Heyo my name is Phobic and i will be your Critique giver for today.

    Section 1: Lines

The super-imposed lines at a glance look pretty good. your lines appear to be confidently drawn with only a handful of examples of fraying on both ends but typically this is quite good. i also applaud you for doing the extra curved lines these are quite tough and something even im struggling with!

One part i noticed was your lines tended to arc when drawing longer lines resulting in fraying towards the end. this is normal and should go away with focused practice in the warm ups so nothing to worry about right now but over all great job on this exercise.

The ghosted lines have the same pro's and cons as your super imposed lines. the lines look confidently drawn and look to have been ghosted properly with the only real issue being arcing which i recomend looking at the lesson information about how to counter this and with accuracy which should improve overtime. Overall good work on this task.

    Section 2: Elipses

For the sake of my sanity i am just going to conflate both the ghosted planes and elipses within planes as 1 single task as i feel it would be a monumental waste of both my time and yours to talk about half the task in two sections each.

With that being said this the actual planes themselves share the same issue as the prior section where your lines are often arcing which i would again recomend checking out the lesson content for (to save myself repeating this should it arise again i will put a (1) beside it to let you know it's an arcing line related critique). Additionally i noticed a little bit of wobbling in the lines of your planes likely caused by trying to ensure the points of the plane were lined up. this should be avoided as the purpose of this exercise is to prioritise confidence over accuracy.

As for the elipses i feel you have made a good attempt drawing these as they look confidently drawn although a few of your elipses don't make full contact with or slightly overlap the sides of the plane which is something you should practice in the warm ups. additionally a handful of your elipses have been drawn a bit to small and don't fully extend out to reach any of the sides of the box which is a mistake covered in the elipses in planes lesson material which i reccomend you look at when attempting this exercise in future.

One final point i would like to add which i will use a (2) to refer to should it arise again so you can consult it here is you have drawn through your elipses an inconsistent number of times. in most of your elipses you have drawn through them 2 times although in a handful of them you have made 3 passes. it is recomended that you aim for only 2 passes when drawing the elipse as it will help you with keeping your elipses looking neat but also help you fight the urge to course correct whilst drawing them. again the purpose of the exercise is confidence over accuracy.

    Table of elipses: see (2)

First of all i would like to praise you for the variety of patterns you have attempted to draw as it shows a clear engagement with the task and is just generally quite nice to look at. as for areas to improve upon many of your elipses do not touch the top, bottom and sides of the pages and are just floating in space. i would recomend revisiting the exercise material when revisiting this task for a warm up as this is one of the mistakes mentioned within the lesson material. additionally many of the elipses are either spaced a bit too far appart or are slightly overlapping one another instead of just touching on the edges. this is more of an accuracy issue however which can be corrected with focused practice during the warm ups. overall nice work just take these mistakes into consideration and you should be golden.

    Funnels: see (2)

The funnels look confidently drawn which shows a clear improvement as you have went along these exercises. some of the prior critique still applies with only minor spacing issues but generally looks fine. my only major critique is that some of your elipses are not quite aligned on the minor axis which should result in two sides being split in half which you can learn more about in the lesson material.

    Section 3: Boxes

    Plotted Perspective:

the page for plotted perspective has not been included so i cannot critique this

Rough perspective: see (1) although admitedly it's quite minor here

at an initial glance the lines appear to have been properly ghosted however i noticed an issue with wobbling lines on some of your boxes. however i am going to chalk this up to a lack of familiarity with ghosting small distances between points which is admittedly quite uncomfortable at first so i will let this slide with the recomendation for more practice. additionally i have noticed that some of your boxes have lines which have been drawn through multiple times when a mistake has been made. although this is hard not to do you should focus on the confidence of your lines more than accuracy and avoid drawing through your lines in an attempt to correct mistakes. to avoid repition i will mark this mistake with a (3) should it crop up again. finally i would also like to note that some of your lines do not quite ghost back to the vanishing point and in future attempts more care should be given to this in the warm ups when building accuracy but for now it is fine.

