Very beutiful, keep up the great work.
Very beutiful, keep up the great work.
Very Pretty, can I ask the inspiration for this.
Theese Look lovely, Lot's of details and pretty things in them.
Hello, my name is WoodPanda, and I am one of the community members who will be critquing your work.
Let's start with Lines
Super Imposed Lines: Starting off with Super Imposed Lines, I can tell you are drawing them with a lot of confidence, and fluidity. Genreally in Drawbox we value confident markmaking a lot, so you did good on this front. However one thing I wanted to point out is you have fraying on the begining end of your line. Usually, marks splitting of at the end is normal, because it's hard to keep a consistent trajectory, but we should always have our pen at the same starting point.
Ghosted Lines: You are placing points and using the ghosting method which is a good sign. It also seems your marks are confident are for the most part straight. It seems like right now you are at Level 2. It is smooth, confident, and mostly straight, but sometimes you miss your point. This is of course expected, and as we do more extercise like theese we build up are ability to be accurate, but remeber confidence always comes first.
Ghosted Planes: You are placing dots, and using the ghosting method, so that is a good sign. They are confidentally drawn, and I see no wobling. One thing I do want to call out however is it seems that sometimes it appears that your ellispe is only given one pass. Genreally in Drawbox we want to draw through our ellispe twice, and no more, and it is a motion that will help you signficantly. You didn't always make this mistake, but I figure it's something to keep mindful moving forward.
Table of Ellispes: Okay, so it seems like your ellispes are confidently drawned through twice. I have no comment
Ellispes in Funnels: Seems like you are splitting the ellispes in half using the minor axis, and mostly drawing through them here. Good job
Rough Persepctive. It seems like you are still using dots, ghosting your lines and drawing confident, which is pretty good. You are also drawing through your form like you had X ray vision, and show good understanding of how the VP works. Sometimes your line confidence falls short, so just make sure you are using the ghosting method and planning your strokes.
Plotted Persepctive: Okay, your line quality is amazing on this, and you seem to get how the vanishing point works in this type of persepctive. THere are thigns I want to call out. You seem to have crosshatch 2 different planes of the boxes, and usually in drawbox we use our crosshatching to show which one is facing the viewer. I would just stick to crosshatching one. You also sometimes postion your form really close to the VP sometimes, which there is nothing wrong with that. It's good you are praticing it, but try to have a lean more towards shallow forshortening, which means the forms you draw our falling somwhere in between the 2 VPS. Other then that great work.
Rotated Boxes: You seem to have a strong understanding of 3D space, and I can tell you are thinking about how the boxe rotates as the VPS slide along the axis so good job. Lines are also nicely confidentally drawned.
Organic Persepctive: You are doing a good job of making ur boxes shrink as they get further away from the viewer, also good job on line work. Sometimes you have sort of wobbley lines, but it is no problem. I can tell you are getting the point of the extercise.
All in all nice work for Lesson 1, and good luck in the rest of the lessons.
I will mark this lesson as complete.
Next Steps:
Don't forget to Draw through your ellispes twice
Use the ghosting method for every mark you make in this course.
Congradulations on starting Drawbox, I am WoodPanda, the person who will be critquing your Lesson 1 Homework.
Super imposed Lines- Starting off your lines seem drawned confidentally, and I don't see any fraying on the starting end, so I think your doing a fine job starting off.
Ghosted Lines- Okay, so you are doing a good job drawing confidentally and planning your marks using the ghosting method. Currently it seems like you are at about level 2, meaning It's confident and most of the time you meet your marks. Sometime the trajectory is off, but that is normal and expected. I would say you have good confidence and smooth marks, so next work on your accuracy, but never sacrficed confidence for accuracy.
Ghosted Planes- Your lines look smooth and confident, and it also appears like you are applying the ghosting method, so I have nothing to say for this.
Ellispes in planes- You are mostly drawing through your ellispes 2 times which is good. The only thing I can point out is that it seems a lot of times they aren't touching the corners of the planes, or you weren't aiming for it. However, you did the former quite well, so I think you are on the right track.
Table of Ellispes- It seems like you did a good job drawing through them and making a second pass. They also seem to mostly be kept in bounds. Some ellispes I notice start overlaping another and geniunely we want to avoid that, and keep them nice and snug.
Funels- You are doing a good job at alligning them to the minor axis, which is the part that cuts the ellispe in 2 symetrical halfs, if you remeber it from Lesson. Only thing I wanted to point out is sometimes your ellispes have a slight weird shape and appeared to be a little bit deformed. Like, it appears you where drawing them from your hand, and not your shoulder. Just know that you should be confidentally drawing through your ellispes using a second pass. Other then a few oddities I notice, I think you did a great job on this extercise, and you are definetly getting it.
3.Boxes
Plotted Persepctive- You did a great job at Plotting your lines, and drawing through your forms. Genreally drawing through it helps us understand how they exist in space, so good job.
