    Hey!

    • Superimposed lines. I think these are a fine start. The main thing i notice is that you have a bit of fraying on the starting point. Remember that the "source" should be even and appear to be a single "flawless" origin point. It is fine if it splits of frays midway or near the end(altough you want to work that out eventually) but you can easily keep it smooth at the start if you just take your time. Do it slowly. You are in no rush here. The worth of this exercise is in the steps you take to perfect it and not how good it becomes or how "fast" you can do it.

    • Ghosted lines. The main thing i notice here is that your lines wobble a lot. I think you should also include more short/medium length lines to give yourself an easier time practicing as well. There is a bit of arching as well but the main thing i think you should work on is to gain more confidence in your lines to eliminate the vobble.Remember confidence over accuracy. You want to ghost several times then confidently make pt the pen down and repeat the motion. This will guarante a more confident line even if it is not accurate. It takes time but keep practicing.

    • Your elipses are pretty good! Some of them are a bit wobbly/lack confidence or go outside the boundry and do not properly collide with each other but overall you did a good job! Some of them fit inside their ghosted planes pretty well as well. Altough the wobble is a bit more noticable there so work on it.

    • Your funnels are actually very good for a first try. Most of them fit inside the funnel rather well and aint to shabby either! Main thing i noticed is a few of the funnels are not divided 50/50 so try to make sure the line divides the funnel more evenly.

    • Plotted perspective looks solid. Not much to say about it. Good work! Maybe draw them a bit bigger.

    • Rough perspective. Pretty good! You got rather close to the VP and some of the boxes aint to bad. Bit of a wooble but i know you will work on it!

    • I dont know much about rotated boxes im afraid but it looks fine. They fit rather snuggly together and there is some motion to it.

    • Organic perspective looks good! I would say that you should push the size/perspective even more by making some boxes bigger though and other smaller. The boxes themselves look good(Even if that aint the focus here) but some of the drawings are a bit "stale" and could use a bigger difference betwen sizes to really push the sense of scale and distance.

Overall a good job! You seem to grasp most of the things l1 teaches you.

I would advice you to repeat the ghosted lines/superimposed lines to get some extra practice in keeping what i said in mind.

After that just make sure to do them when you warm up and you will improve in time.

    Good luck!

Hey! I totaly forgot to log in so im sorry for responding only a month later. But i am sure you moved on and have made progress.

I just want you to know it is totaly normal to feel like you aitn getting anywhere. Getting good straight lines take time. Just keep practicing.

    Hey there welcome!

    • Superimposed lines. These look pretty good. THe main thing you should work on here is reducing the arching of the lines. To do that you just need to practice your confidence and improve your capacity to draw straihgt lines. THis takes time so just keep at it

    • Ghosted lines. The main thing i notice here is how most of the lines are not straight. You should priortise confidence and maintaining a straight non wobbly line. This takes priority over accuracy. To improve on this i suggest you do the ghosting motion several times and then commit to it. Dont hesitate, dont do it to slow and not worry about hitting the other dot. Other then that i see a few good ones so i think you are on the right path you just need to practice more.

    • Ghosted planes. These look a lot better in terms of confidence and straight lines. not much to add here aside from what i already said earlier. Just keep at it with the same ideas and feedback i gave earlier. Also remember to plot your lines. It can help in the ghosted planes.

    • Table of Elipses. This is a great start! The main thing of note is that some of the elipses go outside of the table/box which you want to avoid. Some of them also seem to lack confidence but overall it is very good. Overall you seem to also have rememberd to draw through the elipse 2-3 times. Good work on that.

    • Funnels. Good work on these! Same note about the elipses as earlier. Some of them seem to sort of get a bit missy/jumbeld together near the middle. The main thing i notice is your minor axis is often missalligned. IT should cut your funnel/elipses in 2 symetrical halves. Most/all of your funnels are sort of missalligned and are not evenly divided and the axis often does not aim in the right direction. To improve this you should just keep practicing and take it slow. Good work

    • PLotted perspective. I cant really see that well due to the image being kind of blurry and zoomed out. For future submissions make sure they are good quality. But from what i can see these look good/Solid. You seem to understand the theory behind it and lines look clean and solid. Nice work

    • Rough Perspective. I cant really see that well here either but the red lines appear to converge pretty evenly to the vansihing point so it seems you did a good work on it. The boxes themselves look a bit wobbly and non confident however. Remember the rules of ghosting and having clear plotted points as i noted in the ghosting part.

    • Rotated boxes. I was never taht good with this one myself so i cant give to much feedback here. But they look good from what i can see. The lines are kept close togetehr overall and they have some visible rotation. Good work

    • Organic perspective. Good start! The main objecithve here is tp ush the perspective and "organic" part of it and less about the boxes being accurate. However i think you should try to really push it more by having a larger vareity in the size of the boxes. So try to make some of them really big and some small. Right now many of the boxes are roughly the same size and just sort of repeat. Aside from that it looks good. Nice work.

