Thank you for the help!
Thank you for the help!
Thank you once again for the help!
Thank you again for taking the time critiquing my work!
Thank you for taking the time to guide me. I will definitely take more time working on my organic forms and contour lines.
Thanks once again for taking your time. Here is my revisions: https://imgur.com/a/7NRjBK1. I would appreciate if you can help me with observing the thorax where the wings are connected because I find it difficult to find smaller forms on itThis is the reference image: https://www.flickr.com/photos/andreaskay/48757679353/in/photostream.
I'm sorry for the very late reply as I ran out of materials for drawabox. Here is my revision: https://imgur.com/a/GmjtDOd. Thank you for taking the time to critique my work.
I'm glad to be of help!
Some of your lines are wobbly and there are a lot of groups of lines that are fraying on both ends. Try to take your time setting up the pen before drawing and then do more ghosting. On the other hand, your ghosted lines looks better as they are mostly accurate and straighter than the previous exercise. Although, you could add more lines to fill out the page and add more practice. As for your ghosted planes, it's the same as I've said before that it has some wobbly lines but they are somewhat accurate. You should've took pictures of them before adding the ellipses but since the submission is clean enough for me to observe the planes, then it's fine.
It looked like you tried your best to make the ellipse touch the four sides of the plane but it sacrificed confidence. Remember that confidence is top priority over accuracy especially in lines. There are also some ellipses that are not tight which indicates you had trouble making your lines closer together. Your tables of ellipses are filled with as much ellipses as possible but suffers the same problems as the ellipse in planes. As for your funnels exercise, the ellipses are not aligned to the center line, aren't symmetrical and also doesn't take up all of the space as there are some ellipses that aren't touching each other.
The boxes also has some wobbly lines but looks better than the previous exercises. It looks like you tried to make each box submit to the vanishing point and did a good job at it. The organic perspective has fewer wobbly lines and you have a good variety of angles of the boxes. It's clear that you have made significant progress on your confidence throughout this lesson.
Overall, the mistakes you made is normal considering this is the first lesson and you will develop the habit of drawing better lines with more warm-ups.
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 box
Glad to be if help.
It looks like you valued the confidence in your lines over accuracy and it definitely produced good results. Although, there is some fraying on both ends and some lines are wobbly which is evident in your ghosted lines. The lines in the ghosted planes are looking confident and accurate and you filled out the page with as much as you can. I'm not sure due to the image quality but I think I see that you tried to hide your mistakes by drawing over them. Because you tried to draw over them, the line weight makes them stand out and that is why I noticed the mistakes. Try to leave them alone as fixing them would do the opposite effect.
Your ellipses are looking good. They are tight, almost every table is filled with as much ellipses as possible (refer to the bottom of the upper left table as there are some spaces left), and most of them are confident. There are some wobbly ones here and there but it is something that you will improve on overtime. Some of the ellipses in your funnels exercise are not symmetrical when split on the minor axis and the center line isn't aligned properly which made it difficult to know whether the ellipses are symmetrical or not.
Your boxes show that you put the time and effort to make the boxes follow the vanishing point and rotate them. Overall, I have no complaints on the boxes themselves except the mistakes you made on the line exercises. You tried to fix the mistaken line by drawing over it and wobbly lines. But this is no problem as you're in the early stages of the course and you will get the chance to work on it in the 250 box challenge.
Next Steps:
Move on to the 250 box challenge and work on your line quality in your warm-ups.
These are my favourite sketchbooks, hands down. Move aside Moleskine, you overpriced gimmick. These sketchbooks are made by entertainment industry professionals down in Los Angeles, with concept artists in mind. They have a wide variety of sketchbooks, such as toned sketchbooks that let you work both towards light and towards dark values, as well as books where every second sheet is a semitransparent vellum.