One final note is that some of your boxes are not fully parralel on boxes horizontal lines and perpindicular on the boxes vertical lines. as the boxes are drawin in 1 point perspective for this task it is important to aim for this in future warm ups and it is something i would recomend practicing in the warm ups. outside of this not too much comes to mind/

    Rotated Boxes:

The page for Rotated Boxes has not been included so i cannot critique this

Organic Perspective s: see (3) for one of the boxes

Not too much to say about this one the boxes look confidently drawn although slightly distorted in areas likely caused by errors made in plotting the boxes which i recommend you revisit the lesson material for. The main errors here are a lack of major size variance in the boxes from near to far and slight distortion with your Y's you have plotted. overall though a good first attempt i would recomend you revisit the lesson material for this task along side the extra notes when the time comes to start the 250 boxes and in your warm up exercises.

    Conclusions:

Overall this is a good submission which i cannot yet mark as complete as i am missing two of the required exercises for me to mark. additionally i would like to request an addional panel of both organic perspective and rough perspective with the critique offered and lesson information kept in mind (both of these can be done on the same page as i only want a panel of each task not a full page revisit)

I wish you good luck as you are almost finished with lesson 1!

    Next Steps:

Provide the missing pages for marking and to complete the recommended revisions.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

You have seen most of these by now but here is the additional 20 boxes you requested!

this was pretty tough but i will try and integrate this into my warm ups to get better with perspective!

Heya Mico my name is phobic and i will be your critique man thingy for today.

So before i get started i will explain how i will go through this critique. i will break down the lesson into 3 sections LINE, ELIPSES, AND BOXES, where i will go over the good, the not so good and my opinion on what your next steps should be. so without further adieu lets get into things.

    LINES:

Ghosted Lines: So for some of the lines it is a bit tricky to see them due to small parts on the second page being cropped out however that aside there are some areas you did pretty well namely you attempted a wide variety of lines and lengths which is pretty good practice and you also attempted the optional curved lines which can be quite tricky to start off with so good attempt. from what i could see the lines appeared to be drawn confidently however there appeared to be a little bit of wobblng which is something i advise you be careful of however so far things appear to look good.

Ghosted Lines: So for the ghosted lines they appear to look pretty good as the lines appear to be pretty accurate and it seems like you have made an attempt to ghost the lines. some areas i would advise you to watch out for is in some lines the lines start to arc a little which causes them to curve. (check out lesson 1 for more information on this) and also there appears to be a little bit of wobbling on some of the longer lines which is something i recommend practicing to mitigate in your warm ups. however other than that all seems good.

Ghosted Planes: for this exercise you appear to have re-used the planes for the ghosted elipses in planes exercise. this is fine i will just look at the planes now and will mention the elipses part later on. So for the planes themselves they appear to look pretty good with the same praise and critique of the ghosted lines exercise applying here. some additional critique i will offer however is in some of your lines you re-drew the lines when you missed the point in a couple of instances. it is heavily advised you fight the urge to do this as the goal is to draw lines confidently and not accurately with accuracy coming later on over time.

    ELPSES:

Table of Elipses: so at a first glance "WOW that's alot of elipses" so looking more closely at your submission you appear to have used a variety of elipses with each appearing to have been drawn through twice which is pretty good. one bit of criticism i will offer is in some elipses they tend to overlap one another or go over the boundry's of the lines a little bit which is fine for now and i highly recommend practicing this a bit more in your warm ups moving forward.

Ghosted Elipses in Planes: So for the elipses here similar praise and criticism offered for the Table of Elipses exercise applies. One additional note i would like to add in addition to the previous points however is when drawing the elipses in planes it can be easier to rotate your page and find a different angle of approach for drawing your elipses in order to ensure the elipses neatly sit within the center of the plane with the elipse neatly touching all 4 sides of the plane.

Funnels: For this exercise you have done a really good job in mitigating the overlap between your elipses which was present in the table of elipses exercise and i advise you to continue with this. along side the funnels you also attempted the additional corner funnels which look pretty good and the elipses seem to line up neatly on the minor axis. one area of improvement i would suggest is for the main funnels some of your elipses were a little bit off on the minor axis so you may wish to practice this in future however other than that good work.