Overall a very good start. Well done!

I think you have done a good job. However i think it would be wise to redo the ghosted lines and superimposed lines for that little bit of extra practice. While you wont suddenly get a lot better by doing a few pages i think it is worth doing them with the feedback i gave in mind. Other then that i think you have done a good job and should move on to the box challenge after you have done the revision and shared it.

2 filled pages of the Superimposed Lines exercise

1 filled page of the Ghosted Lines exercise

hey! Great work. I see some improvment as well.

Again these things take time so it is totaly normal to not suddenly fix the problems lol.

I think you can move on to the next lesson/box or whichever you choose to do.

The main thing i notice is your elipses. I think you are doing them way to slow. They are very wobbly and often break shape and become all chatoic.

You should draw them very fast. Ghost the elipse motion and then let the fineliner touch the paper and do the motion 2-3 times.

As you said "I think I focused too much on accuracy here and thus the confidence of the lines suffered."

Which is correct. You should get confident first before worrying about accuracy.

Obviously they dont need to be perfect. As you can see in the elipse section of the lesson Imposter gives an example of what your elipses "look like now",what they "will look like" and what your aim is for them to look like.

For now you want them to be confident and not wobble much. AFter that you can focus more on accuracy and having them be "perfectly overlapping" but that takes time.

Organic perspective looks better as well. It is difficult but you did well. Maybe try to push it a bit more but thats not a priority or anything.

Keep focusing on confidence and having straight lines on your ghosting lines. That takes priority over accuracy.

But keep it up! I think you are ready to move on to the next lesson. JUst dont forget these instructions/Tips and keep practicing with them in mind during warmups and when you do other dab homeworks and you will improve!.

    Good luck!

    Next Steps:

The 200 box challenge is the next step in general. I recomend doing that.

    • Superimposed Lines. These are a great start. However i notice some wobble and fraying fairly early in some of them. Make sure you do the ghosting motion several times and be confident and accept the result. Dont worry as mcuh about missing as having confidence.

    • Ghosted lines. You rememberd to designate a start/end point. Good. They are a fine start. However same as before you have a bit of wobble and arching. Make sure you use your shoulder and keep ghosting many times to get a feel for it. Confidnece is key. Super imporant. But good work overall.

    • Elipse Table. I think you have done a good job at keeping them snuggly/together and inside the border. A few stand outs here and there but overall it is a great start!Keep taking note and watch out for the border and you will get them all to fit within perfectly in no time! As for the elipses themselves they are a bit varied but you did a good job overall. The bottom ones on page 1 and page 2 show great improvment then from the start. However i notice a few of of them break down/clear yo ugave up mid way or lost confidence. Additonaly a few of them seem to not have been done with the repeated/2/3 time motion. Keep that in mind. However overall you did a good job with them.

    • Ghosted planes/elipses. Good work on these! Many of them look a lot more confident and fit quite well within the ghosted plane. A few stil ldo miss the mark and dont quite fit or touch the edges so just keep that in mind and ghost as mcuh as you feel you need.

    • Funnels. I think your funnels are good.A few of the elipsesa re not cut 50/50 by the minor axis so keep that in mind but other then that i think you have kept them fairly nice and snuggly with each other.A few of them dont quite touc heach other but just keep practicing and you will nail it.

    • Plotted perspective. Looks good. Good lines and hatching

    • Rough perspective.Your main struggle here appears to be ghosting. Your boxes are very wobbly and lack confidence. Just keep the advice i gave for ghosting lines in mind and keep practicing. Your extension lines/boxes are also off by quite a bit at some of them but that is normal for this exercise. You will get plenty of practice later on with boxes and oppertunies to understand dhow boxes are constructed and how vanishing points work.

    • Rotated boxes. LOoks solid. Neatly stacked and appear to rotate. The hatching is also well done and helps show the side of the box etc.

    • Organic perspective looks good. However you could stand to use a bit fewer boxes and increase the difference in size to give more depth to the boxes and perspective. Some of the lines also look a bit wonky/woobly so keep that in mind.

Overall good work! I think you are ready for lesson 2 as you appear to get the lines etc and just need more practice. You will have plenty of time to work on your boxes. Just keep doing warmup with lines to improve your confidence.

Remember to keep this in mind for the boxes as well. Take your time. Clearly plant your end/Starting point and ghost as many times as you need to. Confidence above accuracy. Always.

    Good luck!

    Next Steps:

I think the box challenge is the ideal next step so you can learn to understand boxes and get practice in constructing them, bothin a theortical/perspective sense and making your lines on the boxes more confident.

Hey! I am only at lesson 4 and aint done a lot of critqiue but i will do my best to give you some CC

Starting off with your ghosting lines i think you are off to a good start!

