Thats all 4 extra. I have included the reference images I used this time, hopefully thats helpful.

For the Toucan's beak I tried to use two separate shapes for the top and bottom, it makes sense to me but may look a bit confusing.

So I drew in the lightsource this time, both to help me and so that you can see if I am actually using them properly. I haven't actually done any art studies to do with lighting and values yet as I wanted to get construction down and have a good grasp of drawing simple forms before "complicating" things. This may explain why I don't seem to be using them well and if you think it would be beneficial for the course I will go and look at a few to gain a better basic grasp of the concepts?

So I was trying to understand your comment of "You also appeared to be redrawing a lot of the edges of your forms' silhouettes" because I wasn't redrawing them to my knowledge after the beetle, but it turns out when i'm making the final additional 3d forms I put on more pressure when drawing them because they are the "last thing" so they come out a lot bolder (especially the new forms added to the legs). I'm trying to cut back on this bad habit but its proving difficult.

Okay here are the last two of the three.

Sorry if I wasn't meant to add texture, the Crab was very... "bubbly" and it didn't look right without it.

I have re-linked the sausage and first picture here so you don't have to dark back between comments when looking at it all if you needed to check them again.

    https://imgur.com/Lrasx7m - Beetle

The shaded area of the beetle was actually all cast shadows as the references images showed the shell casting a dark shade on the entire body beneath it as the shell overhangs quite a bit. Is there a better way I could have portrayed that without "colouring in" the body with shadows?

Sorry its been a few days!

I won't provide self critiques in future I was not aware that it wasn't allowed and I understand why it was ignored. I have made another page of sausages and tried to keep their forms simple but I messed up one or two ends https://imgur.com/IElbiUO , as practice would it be helpful to draw some as two spheres and a tube to get a feel for that before attempting more sausages or will it just become better with active practice?

Here is a Rhinoceros Beetle https://imgur.com/Lrasx7m , I wanted to check that I had done both of these to a reasonable standard before doing the rest so I don't waste your time with lots of incorrect drawings. If not I will re-do whatever needs doing and then do the others. Or would you prefer if I did them ALL then have them looked at? If so then just let me know and I will do two more insects to the best of my ability and come back.

I have just read "when finished" so apologies I should have the two others finished tomorrow so ignore this until then!

"The purpose of the line extensions is to identify how our lines are behaving as they extend away from the viewer, into the distance, towards the vanishing point." If this is the case than was the first link from my previous comment correct? (Relinked here - https://imgur.com/KW4UCdX)

If this is correct and I have drawn the lines towards the vanishing points then I will just ignore whatever it was that made me think the lines should go somewhere else and just always draw towards the vanishing points.

If it is not correct then could you please draw on top of the boxes with the correct lines like SCYLLASTEW did (Or pass me back to SCYLLASTEW so that I don't take up more of your time). This way I can see what lines I did wrong and hopefully learn from it.

Sorry for all the fuss, I must have just misinterpreted something and ended up confused.

    Thanks again for the help.

I've had a look through the 250 box challenge page, the "How to draw a box 2" video on that page and your correction of my work... So the lines should ALWAYS be extended TOWARDS their respective vanishing points?

    https://imgur.com/KW4UCdX (Always towards convergence point)

With the leftside boxes (top left and bottom left) I have extended the lines towards the vanishing point but I think they should have been extended upwards? Even though it diverges, the central convergence line looks like it is above the halfway point of the box so the lines should converge up towards that?

https://imgur.com/BhIFvff (What I think they should be)

Honestly I thought I knew what I was doing whilst extending the lines for the 250 Box Challenge but since you made the corrections and questioned that I have been second guessing all of my line extensions and have ended up very confused...

Oh I see the problem. I was considering the edge of a face as facing the viewer but if its 3 point perspective then I need to pick the closest corner!

I will do another page tomorrow and hopefully that will be correct.

    Please ignore the previous comment!

Don't know if I needed to redo it or not so I did anyway (Link Below) - If you haven't read my previous reply then you can ignore it, or check both if you wish.

This should be 5 boxes with all the correct lines! (I hope... please god no more boxes)

    Thanks again!

Hopefully this should be right. https://imgur.com/NReja4c.

As I am writing this I have just realised that the blue lines on the middle left box are incorrect as that corner is closest and the blue lines should converge upwards towards its point in the top left.

Apart from that I think all of the other lines should be correct.

    Thanks again for the help!

How to Draw by Scott Robertson

When it comes to technical drawing, there's no one better than Scott Robertson. I regularly use this book as a reference when eyeballing my perspective just won't cut it anymore. Need to figure out exactly how to rotate an object in 3D space? How to project a shape in perspective? Look no further.