    BOXES:

Plotted Perspective: The boxes appear to line up to both vanishing points with only a little bit of distortion but other than that looks fine i have no complaints here.

Rough Perspective: so first of all for the boxes you have done a pretty good job keeping your boxes to 1point perspective and you have drawn through all your boxes. however there are some areas of improvement namely some similar criticism from the lines section that being wobbly lines and re-drawing lines which are things to avoid. This is an area i highly recommend practicing which you will be able to in warm ups and in the 250 boxes.

Rotated Boxes: first of all these look pretty neat with only a couple of instances of re-drawing over lines but other than that pretty good. some extra areas to work on is the gaps between the boxes as they are a little bit inconsistent and some of your boxes are a bit inconsistent size wise. however this challenge is intended to be quite tricky (i would know your submission is way better than mine haha) but yeah good job lets move onto the last part of the BOXES section.

Organic Perspective: from what i could see this is a good start on your journey into boxes as the boxes are drawn neatly with line weight applied. only criticisms i will offer here is that your re-drew some of your lines here still and that the boxes you drew did not really change too much in terms of rotation in some of your boxes. however other than this i see no issues so let's move onto the closing statement:

Closing Statement: Overall this is a very strong submission with some notable issues namely Re-drawing lines and accuracy. both things that can be solved over time with practice. with that in mind i have no issues marking this lesson as complete. next up 250 boxes Good Luck.

    Next Steps:

    250 Boxes

Hey KIZUTSU thanks very much for your patience in waiting for the critique.

My name is Phobic and i will be doing your Critique today. for this critique i will seperate the criticism into three sections LINE, ELIPSES AND BOXES where i will discuss the good, not so good and next steps.

    LINE SECTION:

    Super Imposed Lines:

For the super imposed lines you seem to have done a pretty decent job. there is no evident fraying on both sides and the lines appear to be confidently drawn. my only critique here is there is a small amount of wobbling in some of your longer lines and curved lines but i'm sure this can be ironed out over time in warm ups.

    Ghosted Lines:

The lines here have been drawn very confidently and smoothly. however there are some areas you can work on whilst doing this exercise again in your warm ups in future specifically working to improve your line accuracy and also fixing a small amount of arching in your lines as your lines appear to curve very slightly on a couple of your lines.

    Ghosted Planes:

For the ghosted planes exercise as you have presumably used the same planes for the elipses in planes exercise i will only look at the planes here and vice versa in the elipses section. for the planes themselves you have drawn the lines very confidently and smoothly with the planes lining up very neatly close to one another in a visually appealing manner. outside of a small amount of arching in a couple of your lines there is not too much i can see wrong with these. for next steps with this exercise i highly recommend working to improve your accuracy with drawing through the cross in the center of the plane as in some planes it does not quite go through the center. however again this is a pretty strong submission.

    ELIPSES SECTION:

    Table of Elipses:

The elipses look pretty confidently drawn. it is clear looking at these that you have ghosted and drawn through your elipses at least twice. a couple of areas i would suggest being careful with is the spacing between your elipses and and the size of them as a couple of your elipses overlap or do not quite touch both the top and bottom lines of their section. that aside these are very well and confidently drawn so good work.

    Ghosted Elipses in Planes:

For your elipses you have done a good job confidently and neatly drawing them within the planes and having them line up on all 4 sides. one area for improvement which i will suggest is to be a bit more careful not to distort your elipses as a couple of them start to deform slightly with a couple turning into a water droplet like shape or become a bit more wobbly when you have been trying to line up the elipse to all 4 sides. this should be something you can solve through focused practice in warm ups later so no worry's for now.

    Funnels:

For the funnels exercise you have done a great job keeping the elipses aligned on the minor axis, this can be a little bit tricky so well done. for my points of critique it is pretty much the same as the table of elipses section where you should be observant as to the spacing of your elipses as a couple of them tend to overlap as opposed to only touching the sides.

BOXES SECTION: (THE FINAL BOSS OF LESSON 1)

    Plotted Perspective:

Not too much to say about this section. the boxes look good and the perspective appears to have been drawn correctly no real issues here.

