I don't think you should repeat the rotated boxes. This exercise is meant to be difficult. You aren't expected to be perfect at this, you just need to follow the instructions to the best of your current ability which it looks like you did. You will get plenty of practice throughout the following lessons so there is no need to try to achieve perfection.

Welcome back! Learning new skills can be challenging but also very rewarding. These homework assignments are meant to be difficult but that is why it is good to spend 50% of your drawing time on just having fun and now worrying about the end result too much.

Your new pages show lots of improvement. Your ellipses look clean and consistent. Be sure to ghost each line for your boxes and aim for that one confident stroke. Overall, well done and I think you are ready to move on to the 250 box challenge. Good luck with your boxes and don't forget to draw for fun!

There are some slight wobbles in your superimposed lines but overall they look smooth and consistent. Your ghosted lines look confident and they maintain the correct trajectory. You didn't draw through your first few ellipses but you did a good job drawing through the rest of them.

Your ellipses in planes are a bit deformed so this exercise would make for a good warmup in the future. Ghosting more should help you make smooth elliptical shapes. Your ellipses in funnels look fairly well aligned to the minor axis and the spaces between the ellipses looks nice and snug.

For your rotated boxes, the gaps look narrow and consistent. For your other box exercises, some of your lines are difficult to see and I assume it may be because your pen might be dying but if that isn't the case try to make a more clear line. Overall, well done and good luck with your boxes!

Your superimposed lines look smooth and consistent. There are some slight wobbles and arcing in your ghosted lines but overall they look confident and they maintain the correct trajectory. For your table of ellipses, the spaces between your ellipses looks good but some of them have a bit of distortion so I would recommend doing a bit more ghosting so your marks will be more confident.

Some of your ellipses in planes look a bit too loose but ghosting your marks should help you place your marks with more intention. Your ellipses in funnels look fairly well aligned to the minor axis but some of your ellipses are a bit deformed which could be caused by not enough ghosting or drawing too slowly. Some of your lines for the rough perspective exercise were a bit wobbly but I noticed there was an improvement in line quality for your organic perspective exercise so good job there.

Overall, well done and I believe you are ready to move on. I noticed you already completed the box challenge so good luck with lesson 2!

    Move on to lesson 2.

Your superimposed lines look smooth and consistent. Your ghosted lines have some slight wobbles but most of them maintain the correct trajectory. For your table of ellipses, it looks like you drew through your ellipses more than three times which is fine but the instructions say drawing through the ellipses two times is ideal. Your ellipses look nice and snug and the degree of the ellipses look fairly consistent within each section. Your ellipses in planes look fairly smooth and have minimal deformation. Your ellipses in funnels look aligned to the minor axis and the spacing between ellipses looks good. For your rough perspective, it looks like some of your boxes were not drawn according to the instructions which state:

In one point perspective (which we are using for this exercise), you have the following behaviours:

1.All lines that go off into the distance converge at the vanishing point
    1. All horizontal lines run perfectly parallel to the horizon

    2. All vertical lines run perfectly perpendicular to the horizon

In the future, I recommend reading each lesson carefully so you can get the most out of each homework assignment. With your box exercises I noticed you have some line corrections. Do your best to aim for one confident stroke after ghosting a few times. Your accuracy will improve over time with practice. Overall, you are off to a good start. Good luck with your boxes!

Your superimposed lines look pretty good, there are only some slight wobbles on some of them. There is a slight arc in your ghosted lines but as you practice drawing from your shoulder that should improve over time. For your table of ellipses, on your first page the ellipses are drawn too far apart but it looks like the spacing got better on the second page so good job there. Some of your ellipses in planes look a bit rushed so I recommend slowing down a bit and utilize the ghosting technique to help you make a more confident stroke. Some of your ellipses in funnels look fairly well aligned to the minor axis but some of them could be more snug. With your box exercises, I noticed some line corrections and you want to avoid doing this in the future. Take the time to practice ghosting your line while aiming for one confident stroke and don't worry about the result being perfect. Accuracy will improve over time with practice. Overall, well done and good luck with your boxes!

Your superimposed lines look smooth and consistent. Some of your ghosted lines are a bit wobbly and some of them have a slight arc but they do follow the correct trajectory. For the table of ellipses, you didn't draw through some of your ellipses on the second page but you did draw through most of them. The angles of the ellipses looks fairly consistent within each section. Your ellipses in planes look smooth with minimal deformation and they are nicely snug in the planes. The spacing between ellipses in funnels looks good and they look fairly well aligned to the minor axis. I noticed some wobbly lines for your box exercises and I would recommend working on ghosting while aiming for a confident line. A confident line is much more useful than a wobbly one. Overall, well done and I think you are ready to move on to the 250 box challenge.

Your superimposed lines look smooth and consistent. Most of your ghosted lines look straight and follow the correct trajectory. For the table of ellipses, you did a good job fitting the ellipses snug with in each section and their angles are mostly consistent. Your ellipses fit nicely in the planes and have minimal deformation. The spacing between ellipses in funnels is good and they are fairly well aligned with the minor axis. It looks like there may be some line corrections on your organic perspective exercise. I recommend more ghosting and aiming for one confident stroke. Accuracy will improve over time with practice. Overall, well done and I think you are ready to move on to the 250 box challenge.

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
