Thank you so much for the in-depth review! I really appreciate the time you took to point out my errors and I'm excited to start working on correcting them >:)
Thank you so much for the in-depth review! I really appreciate the time you took to point out my errors and I'm excited to start working on correcting them >:)
Any time! Goodluck with your future endeavors.
Thanks for working so diligently on these! I can see you put a lot of time in and your skills have improved quite nicely.
One thing to note, there's a mistake present in many of your boxes, which is lines extended the wrong direction. This issue is talked about here and in my experience the best way to avoid this problem is to imagine where the lines are moving in space, if they're moving off the page and towards you the viewer, than they're the wrong way.
This being said, you can see that if you extend your lines properly there's a specific type of incorrect box that shows up somewhat regularly in your boxes, even your new ones.
On this page the #3 box has this issue.
I made a quick overdraw here to show what I mean.
Another tip that I think will be quite helpful to you is to think more about the relation of the parallel lines to each other, rather than just the relation to the vp (explained in this
Next Steps:
Go on ahead to the next lesson (although I see you already have finished lesson 2 lol) I recommend you continue to practice boxes in your warmups.
Thanks so much! I'll work hard to keep improving the future, thanks for pointing out my errors!
I think if you re-uploaded your boxes with the proper extension lines that would be helpful! Feel free to link your new album here and I can review it along with your new boxes :) no need to make a new post imo
tysm!! Thanks for the feedback :D I'll keep working hard >:)
tysm!! I'll keep this all in mind :))
No rush! You already work so hard on critiques T_T I'll be patient :)
Your boxes are looking quite nice! Congrats on finishing the challenge, you might consider Practicing more extreme perspectives and angles like you were doing in your mid-hundreds as you draw boxes as a warmup in the future but overall you could totally move on to some of the advanced box exercises.
Next Steps:
Go on to lesson 2 :)
Nice job finishing the challenge!
I'm making this as complete, however:
On a couple of the last pages you've played around with your boxes a bit, to the point of ignoring the point of the challenge (several boxes aren't drawn in their entirety and you haven't extended many of them.)
With this program, it's not about being entertaining, it's about the skills you learn.
Make sure to take lots of breaks and draw fun things too on the side, don't try to combine draw a box with more fun things it'll just lesson the value of both (if drawing boxes in different arrangements is fun to you, by all means do it, but it's not suitable for this course or challenge, especially when you don't follow the rules)
I really think you will learn a lot from this course, you already have! But you have to pay attention to what the exercises call for if you want the most out of them.
Next Steps:
Go on to lesson 2! (and lesson 1 if you skipped it, I don't see it on your profile)
These are what I use when doing these exercises. They usually run somewhere in the middle of the price/quality range, and are often sold in sets of different line weights - remember that for the Drawabox lessons, we only really use the 0.5s, so try and find sets that sell only one size.
Alternatively, if at all possible, going to an art supply store and buying the pens in person is often better because they'll generally sell them individually and allow you to test them out before you buy (to weed out any duds).