    Rough Perspective:

There are a couple of nit picks i have with this section but generally the lines appear to have been ghosted properly and confidently and you have done a good job plotting your points back to the VP. however i noticed that some of your lines were a little bit wobbly which you may want to be a bit cautious about but this can be ironed out in warm ups. one thing i did notice however is you drew over a couple of your lines where you may have drawn a line slightly curved or at an angle a noticeable example is the top left box on the first pannel of the second page. its generaly not advised to do this but instead to show the mistake and learn from it moving forward in the task. but outside of me nitpicking you did a good job well done.

    Rotated Boxes:

To preface this is probably in my opinion the hardest task of lesson 1. you have done a pretty decent job rotating the boxes although it feels like they could have potentially been rotated a little bit more at the ends check out this resource for more info:

    https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/368870697742630912/715669112222908466/zfr3o7xneog31.png

outside of that the only major critiques i can offer for this task is your line spacing between boxes is a little bit inconsistent resulting in some of your boxes appearing slightly off angle and also some of your lines are a little bit squint specifically the rear faces of the boxes. outside of this however this was a very strong submission well done.

Organic Perspective (WOO! only one task left)

I don't have too much to say on this task as its pretty good. the lines are pretty smooth and confidently drawn with minimal wobbling which is normally what i look for in these critiques. for future attempts i noticed in your first page there wasnt a wide range of shape and rotation for your boxes. this is not a significant issue as you will do this more in the 250 box challenge but if you ever do it again it is something to consider. anyways yeah i dont have too much to say here lets head to the closing statement.

    CLOSING STATEMENT:

Looking at this submission it is very clear to me that this is a high quality submission with lots of time and effort put in. outside of the previous points i raised in each section i have no significant issues with any section here so i will not ask for any re-dos and i will mark this as complete congratulations. for next steps i recomend continuing to do the lesson 1 exercises as warm ups and to begin work on the 250 box challenge.

    Next Steps:

Continue lesson 1 exercises as warm ups

Hi HADES/Ncyy (whichever you choose to go by)

My name is Phobic and i will be your critiquer person thingy for today. for my critique i will break your submission down into 3 sections: LINES, ELIPSES AND BOXES and discuss the good, not so good and next steps.

    LINES SECTION:

    Super Imposed lines:

For your super imposed lines you appear to have drawn your lines quite confidently with minimal fraying on both ends which is pretty good. i will point out that some of your lines appear to wobble a little bit which is something to keep an eye on but can be ironed out with practice.

    Ghosted Lines:

For your ghosted lines you also appear to have drawn the lines quite confidently. It is evident looking at the submission that your accuracy is not quite 100% with the plotted points (which is fine neither is mine i miss fairly often haha) but if you keep at it and practice ghosting lines in warm ups this should improve!. a final couple of notes on this exercise is some of your lines appear to curve just a little bit. This could be because of arching lines or it could just be you are trying to slow the pen down mid stroke to not over shoot the plotted points. if it is the former i recommend checking out the ghosted planes lesson for more details whilst if it is the latter i recommend that you try lifting your pen before the point or adjusting your speed when ghosting your lines before the stroke. it should also be noted that overshooting is fine in this stage as the criteria is looking for confidence over accuracy.

    Ghosted Planes:

As you appear to have used the same planes for the elipses within planes exercise i will discuss only the planes in this section and only the elipses in the ELIPSES section. as for what you did right the lines appear to have been ghosted properly and confidently and the planes have been drawn in a good variety of different positions and sizes. some carry over points of criticsim i feel i should mention is there is a small amount of wobbling in your lines but this can be ironed out with practice and a couple of your lines appear to curve a little bit. not a massive issue right now but its advised you practice this over time.

    ELIPSES SECTION:

    Table of Elipses:

So starting off with what went well. The elipses show clear signs of having been ghosted and drawn around twice with confidence which is great. as for some things to work on as next steps there are a couple of accuracy issues namely some of your elipses overlap on the inside or dont quite touch both sides of the borders in their segments. however this is something which can be practiced in warm ups and improved over time.

