I'll just like to add that a serious amount of boxes seemed to have their vanishing points in the wrong direction, which is especially visible in the third section of the last page. The construction methods in the Box Challenge should take care of this.

Some inconsistencies in the Rough Perspective exercise. Remember, those vertical lines should always be perpendicular to the horizon line. and those horizontal lines should be parallel to it.

A bit of distortion in Organic Perspective. Some boxes have seemingly parallel sets of lines, making them appear very flat and farther away that they actually are. Others have lines that are way off from the vanishing points.

There is also some irregularities in the line weight, I advise against drawing over your marks like that unless you know the "right way". (Explained in the Box Challenge notes)

Also, please try not to self-critique on your exercise paper.

The Box Challenge will be of great help in improving your understanding of how boxes rotate in 3D space.

You show serious improvement between the first and second page of the Tables Of Ellipses exercise.

Some of your Rough Perspective boxes have points that are placed slightly off, but your understanding of where they should be placed is good.

Your Rotated Boxes are well-done, but you add lots of unnecessary line weight on the Organic Perspective boxes, and some of them also have lines which converge incorrectly.

I would say that you're ready for the Box Challenge.

    Next Steps:

Yeah you should do the Box Challenge, good luck

Hey, some of your images aren't loading, imgur says they're gone, so I can't critique every page. But I'll still critique what's there.

Your superimposed lines have some fraying at the start, suggesting that you didn't take enough time to place the tip of your pen on the exact starting point of the line. There's a lot of fraying at the ends as well, but that's to be expected.

Your lines in general have a tendency to be quite wobbly and uneven. I would recommend moving your arm faster and keeping a dedication to your ghosted stroke, as is explained in the Lines section of Lesson 1 (can't go wrong with a rewatch).

Your ellipses share this issue as well, they lack smoothness. Making sure you use your whole arm and prioritizing the flow over the accuracy is the main tip I can give here.

Your Rough Perspective boxes are a little inaccurate, but you show a solid-enough understanding of where to place your points.

Your Rotated boxes are slightly asymmetrical, the biggest issue lies in the inner part. Your goal for the inner part of the spherical shape should be forming a small sphere with the bases of the boxes, just like the outer part.

Many of your Organic Perspective boxes feature strong distortion (and some look like they're triangular prisms), but the Box Challenge will be very helpful for fixing that.

    Next Steps:

Please send all of your pages, and after those are done and critiqued you may start the 250 Box Challenge, while doing about 10 minutes of Ellipses In Planes as a warmup.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Some of the Rough Perspective boxes are slightly tilted. Remember, the horizontal lines are parallel with the horizon, the vertical lines are parallel. This is always the rule in this exercise and in 1-point perspective (most of the time, at least.)

There is some size inconsistency with the Organic Perspective boxes, especially in the last imgur page. Some boxes have foreshortening that is way too dramatic, the best example is the overlapping box in the middle of the first imgur panel.

Advance to the 250 Box Challenge.

Hatching lines on Plotted Perspective were done rather sloppily, using a ruler worked much better for me.

The Rotated Boxes were too far apart, laying them closer together makes it simpler and less guesswork-y, and helps make it look less inflated. The boxes that are farther away from the center should also be rotated much more to achieve the spherical look shown in the lesson.

The Organic Perspective boxes are too close together and have too little variation in size. The line weight added to some of those is not recommend, the reasons for that are explained in the notes for the 250 Box Challenge.

    Tackle the 250 Box Challenge.

Nice work, some wobbly lines here and there (Especially on the Rough Perspective pages) and your organic cubes could use some work regarding distortion, but the 250 Box Challenge will cover that.

EDIT: My bad, I missed the date, you're likely way past this point now.

Did you use the line tool for the Rotated Boxes exercise? It's a good attempt, but the exercise is meant to be freehanded using the ghosting method.

Also in the Rough Perspective exercise, it's better to extend the lines completely until you reach the horizon line. Makes identifying mistakes easier.

    Next Steps:

One page of Rotated Boxes using the ghosting method, and two pages of Rough Perspective with the lines fully extended to the horizon line.

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Faber Castell PITT Artist Pens

Like the Staedtlers, these also come in a set of multiple weights - the ones we use are F. One useful thing in these sets however (if you can't find the pens individually) is that some of the sets come with a brush pen (the B size). These can be helpful in filling out big black areas.

Still, I'd recommend buying these in person if you can, at a proper art supply store. They'll generally let you buy them individually, and also test them out beforehand to weed out any duds.
