you are right. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding

upon further review I think in reality your marksmaking had a really nice upgrade from the ghosted planes that had problems of confidence and the rotated boxes excercise where your lines are more straight and confident. so I won't ask you to redo the excercises but do them as warmup often.

what I'm going to ask is to redo the ellipses excercise, the searching lines are too messy and don't make the form visible, remember the 2 searching lines are supposed to make the form more visible, to fix this you should take more time ghosting, what worked for me with ellipses was to ghost the line multiple times and than make the mark not fast and not too slow.

to improve in normal ghosting line I can suggest ghosting the line alot of times and try to visualize it on paper and do it without hesitation, a thing that could work to make it more straight is to hold the pen a little higher. thanks for your feedback it will help me to make better revisions:)

hello, I will do the critique of your homework today, good job for completing the first lesson

(before I start, in your reply could you confirm to me if this is done on paper? it seems scanned but I'm not 100% sure)

Superimposed lines: the exercise is done well but you forgot to upload 1 page.

ghosted lines: The lines are wobbly but I dont want you to redo this excercise

Ghosted planes: The ellipses in Planes are done well, but the lines are wobbly and seem not ghosted enough, always remember to draw from the shoulder, i think you should re do this page, but only the ghosted planes dont redo the ellipses

Tables of ellipses: I think you didn't ghost the ellipses enough, I think you should re check the ellipses lesson and take your time while ghosting, one thing that worked for me was to take it a little slowly while putting the mark, but they are creative, and that's good. I think you should re-do 1 page.

Ellipses in funnels: you did good.

    plotted perspective: good job

Rough perspective: You did a good job with the perspective, but the lines have the problems as before + new problem that's trying to redo/cover the line, never do this it develops a bad habit. do 1 page

Rotated boxes: This exercise is done really well. good job

Organic perspective: This exercise is difficult but you did well, good job

i think you are almost ready for the 250 box challenge, have a nice day :>

hello, good job for your completion of lesson 1, I will do your homework critique today :)

Superimposed lines: The aren't confident, I suggest you do one more page

Ghosted lines: The lines are wobbly and not confident, it seems like you didn't draw from the shoulder and you didn't ghost enough

Ghosted planes: The ellipses in Planes are decent, the lines have the same problem as the ghosted line, redo the pages

Tables of ellipses: I'd like for you to redo the exercise completely. The ellipses are within the bounds most of the time but they are messy and seem done frantically and fast, without ghosting, they are not confident. the second page is decent . You need to take your time doing this exercise. One thing that worked for me is going a little slower when putting the marks. I think you should re-do 1 page.

Ellipses in funnels: The minor axis is cutting the ellipses in half most of the time as intended, the problem of the messy ellipses still persist, I don't want you to re-do this excercise just do it in your warmup excercises

Plotted perspective: You did well, good job

Rough perspective: You did a good job with the perspective, but the lines have the same problem as before, id like you to do one page of this too.

Rotated boxes: This exercise is done well even if you didn't use any type of shading.

Organic perspective: This excercise is difficult but you did well, the first page has the same lines problem as before, but you did extremely well on the second page

overall you have problems in your lines, I think you should ghost more and take your time while ghosting, you should re-do 1 page of super imposed lines, 2 pages of ghosted planes, page of table of ellipses and 1 page of rough perspective. I'm sorry if I've been too harsh but I'd like for you to get better at marks making before doing the 250 boxes challenge, have a nice day, take your time:)

hello! good job for completing the lesson 1, I'll do the critique for your work :).

this is probably one of the best lesson 1 homework I seen, there is no problem to work on, the only thing I can suggest is to practice ellipses a lot during warmup, other than that, I think you are good to start the 250 boxes challenge, good luck!

hi, congratulations for finishing lesson 1, you did most of the excercise really good, but you did a few exercise in these exercises:

superimposed lines: some of the lines frail at the beginning and end, so I want you to do another page of them, remember to think about the line when you ghost and always start where you made your first line, you tried to to this in a page of ghosted lines but I think you should retry.

ghosted lines: the lines in the first page are wobbly and seem without confidence, try to ghost more and do them with one quick line, but you fixed it in the second page, so I suggest you to not re do them but do this excercise as a warmup on the ghosted plane excercise.

funnels: the minor axis doesn't cut in half the ellipses, Id like for you to retry it.

1 point perspective: the problem isn't In the exceution of the excercise but more in the aftermath when you have to extend the lines or the boxes, so I'd like for you to finish the homework

rotated boxes: the excercise is not finished , on the left side it's nicely done but it seems you gave up on the excercise, try watching scilla stew video and analyze her method.

but all things considering the excercises were done well.

    good job

Hi, good job for completing lesson 1, I'll do the critique for your homework.

Superimposed lines: The lines seem to be fraying a bit on the longer lines, but I think it's normal. Overall, you did a good job.

Ghosted lines: The lines are wobbly and not really confident, like you are not ghosting the line. I want you to do another page and take your time ghosting the lines.

Ghosted planes: The planes are very good. Good job.

Tables of ellipses: I'd like for you to redo the exercise completely. The ellipses are within the bounds but aren't touching most of the time. They are not confident. I think you should ghost them more. You need to take your time doing this exercise. One thing that worked for me is going a little slower drawing the marks. I suggest rereading the page of this exercise and maybe watch some videos of someone doing this exercise.

Ellipses in funnels: You did a good job overall. The minor axis is cutting the ellipses in half most of the time, but the problem you had in the tables of ellipses exercise still persists. But I don't want you to redo this exercise.

Plotted perspective: You did well on this exercise. Good job.

Rough perspective: You did a good job with the perspective, but the lines aren't confident enough. I think you should redo one page of this exercise.

Rotated boxes: This exercise is done perfectly. Good job.

Organic perspective: This exercise is difficult. You did a good job here too. The boxes aren't perfect, but you will improve in drawing them during the 250 boxes challenge.

In short, I think you should redo the tables of ellipses, one page of rough perspective, and one page of ghosted lines. After this, you will be ready for the 250 boxes challenge! Good job.

https://imgur.com/a/6pNyXZE https://imgur.com/a/aKs4nFF sorry for the late links, I already have done 2 of the excercises, I had some health problem, so the organic perspective isn't as clear as I want it to be, still i started the 250 box challenge, I'm at 60, thank you for your feedback, your critique was wonderful

thank you for your critique, I re did those two, I tried to do ellipses more slowly and I think it worked, that you for your time! https://imgur.com/a/aKs4nFF

Marshall Vandruff's Perspective Course

Marshall Vandruff is a ubiquitous name in art instruction - not just through his work on the Draftsmen podcast and his other collaborations with Proko, but in his own right. He's been teaching anatomy, gesture, and perspective for decades, and a number of my own friends have taken his classes at the Laguna College of Art and Design (back around 2010), and had only good things to say about him. Not just as an instructor, but as a wonderful person as well.

Many of you will be familiar with his extremely cheap 1994 Perspective Drawing lectures, but here he kicks it up to a whole new level.
