Hi there, there is a lot of improvement on your funnels. You did good continuing before receiving feedback, as we are not sure we'll receive it.
Hi there, there is a lot of improvement on your funnels. You did good continuing before receiving feedback, as we are not sure we'll receive it.
Hello, thank you very much for your time! I'll keep in mind what you've said. Have a nice day =D
Hello, I'll review your homework. First of all, I notice that you've scanned your homework, scanning your homework will reduce the quality of your line work. It's better to take photos. I think you can also scan it if you scan it as a photo.
Your superimposed lines look good. So do your ghosted lines and ghosted planes.
Be careful of your ellipses overlapping for the table of ellipse. Some of your ellipses aren't snug, the ellipses must touch each others.
Your ellipses in planes aren't touching all four sides of the planes, but they are smooth which is great.
You've understood the funnel exercise, though there is one where the ellipses aren't aligning on the minor axis : https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/58039837.jpg
Your plotted perspective looks good.
Your rough perspective looks good, though I think you used a ruler for the base planes when you should have applied the ghosting method.
For your rotated boxes, you could add some hatching to make the boxes clearer.
Your organic perspective looks good.
Next Steps:
You can continue on the 250 box challenge.
Keep the good work and enjoy your art journey.
Hello, I'll critique your work.
There is a bit of fraying on both side of your lines, for the superimposed lines.
Your ghosted lines are good. So are your ghosted planes.
For your table of ellipses, try to keep your ellipses snug (they must touch each other). You should draw through your ellipses 2 to 3 times, or it'll look messy (mostly the second page).
the same goes for your ellipses in plane. Some of your ellipses don't touch all 4 sides, so be mindful of that.
For your funnels, I feel like you didn't really understand the exercise. The ellipses must touch the curves and must be aligned with the minor axis:
https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/58039837.jpg. Your ellipses are all the same width when it should vary. (the width diminishes when close to the minor axis)
Your Plotted Perspective is good, though the hatching should only be on a single side: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/35e1012d.jpg.
Your rough perspective is good, but be careful with wobbly lines :
https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/5bcda336.jpg
Your rotated boxes is great!
Your organic perspective is good too, but be careful of the size of your boxes.
That's it. Good job. Keep the good work and enjoy your art journey.
Next Steps:
Before moving onto the 250 box challenge, please do:
a page of funnel
When your done with this, please reply to this message with what you've done :)
Hello, I'll review your homework.
Some of your superimposed lines have fraying at both end : https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/1585f266.jpg. Take your time to place the tip of your pen at the starting point.
Your ghosted lines are good.
Your ghosted planes are good.
For your table of ellipse, there are two section with two ellipses that takes the whole section. Avoid doing this as you don't get much from doing this. The ellipses must are to touch each other (as in they must be squeezed into the section)
The ellipses in planes are floating. They should touch all the edges of the plane : https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/267cf168.jpg. They are smooth, which is great.
For your funnel, some of your ellipses aren't smooth and they are snug. The goal of the exercise was to vary the angle at which you see the ellipses, and for some your funnels, the ellipses ahve the same degree.
The Plotted Perspective exercise is great! The Rough Perspective and the rotated boxes are good too.
For the Organic perspective, some boxes doesn't feel like they are rotating, though, it's not really an issue.
That is, good job. Have fun on your art journey
Next Steps:
You can continue onto the 250 box challenge. I recommand you do the funnel exercise once in while for practice.
Hello, I'll review your homework.
The superimposed lines are good.
The Ghosted lines are a bit wobbly at the end. Try to prioritize confidence over smoothness, it's okay to miss the end, you'll get better in time.
Same thing for your ghosted planes.
The ellipses table are good. Some ellipses do overlap; but the overall is good: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/7a41396e.jpg
Some of your ellipses in your ellipses in planes are floating (not touching all the sides) : https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/267cf168.jpg. Some even go out of bounds. The ellipses touch the plane at the middle of each of the sides
For Funnels, some of your ellipses go out of bounds and some don't touch the curve: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/3c94afec.jpg
Also, the guidelines are a bit wobbly, did you use a guideline or did you freehand it? You understood the exercise which is great
Your plotted perspective is good. Though, there is one that is very close to one of the vanishing point (the far right one of the second section). This causes a lot of deformation on the box : https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/15/distortion
On rough perspective, you understood the exercise, but the lines must be drawn with the ghosting method. When using one point perspective, the width lines are parallels to the horizon lines and the height lines are perpendicular to the horizon line.
For the rotated boxes, the guidelines was to be drawn with a ruler (the squares at the end of each axis). You did good on the exercise, though the squares are a bit too squished together.
The organic perspective is good. Though, sometimes, the size of the boxes is inconsistent.
And that's it, good work! Keep in mind the points I've mentioned, and have fun on your art journey !
Next Steps:
You can start the 250 box challenges. I'd recommend you to do one more page of rough perspective (though you are not obligated to do it)
Hello I'll review your homework.
For the Superimposed lines, I noticed that there is some wobbling in your lines. Though it's not considered as a mistake, it's worth mentioning it. It's mentioned in this section: https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/9/wobbling
You did well on the ghosted lines exercice, the wobbling reduced considerably.
There is also lots of wobbling in your ghosted planes, you should priorities confidence over accuracy. The wobbling appear when you are nearing the ending dot.
For ellipses in plane, there is a bit of wobbling. When drawing ellipses, you should draw through your ellipses two to three times (preferably twice) : https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/drawingthrough Some of your ellipses are drawn through four or so times.
On the ellipses table, the are wobbly lines, I think you are not always using your shoulder. Some ellipses are drawn through only once, some of your ellipses overlap and/or go out of bounds. The angle of your ellipses should be consistent : https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/12/drawingthrough
For the funnel exercice, the degree of your ellipses is sometimes the same, when they should be thinner at the minor axis (the middle line) and wider at the edges. Your ellipses are not aligning on the minor axis : https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/14/notaligned
For the plotted perspective exercice, when hatching keep it on a single side. Otherwise it is good.
For the Rough Perspective exercice, the lines are plotted (extended) to the vanishing point, you should extend your lines until they touch the horizon line : https://drawabox.com/lesson/1/16/plottinglines. Otherwise, you understood how the exercice should be done.
Your rotated box exercice is missing the bottom right. Otherwise, it is good. Though, it would help to add some hatching/line weight.
On the organic perspective, you did good. Though there is one elongated box thrown in there that break the flow of the boxes. Also, there are some inconsistency on the size of your boxes (especially when they are further away).
There are some doodling/ scribbling on the white of your page, I believe it's mentioned in lesson 0. When you feel the urge to doodle, take a sketch book and draw there.
Next Steps:
Before attacking the 250 box challenge, I recommand you to do:
1 page of ghosted planes
1 page of table of ellipse
1 page of funnel
And of course finish your rough perspective exercice
Hello Purpel, thank you for your time and reply ! Have a very nice day !
Hello Purpel, Thank you for your reply! I followed your advice, but it still doesn't feel quite right. Here the link of the boxes I did after you review.
Thank you for your time :D. Have a great day !
Drawabox isn't the be-all, end-all of drawing fundamental education. Our approach prioritizes certain concepts over others, and while we believe it do so for good reasons, ultimately it doesn't appeal to everyone. If Drawabox simply doesn't work for you, give Proko's Drawing Basics course a try - at the very least, you'll probably find it to be a hell of a lot more fun.
