Thank you, I really do appreciate the time you've given to critique my work. I'll certainly revisit ellipses and funnels in anticipation of their return in future lessons. They're a great reprieve from all of the straight lines! I was a fan of the rotated box exercise too; it's definitely above the paygrade of those getting started with lesson 1 but that's when the sense of spatial reasoning started to click with me. It feels good to start using it with the box challenge and when drawing on my own.

I know I'm guilty of redrawing lines. I still have to understand that one that's a bit off or wobbly is better than the complications that come with trying to fix it. This is especially true when actively drawing and thinking that I can fix it in the moment. I'll resist that temptation with the additional 50 boxes for the challenge.

Yes, I had a terrible time trying to upload this to Imgur and I couldn't edit my post after submitting it. I'll be resubmitting this challenge on the official track when it's ready and will use a new method of image hosting.

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