    Ghosted Elipses in Planes:

So for your elipses in the planes you have done a decent job drawing the elipses within the planes with minimal to no distortion. some critique is that some of your elipses are floating in the center of the planes as opposed to touching all 4 sides. My advice here is to practice drawing elipses carefully in the planes making sure to rotate your page to find the easiest angle of approach. other than that the only thing i can add is to practice your accuracy during warm ups and it should improve over time.

    Funnels:

For the funnels exercise you have done a good job keeping your elipses within the funnels whilst confidently executing them. that being said there are a couple of areas of critique i would like to point out. the first is the spacing between each of your elipses. when drawing elipses packed closely together in both the table of elipses and funnels exercise the elipses sides should be touching but not overlapping. however in some of your elipses there is a small gap or some overlap. however this is something that can be improved with practice. an additional area of critique i should point out some of your elipses are not entirely lined up on the minor axis. this is something which can be improved with conscious practice and a bit of more careful planning. (for some more tips check out the funnels lesson)

BOXES SECTION (THE FINAL BOSS OF LESSON 1)

    Plotted Perspective:

there does not appear to be any issues here the boxes line up neatly to the vanishing point with what appears to be no distortion.

    Rough Perspective:

For the rough perspective the boxes appear to have been plotted correctly with minimal guesswork beyond how the points extend to the vanishing point. as for critique. The lines for the boxes are quite wobbly which indicates to me you may have went a little bit quickly when drawing the boxes or you may have had some difficulty drawing both planes and connecting them together. I would highly recommend re-attempting this task in some warm ups so as to get a little bit more used to ghosting lines for boxes however i wont ask for a re-submission as you will get plenty of practice with the 250 boxes.

    Rotated Boxes:

First off i will begin by saying well done this is not an easy task (even i cant do it quite yet haha) that being said you made a pretty good effort however along side the issues raised in the rough perspective section i have a couple of critiques for this section for when you re-attempt this in future. first of all for the boxes at the ends of the sphere of boxes they do not appear to fully rotate at the ends. i would highly recomend giving this resource a look here which covers some pointers for getting the boxes to rotate correctly: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/368870697742630912/715669112222908466/zfr3o7xneog31.png

Outside of that another issue present in the boxes is the spacing between the boxes is not consistent. this is detrimental as it causes the need for more guess work which causes the boxes to become un-alligned. for this i highly recommend re-reviewing the lesson page and the attached resource. however this is not something to feel too bad about as it is almost expected for us to fail on a first pass but i highly encourage you to try the task again as a warm up in future.

Organic Perspective ( WOO! Only one task left)

Outside of a few remarks about lines which i have mentioned a couple of times, the boxes look good and rotate pretty well. i wont say too much here about perspective as 250 boxes will drill that into you.

    Closing Remarks:

I feel this is a pretty good lesson 1 submission with some issues such as wobbly lines or accuracy. Under normal circumstances i would ask you to fill out a page of either ghosted planes or rough perspective to give you an opportunity to give your line work a second pass before 250 boxes however i feel i can pass this on the proviso that you make sure to revisit these tasks in your warm ups as regularly as possible.

Hi ACHERONSIS my name is Phobic and i will be your critiquer today. this is my second critique with my first not having quite been evaluated yet so please bare with me if i make any mistakes haha. to start off i will break this critique into 3 sections LINES, ELIPSES and BOXES where i will go into the good, the not so good, and next steps. without further adieu lets get into things.

    LINE SECTION:

    Super Imposed lines:

from what i can see the lines look very confident with minimal wobbling, i also appreciate the extra attempts at more curved lines these generally look quite good with no serious issues from what i can see.

    Ghosted Lines:

Looking at your ghosted lines they have been drawn quite confidently which is super good. i will note that the accuracy is a little off and there is a small amount of wobbling in your lines but this is something that can be worked out in warm up exercises.

    Ghosted Planes:

As you did not attatch an image of this in your submission i am going to look at your ghosted elipses in planes page as i am assuming you re-used the same planes for this exercise. i am noticing your lines stop short of your plotted points and there is a bit of wobbling. i would advise usage of more confident stokes to minimize wobbling as it is better to overshoot slightly than to undershoot as shown here. but regardless the planes look good and we will come back to this in the elipses section.

