worry, with the 250 box challenge you'll be able to see this in more depth.

    Good work!

    Hello!

Your lines and ellipses look really good! Some of them (the ellipses in particular) are a bit wobbly though, remember that right now confidence is more important than accuracy: this will come with more practice and time. Ghost as much as you need to before you actually draw the lines and ellipses with confident strokes.

Your perspective exercises are really good! There are a few boxes on the organic perspective exercise that look a little bit off: that's because the parallel lines should converge eventually at some point, but some of the boxes you drew have parallel lines that seem to be diverging. You will see more about that with the 250 box challenge, though. And as for the lineweight, you should add it with just one confident line after you ghosted it several times.

    Good work!

    Next Steps:

250 box challenge! And don't forget to do some of the exercises of this lessons as warm ups. Good luck!

    Hello!

Some of the lines are a bit curvy, remember to draw from your shoulder and to rotate the page when you need to, but overall they look really good and confident!

The ellipses look good too, although you drew through some of them more than three times. Remember to ghost as much as you need to, but just draw them two times, or three at the most. Also, on the funnel exercise, remember that the minor axis should cut the ellipses in two symmetrical halves!

The perspective exercises are fine too! But remember that you shouldn't draw some of the lines so many times, right now confidence is more important than accuracy, so even if you drew a line that wasn't really accurate, it doesn't matter, they'll be more accurate with time, don't rush and ghost them until you feel confident! And the same goes to lineweight: if you want to add some lineweight to some of the lines of the boxes, do it with confident lines.

    Next Steps:

250 box challenge! And don't forget to do some of these exercises as warm ups, try not to rush and take your time. Good luck!

    Hello!

Your lines look good overall, although there are some wobbly ones. It seems that on the ghosted lines and ghosted planes exercises you worried too much about the lines being accurate, but remember: that will come with time and practice, try not to focus too much on that: right now you should prioritize confidence over accuracy. Ghost the lines as much as you need to and remember to draw from your shoulder: the exercises don't have to look perfect, but the lines have to show confidence. There was some improvement with that on the organic perspective exercise though!

The same thing happened with your ellipses, but they do look more confident! Just remember that on the funnel exercise the minor axis (the horizontal line of each funnel) should cut the ellipses in two symmetrical halves.

The perspective exercises look really good, but I still recommend you do the 250 box challenge next, before starting lesson 2.

    Good work!

    Next Steps:

250 box challenge! And remember to use some of these exercises as warm ups in the future. Good luck!

    Hello!

Your lines and ellipses are a bit wobbly, although there was some improvement on the last few exercises, good job! Remember to always draw from your shoulder and to rotate the page and ghost the lines and ellipses as much as you need to before drawing them! Don't worry too much if they are not entirely accurate right now, confidence is more important at this stage than accuracy, this will come with more practice and time. Also, on the funnels exercises the ellipses are not always symmetrical: remember that they have a minor axis (the line you drew in the middle of each funnel) that should cut them in two symmetrical halves.

The perspective exercises look good! Just remember that you can add some lineweight on some of the boxes, you can try that on the 250 box challenge!

    Next Steps:

250 box challenge! Remember to do some of the exercises of this lesson as warm ups. Good luck!

    Hello!

Your lines look good, there are some that tend to be curvy towards the end though, when you ghost them try to do it several times from the initial point to the end point exactly, so that when you do draw the line you know when to finish it.

The ellipses are fine too! They show confidence, and that is the most important part of this lesson, so good work! With more practice you'll be able to draw them with more accuracy. Also, when you do these exercises as warm ups try to not leave so much space between them as you did on the table of ellipses.

The perspective exercises are also good, but try to practice adding more weight to some of the lines, so that they don't get confused with the others, like on the rotated boxes or the organic perspective exercises.

But overall you did really good! Try not to be so hard on yourself and to not re-do these exercises, you will keep doing some of them as warm ups anyways. Remember that the exercises don't have to be perfect, that's not really the point of making them!

    Next Steps:

    250 box challenge!

Sakura Pigma Microns

Sakura Pigma Microns

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
