    Thank you so much for this critique!! I was just thinking that this specific lesson was extremely humbling and probably one of the hardest I've done so far, all the things you mentioned are extremely helpful and insightful on how you can get more out of the exercises, 'preciate all the work you do. Have a wonderful day/night ahead!

    Thank you so much for the detailed critique! All the demos and examples you've referenced are extremely helpful and I'll definitely keep them in mind and work on the things you've mentioned, keep up the fantastic work! Much love

    Thank you so much for your detailed critique! I really appreciate the time and effort everyone in the drawabox team puts towards these critiques. I'll take everything into consideration and move onto the 250 Box Challenge.

    One small question though, what kind of practices should I include in my warm-ups? Should I include one page of every topic, (lines, ellipses, boxes) or one page out of every lesson? I'm not sure how to go on about my warm-ups and when exactly I should do them.

    No worries in terms of the late reply! After all, your personal life should always come in first place, and everything else goes after.

    Hello there! First of all, I want to thank you with all my soul for taking some of your precious time and critique this homework, I know critiquing can be a long process and I deeply appreciate you taking a look at everything! Everything you've mentioned I'll be taking into consideration and have it in the back of my mind, as all of it has been extremely helpful and made it easier to reflect on what I did wrong and what I can do better to improve overall.

    As for the Organic Intersections, I re-did a page and I think I got the hang of it, the fact that the sausages have weight and taking gravity into account is a bit hard to wrap your head around, but I'm not sure if I did better or worse this time. Also, I've noticed that I'm doing all my sausages in one stroke, I'm not sure if that's a mistake or not but it seems very limiting and I think I took the Lesson 1 Note "don't chicken scratch'' too seriously. Let me know what you think and whether or not I should do another page of Organic Intersections!

    Thank you sincerely for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I'll shortly be moving on to Lesson 2.

    I was a bit afraid to make superimposed lines because I thought it would make the box a bit wonky, but I'll try it a couple of times and see how it goes.

    I'll also keep experimenting with different boxes to kind of get the hang of it a little bit more for shallower rates of foreshortening and the orientation of the boxes, which I thank you for the reference image, it'll come in handy!

    My pleasure! And that's completely fine, funnily enough I also missed a page or two of my first homework submission, but your ellipses are tight one next to another and there's very little overlapping going on. Good work on those!

    You're ready to go towards the 250 Box Challenge. Good luck and keep up the good work, fella!

    Great work on completing Lesson 1 homework!

    Okay so, I'll break it down for ya in the three sections: lines, ellipses and your boxes;

    1.Lines: GREAT work on your lines so far. There's little to none fraying in the beginning which is good. Confident and accurate lines are also great in the Ghosted Lines exercise. Only one thing I noticed is that there's a little bit of arching which can be caused by not mostly using the shoulder pivot. If you were using the shoulder pivot it can be worth mentioning that you can try and arch consciously to the opposite direction.

    2.Ellipses: Your ellipses also look good. You're drawing through them 2-3 times and they look pretty confident. Only a small note to add in your Tables of Ellipses exercise, is that you should try your best to keep them within the borders and close to the corners, but overall great work!

    3.Boxes: Wonderful job on your boxes. They're overall smooth with almost no serious wobbling whatsoever. Great work on the Rotated Boxes exercise, narrow gaps and good rotation. Organic Perspective also looks really nice, the growth from bigger to small and the boxes rotating are good.

    Genuinely fantastic job on this homework.

    Congrats on completing the Lesson 1 homework! Although you had to switch to a ballpoint halfway that's totally okay, ballpoint works fine in the first lesson and in the 250 Box Challenge, but it is recommended to use a fineliner and you most likely already know.

    Okay so, I'll break it down for ya in the three sections: lines, ellipses and your boxes;

    1.Lines: Overall, your lines look pretty decent and pretty confident.There's little to no fraying in the beginning which is also good. I'm only noticing a little bit of arching in your Super Imposed lines but that's okay.Only remember to ghost with your whole arm, only using your shoulder pivot can lead to a bit of arcing but you could try arching consciously to the opposite direction. We're always focusing on drawing the lines confidently, and accuracy always comes later on!

    2.Ellipses: Your ellipses also look pretty good. You're drawing through them 2 to 3 times which is the way to go and they look pretty confident. The only thing I noticed is that you're missing the 2 Pages of the Tables of Ellipses Exercise, so I heavily recommend doing those before moving on to the 250 Box Challenge.

    3.Boxes: Your boxes overall are good.You're drawing through your boxes as well which is nice. A bit of wobbling on the Rough Perspective Exercise but that's fine as long as you remember that we strive towards confident lines over accurate lines, if you make a wobbly line somewhere it makes it even harder to do the rest of the box.

    Next Steps:

    2 filled pages of the Tables of Ellipses exercise.

A lot of my students use these. The last time I used them was when I was in high school, and at the time I felt that they dried out pretty quickly, though I may have simply been mishandling them. As with all pens, make sure you're capping them when they're not in use, and try not to apply too much pressure. You really only need to be touching the page, not mashing your pen into it.

In terms of line weight, the sizes are pretty weird. 08 corresponds to 0.5mm, which is what I recommend for the drawabox lessons, whereas 05 corresponds to 0.45mm, which is pretty close and can also be used.