    ELIPSES SECTION:

    Table of Elipses:

Looking at this exercise it is clear to me that you have made an effort to ghost and draw through your elipses twice. it is also clear that you have taken effort to ensure your elipses are touching when attempting to connect them and that they are more or less aligned on the minor axis. as for critique i think there are some issues with aligning your elipses so that they are touching the top and bottom of the rows but that is something that can be worked on in warm ups moving forward.

    Ghosted Elipses in Planes:

As we have already discussed the planes i wont re-tread old ground. similarly to the table of elipses the elipses look quite good and they are confidently drawn. my only advice is to work on accuracy when drawing them in planes to ensure they are the correct size and to also make sure you are rotating your page whilst doing so but generally quite decent.

    Funnels:

For the funnels you have drawn the elipses quite neatly although a couple of them still poke out of the funnels but this is quite ok as this can be ironed out with practice. my main critique for this exercise is your elipses in some of the funnels are not lined up evenly on the minor axis and this is something you will want to watch out for as some elipses are not quite in the center of the funnels. that being said this a fairly decent first attempt well done.

BOXES SECTION (THE FINAL BOSS OF LESSON 1)

    Plotted perspective:

The boxes appear to line up well with the Vanishing point and look quite neat so no issues here.

    Rough Perspective:

So for the boxes they line up fairly neatly to the vanishing point with a little bit of diverging lines but this can be cleaned up in the 250 box challenge. however the lines appear to be quite wobbly which indicates you may have had a bit of difficulty or went quite fast when doing these boxes.

    Rotated Boxes:

An admirable first attempt for quite a tricky challenge. as previosly stated your boxes are quite wobbly which is a bit of a concern and the size and gap between each box is quite inconsistent. that being said the rotation on your box is a pretty good start. it could potentially rotate to the sides a bit further but over good job. (here is a bonus resource to look at for when re-attempting the task should you choose to https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/368870697742630912/715669112222908466/zfr3o7xneog31.png)

Organic Perspective (WOO! The last Task)

To avoid repeating myself too much the lines on the boxes are a little bit wobly but other than that the boxes look good as the perspective clearly shows them going from smaller to larger. i would comment on your construction of the boxes as some of them are a bit distorted but this can be ironed out in 250 boxes. i would also say that you should be a bit careful with some of your boxes as a couple of them were floating outside of the line but thats not very important. anyhow onto closing thoughts.

    Closing thoughts.

For a first attempt at lesson 1 this is quite good there were some issues with your lines and boxes and a bit of general accuracy but this can be ironed out in warm ups. however before i mark this as complete i noticed that some of your boxes and lines were quite wobbly so to that end to make sure you are 100% super confident with drawing boxes and lines i would like to request 1 page of either ghosted planes or two panels of rough perspective (or 2/3 of a page)

Only a little bit more to go you can do it!

    Next Steps:

1 page of either ghosted planes or two panels of rough perspective (or 2/3 of a page)

Hi FURIOUSPAN my name is Phobic and i will be giving critique today.

For the structure of this critique i will divide it into three sections LINES, ELIPSES AND BOXES with each going into what i think you did well, what i think may need a bit of work and next steps. this is my first critique so appologies if i slip up anywhere. with that in mind lets get into this.

    LINES SECTION:

    Super Imposed Lines:

So for the super imposed lines i think you did a pretty good job for a first go around as there is very minimal fraying at the start of each row which can be pretty tough to achieve so well done. with that said there is quite a bit of wobbling in the lines which you may want to watch out for when attempting this exercise in future although im presuming this is because of a lack of ghosting which is formally introduced in the next exercise.

