Hello, I'll be critiquing your homework today.

Your lines look really good! Both confident and accurate, there is only a tiny bit of wobbling in the rough perspective exercise.

Your ellipses are also good. Confident and within bounds, in one of your funnels (the bottom left one) the minor axis doesn't cut the ellipses in half, but the rest are fine.

Boxes are good to go as well. You've drawn through all them, except for the organic perspective (where it was optional anyways), your hatching is confident and clean. One of your boxes (second row from the top, left side) seems to not be rotating, but don't worry you'll be working on that on the 250 boxes challenge. The only slight issue that I see is that you have forgotten to add line weight where lines overlap in the organic perspective exercise.

Overall I would say you did really well.

    Next Steps:

You can move on to the 250 boxes challenge

Hello, I'll be critiquing your homework today.

Your lines seem okay, you did have some arching and fraying on the superimposed lines, and some woobliness on the first couple of excersices, but by the last few your lines show a good amount of improvement. I would highly recommend doing ghosted lines and superimposed lines as a warm up to further impove your line quality.

Some of your ellipses lack confidence, with some wobbling and some lines getting sort of straight-ish. I would recommend adding some ellipses to your warm ups as well, ghosting as much as you feel you need to and prioritising cofidence over accuracy.

On the rough perspective excersice you seem to have forgotten to extend your lines towards the vanishing point to check your convergences, you should do that, as it will help you quite a bit with understanding what sort of perspective mistakes you are more prone to and how you can fix them. On the rotating boxes excersice you do have some perspective mistakes, but that is very much expected and you will be working on it on the 250 boxes challenge anyways, one thing worth pointing out though is that you haven't added lineweight which you definitely should as it makes your boxes easier to read in general. Also your organic perspective sheets are a little underpopulated with only a couple of overlaps, that also lack lineweight. I would recommend adding some more boxes to these and adding lineweight in any overlaps that eventually accur.

Lastly, this isn't technically a mistake per say, but you seem to have a bit of self-critquing on some of your pages which is very much discouraged by the lesson materials.

Overall you do have things to work on, but I think you are more or less ready to move on.

    Next Steps:

I would recommend having another look at some of the excersices as I have pointed out, but overall you are good to move on to the 250 boxes challenge.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to critique my homework.

I'll be including the excercise in my warmups as I move on to lesson 2. Thanks again.

I don't really see any mistakes to be honest. Your lines are nice and confident, no fraying on both ends, no wobble, no arching, only nitpick I can find is that your ghosted lines sheet looks like it has room for some more. Ellipses are confident and drawn through. Boxes are good too, only problem I can see is that your boxes seem inconsistent in size in the rotated boxes excersise, but that too is a nitpick.

    Next Steps:

You are good to go. You can move on to the 250 boxes challenge.

Your lines are quite good, no fraying on both ends, the only issues I see are some arching lines in the ghosted planes excersise, and a bit of wobbling in the rough perspective and the first page of the organic perspective, make sure you draw from the shoulder and aim for confidence over accuracy.

In the tables of ellipses excersise you haven't drawn through your ellipses, and they are a bit woobly but you seem to have figured it out as they look fine on the rest of the ellipses homework.

You boxes are good overall, however you have forgotten to add lineweight wherever boxes overlap in the organic perspective excersise.

    Next Steps:

If you want to I don't think it would be a bad idea to draw through you ellipses in the tables of ellipses excersise. I would also recommend you add the ghosted lines excersise in your warm-up routine to improve your line cofidence. Overall though I think you are good to go.

You can move on to the 250 boxes challenge.

Your lines look confident and accurrate, no wobbling, arching or fraying on both ends. One small thing, you haven't done any curves in the superimposed lines exercise.

Your ellipses are drawn confidently and drawn through. You have a tiny bit of overlapping here and there on the ellipse tables. On the funnels the minor axis seems a little bit off on the top right funnel.

Your boxes are drawn through where they need to. Overall I don't see any mistakes on the boxes section

I think you can move on to Lesson 2

This is another one of those things that aren't sold through Amazon, so I don't get a commission on it - but it's just too good to leave out. PureRef is a fantastic piece of software that is both Windows and Mac compatible. It's used for collecting reference and compiling them into a moodboard. You can move them around freely, have them automatically arranged, zoom in/out and even scale/flip/rotate images as you please. If needed, you can also add little text notes.

When starting on a project, I'll often open it up and start dragging reference images off the internet onto the board. When I'm done, I'll save out a '.pur' file, which embeds all the images. They can get pretty big, but are way more convenient than hauling around folders full of separate images.

Did I mention you can get it for free? The developer allows you to pay whatever amount you want for it. They recommend $5, but they'll allow you to take it for nothing. Really though, with software this versatile and polished, you really should throw them a few bucks if you pick it up. It's more than worth it.
