https://imgur.com/a/NS6S3K1 here are my retries, I realised when doing the form intersections I made the cylinder and Cone way to big ti begin with :-: and the organic the first 2 look messy because I forgot we were supposed to do contour lines instead of ellipses.
Oh im so sorry :-: and thanks for letting me know
I'll make a new reply just to be sure
Organic arrows: I didn't really understand where to add lineweight, i thought it was for the line/side closest to the viewer and now looking back I agree there isn't much perspective.
Organic forms: I did use my shoulder I just kept missing the end line xD and the ellipses im having some trouble with the perspectives.
Texture: I was a difficult task but I enjoyed it at the same time! The paper was very difficult made me want to give up and I also like the strawberry texture (it was one of my favourites)
Form intersections: I tried to add some lineweight but, as you said, I think I did It too much (this is another think I have a hard time with)
Organic intersections: I did notice (only when i finished) I added shadows to the parts that were supposed to be behind.
Thanks for your critique and honesty, I'll give them another go!
I guess not, I think I accidently cancelled instead of sending xD
Not sure if it posted my reply or not ????
Awesome!
So so pretty ????
These look so good! I can't wait to be able to draw characters too, just finished lesson two aha.
We're these using references or from imagination?
Hello,
firstly the arrows, I noticed most of then are a bit scratchy. Remeber to be confident and ghost your lines before hand. You've done a good job on the perspective (getting bigger as the are closer to the viewer).
The sahoe of the organic forms are well done and smooth and I can see with the ellipses you've tried to change the degrees. My only complaint is on the contour lines, you avent hooked them at the ends, this will help make it look more round/3D.
I think you've done a great job with the texture analysis! The texture dissections I think could use some work It seems like you've drawn outlines rather then cast shadows for most and havent gone in a gradient (dark to light) . I won't expect you to redo, since this may improve in the texture challange. However I will say I like the pineapple, raspberry, tomato and andpaper textures!
Form intersections I found these hard to do aswell so great job giving it a go! I think you shouldve overlapped some a bit more since I cant see some intersections that much, there was also supposed to be a page dedicated to ONLY boxes I reccomend doing this as I thought they helped understand intersections more. Overall, the lines look very neat and done confidently, the perspectives look to be continous aswell.
For your organic intersections I don't have alot to say as I think you've done well on those.
Next Steps:
Im going to mark it as complete, as I've said the textures can be tackled in the challenges or in your own time. For the arrows remeber to be confident with your lines. Keep it up you've got it! You may start lesson 3
Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.
Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.
These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.
We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.
Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