    Ghosted Lines:

From what i can see you have done well with the ghosted lines exercise as the lines appear to have been drawn very confidently using the ghosting method. with that said i noticed on a couple of lines they appeared to curve perhaps as a slip of the hand and i also noticed that some of the lines curving slightly but this is normal when starting and is just a little something to keep in mind for future. (See ghosted lines lesson page for more details on this under the arching lines section)

    Ghosted Planes:

For the ghosted planes exercise you have done well to create a wide variety of different planes in different angles and orientations as this can be quite tricky at times (or maybe just for me haha). However i noticed some issues with these ghosted planes namley there is alot of wobbling in your lines which suggests to me the planes may have been rushed, may have had difficulty ghosting your lines, or may have drawn your lines too slowly. i would advise you to re-attempt this exercise in future warm ups taking care to rotate the page and try different speeds when ghosing your lines. as an additional note i noticed on a couple of your planes you had drawn through a line several times however it is advisable not to draw over your lines and continue onwards with the exercise.

    ELIPSES SECTION:

    Table of elipses:

I feel that looking at your elipses you have made a good start. its very clear to me looking at these elipses that they have been ghosted and drawn through twice confidently. however for many elipses in the table the elipses are quite spread appart and are not connected at the sides and also do not line up on the minor axis. that being said though this is still a good start and this can be cleaned up over time by doing a small portion of this task in your warm up exercises.

    Ghosted Planes:

For this exercise i would first of all like to praise you for re-drawing the planes before drawing in your elipses as this can be quite time consuming. as for general critique i feel the same points from the ghosted planes exercise applies here as the planes are still quite wobbly. as for the elipses i feel these are quite good as these clearly showcase confidence and drawing through your lines.

    Elipses in funnels:

I feel these are quite good for the previously stated reasons. you have done a great job packing the elipses close together and keeping them alligned on a minor axis. my only critique here is there are some small gaps between your elipses in some of the funnels which can be rectified with some practice so no worries there.

BOXES SECTION (THE FINAL BOSS OF LESSON 1)

    Plotted Perspective:

The boxes look very neat with them all going back to the Vanishing point with minimal distortion. no issues here.

    Rough Perspective:

I feel very similarly to the ghosted planes exercise the lines are incredibly wobbly. there is also a bit of divergence in some of your boxes with the lines moving further away from one another but this will most likely be worked out in the 250 box challenge so no worries here.

    Rotated Boxes:

For the rotated boxes for a first attempt you have done very well. the boxes appear to rotate correctly and the outer faces look quite good. there appears to be some wobbling on some of your inside faces on the box but this can be worked on. one thing i will point out however is you appear to have not finished this exercise as there seems to still be some empty spots on the top and bottom which suggests you may have forgotten to finish the task. that being said however it looks good.

Organic Perspective (The last one WOO!)

I dont have too much to say about this one other than well done haha. the boxes look pretty good as they rotate pretty well and the perspective looks decent so well done. my only concern however is line wobbling but we will get into this in my closing statement.

    Closing Statement:

Overall i feel you have done quite well with lesson 1 especially with the tricky bits like boxes and elipses (i really struggled during these) however with that being said i noticed quite consistently throughout the submission that your lines were quite wobbly. before i can approve this lesson for a pass i would like to request a re-do of one page of ghosted planes. i would ask for more but the 250 box challenge will probably help your boxes alot and my main concern is your lines as everything else seemed solid.

I would like to say again though you have done quite well and you are nearly there with lesson 1 don't give up!

    Next Steps:

1 page of ghosted elipses to help clean up wobbly lines.

Hi thanks very much for the feedback. it will probably take a while of me failing at the same thing repeatedly but i will endevour to try and use this critique to improve. as for the assigned redo i have completed a quadrent of the roated boxes exercise. i made a fair few mistakes (some i annotated on the page) and the shape came out as more of a cylinder than a sphere which is because of some poor point placement on my end (sorry about that) none the less i will attach the imigur link bellow

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

The Science of Deciding What You Should Draw

Right from when students hit the 50% rule early on in Lesson 0, they ask the same question - "What am I supposed to draw?"

It's not magic. We're made to think that when someone just whips off interesting things to draw, that they're gifted in a way that we are not. The problem isn't that we don't have ideas - it's that the ideas we have are so vague, they feel like nothing at all. In this course, we're going to look at how we can explore, pursue, and develop those fuzzy notions into something more concrete.