Rough Perspective- Nice job drawing through your forms, and I can tell you are thinking about how the lines converge to that vanishing point. The only thing I want to point out it seems like your line confidence is suffering a little, some lines look heistant or a littly bit wobbly, which is not uncommon at this point. Just remeber to use your dots to plan out your lines and use the ghosting method.
Rotated Boxes- This is extremly well done, and I can tell you are thinking about your boxes are rotating, and have a good graspe of the space it occupies. You are also keeping the edges close to eachother and mangable, so that's good. I previously called out line confidence, and same applies for here. Still, lots of people have a ton of trouble with this, and I think you knocked it right out of the part.
Overall I think you displayed enough understanding of this chapter, and you are ready on to Move on to lesson 2. Good luck, and good work!
Next Steps:
Don't forget to plan your lines using dots
Draw through all your ellispes twice
Try to keep your ellispes more tangent to eachother in the future.
Excute your lines more confidentally when drawing boxes
Okay, so I think a good idea would be to section of this critque in 3 sections. Lines, ellispes, and boxes.
Okay, so starting with super imposed lines. I think most of the time you manage to start on the same line, and your strokes are nice and confident, so that is good. I however notice a few instane where there is a tiny bit of fraying on the starting end. In genreal you want to start on the same postion everytime with your pen, and excute and nice quick mark. Sometimes this is a sign we got a little hasty, but all in all I think you did really well in it. Moving on to Ghosted lines most of them are straight, and look confidently drawn so that is a plus. Genreally in drawbox we value confidence over accuracy. You have level 2 right now in the regards that it is straight, smooth, and consitent, but you miss your points a little bit. This is of course is expected and the more we draw confidentally the better our accuracy will become. Moving onto the ghosted planes; It seems like you stop placing dots at this point. A starting and ending dot is important for the ghosting method, and must not be skipped.
2.
Starting with Table of Ellispes, most of them are drawned confidentally and I can tell you drew though them mostly 2 times. Also, most of them are in bounds and touch the corners, so I said you did a good job on the accuracy department as well. Sure there are a couple of areas where they go off the perimeter but accuracy comes after confidence, and I said you did both pretty well. In funnels most of your ellispes are drawned pretty dang well giving it 2 passes, but I notice some of them are cut uneven. Genreally we use the minor axis to cut them in 2 symetrical halves as stated in the Lesson 1 Notes. Some areas you failed short like the way bottom table on the right. You also have a few that seem to be pointed downwards line bottom left of the page. Still, I think you did a great job with confidence, and alligning them, so great job.
3 Boxes.
The plotted persepctive looks done extremly well, and you are drawing through the form which is a great start, and also it seems like you are using hatching to clarify what side is facing the viewer. Nice job.
In Rough persepctive you did a mostly great job at keeping width lines and height lines parrlel to the horizoin. I think in theese you are struggling a little more with line confidence a few lines seem to lack a little bit of confidence, but its not uncommon and I have seen you can make confident lines, so just keep working on it. Moving onto rotated boxes, it seems like your corners are always being kept close, so good job on that. It also seems like you are thinking about how the VPS slide to rotate the box, so good job in that department. Organic persepctive your lines are drawn really nicely, and good for this stage. I think though that you could make the boxes in front much bigger, and the ones in the back smaller so you could see the depth more. I think making them too simmilar in size ruins the depth que and makes us think that we are just drawing on a flat piece of paper. However, I can tell your thinking of this somewhat, and you did a lot of good things. I just think you can push the ones in back to get much smaller to give it that huge 3D affect. Overall your organic persepctive was nicely done. You had a fine Lesson 1, sure some mistakes, but none that are uncommon, and you seem to be getting the purpose of each extercise. I'm going to Mark this as complete, and good luck in Lesson 2 if this reply gets another agree.
Next Steps:
Remeber to
Plan your dots, and use ghosting method
Allign your ellispes.
Try to push depth shrinking if you can( This isn't a end all be all, jsut something I wanted to mention)
Good job, and feel free to move onto lesson 2.
Tried to work on my sasuage forms, and focus on more addictive construction.
I always found underwater locations like atlantis and stuff really cool. Sunket ship is a particular theme I like that induces horror. The piece is quite cool, and I liked the way the water gets kind of murky. Also, the details on the ship are very readeble. Good job.

Marco Bucci's got a ton of great courses available on proko.com, including some of the best videos you can find on using colour and light. Since a lot of our students want to break into working with digital painting however, I thought this course in particular would be a great start to get into the weeds with how to navigate the confusing world of layers, brushes, and more.
This course highlights programs across the full spectrum of options, ranging from the current industry standard Adobe Photoshop, to the Free-and-Open-Source darling Krita, as well as the mobile favourite, Procreate.