You appear to have done a decent job at plotting them and remembering to put down a starting point and finishing point.

The main thing i notice is that you have quite a lot of wobble on them. As the Draw a box article says

"In drawabox you should always prioritize confidence over accuracy.

A wobbly line is a mistake, no matter how accurate, and a confident line will be correct, as with practice the accuracy will get better."

While some of your ghosted lines do hit the mark overall some of them are very wobbly and it is pretty clear you did not have a lot of confidence when you ghosted/drew them.

Of course i dont mean to say this to discourage you it is totaly natural and i had the same issue as well. Think of it like this.

"Your goal should be a confident line that is smooth and straight. It is fine if it misses. A missed confident line is a success/better outcome then a wobbly non confident line that still hits the end point.

Some of your ghosted lines also have a bit of arching. It is not major but still worth to keep note off and try to improve on. Make sure to use your shoulder and ghost plenty of times so you get a good feel for the motion. But it is also just something that will improve with time so keep it up.

For the superimposed lines i think you did a good job as well. I noticed a bit of fraying on the starting point of some lines. Try to make sure to put down a clearly defined start point/Dot then always start from it. Take as much time as you need.

You also have the same wobble and lack of confidnece in most of the superimposed lines so keep working on that. Same with the arching. But good work overall

    As for your elipses...

    The elipses are quite varied.

The main thing i notice is a lack of confidence and drawing through the elipse to many times.

THe preferable ammount of times you want to do the elipse motion is 2 time. Many of your elipses appear to have been drawn through several times. Like...5-8? I am not sure. But 2-3 is enough. This is to help you keep confidence and minimize clutter.

In the elipse table you have done a decent job at keeping them from overlapping each other. But you still have a bit of floating elipses that dont properly touch or rub up against each other.

    Keep that in mind.

Also off note but avoid adding your own text or sketching/weird colors to the pages. Stick to the fineliner and dont add any text or sketches. Keep the contents of your page to just the DAB lesson.

Lastly make sure to keep your elipses within bounds.

You did a good job at keeping them inside the table i think but for th ghosted planes you often went outside the plane or did not "fit" the elipse within it.

Your goal should be to touch all four corners of the plane. But of course priortise confidence and smoothness over accuracy if you have to.

    Now for the funnels.

I think you did a great job on these! Confidence/woobling lines non withstanding you fit the elipses in rather well and managed to cut the elipse in half with the minor axis and you also kept the elipses quite tight and snuggly within the funnel. Great job.

Just make sure to practice the wobble/confidence and try to squeeze them together just a bit more.

Great job on your plotted perspective. Solid lines, good hatching and you did the see through well.

Good start on rough perspective. It is a difficult once.

I noticed you had a lot of wobble and also darkend the lines a lot on some of the boxes for Lineweight . Dont repeat lines more then twice and do it carefully with ghosting.

Overall i think you appear to have understood the rough perspective etc but just make sure to work on the boxes themselves. Keep practicing your lines, confidence and line weight.

Solid work on rotated boxes. I am not great at that one myself but you seem to have done a good job at keeping the boxes close to each other and they appear to be rotating. Good work

    Good work on organic perspective.

Main CC i have for you there are your lines. Same issue as earlier with a lack of conidence and wobble.

You should also be more bold. Make the difference betwne the boxes bigger, make some really huge and some more small to really push the perspective.

    OVerall great work!

You did good on on most of the things and appear to understand the theory/logic behind a lot of the boxes and other homeworks.

Your primary issue/What you should focus on is 100% confidence and getting rid if your wobbly lines.

It is very imporant for DAB overall.

I would avise you to redo the ghosted lines homework.

This includes superimposed lines, ghosted planes and ghosted lines.

Make sure to save the planes for the next part in which i would recomend you do the ghosted planes with elipses.

Overall you did a good job but i think you would benefit greatly from practicing your lines so you can improve your capacity to prevent wobbly lines and gain more confidence. Same with the ghosted plane elipses.

By doing this you will benefit greatly later on when you do the box challenge in which you will need confident strokes as well as practice your elipses for future lessons.

    GOod work! keep it up!

Thanks! Long way to go but good i am on the right path. I will keep practicing leaves and branches in warmup and do plants now and then.

Thank you! I will move on to l4. Seems fun. Will post some time and i hope you will join me and give me your helpfull critiuqe.

Here ya go. Some are far worse then others and remember to stick to basic shapes was a bit hard and i probably failed a few times. But i think one of the papers was okay.

I learnt a lot/had to rethink some stuff and i think i am on the path to improvment. Take your time

Sorry for late reply hehe. But yeah (s)he aint given a reply yet. I ort of took a mini break from dab due to reasons but will try to do the last 3 pages of plants and then submit to you.

After that i think they claimed they would reply and CF me and il return their info to you.
