Your drawing looks amazing! I love the colours, they really add dimension

Yes, we can work proffesionally and still learn a lot of things or go back to basics. The fun thing is that you will always find something new or something you had forgotten about. I think a lot of people struggle with being perfect (including myself). Thank you for the reply!

Thank you so much for the feedback!

I will keep it in mind going forward and when I do some more boxes for warm up.

    good job with the homework!

    Next Steps:

Good job on the drawings! I think you are ready for the 250 box challenge.

Try to practice control over your line while doing the challenge. Your lines look confident but try to practice having them stop at the end.

    Thank you for the feedback!

It is really thorough and I know what to focus on.

I had some struggles going through the exercises at first because they are not super exciting but getting constructive feedback like this feels like a reward to work towards.

    Hi!

I also took a really long time completing this lesson (completed it yesterday and took 9 months).

You did a great job! The only critique I would have is to draw through the boxes in the last excersize but they look really good so no problem otherwise.

Now the next rough part the boxes challenge! XD

    Next Steps:

    250 boxes next!

    Hi!

I saw you did not recieve any feedback yet and that you posted this a long time ago. I hope I can help you a bit.

I don’t know how long you took for each exercise but some of these can take some time to concentrate and to focus on the ghosting technique. Try to focus from the very beginning even when it is drawing the table for the excersice. It will put you in the right mindset.

When drawing ellipses really try to ghost the form before putting your pen down. You are best to take your time with that. Try to add some variation in the ellipses.

The boxes seem to be going verry difficult. Inwould reccomend reading through the whole section again. perspective is not easy to take in so a second or even third reading/watching is always helpfull. Take your time for the plotted perspective. The vertical lines should be perpendicular with the horizontal lines and you are using a ruler so make sure the lines are on the vanishing point.

I think you misunderstood the rough perspective excersize. Read the excersice again before trying it. You need the boxes to be in one point perspective and to go to the vanishing point you put on the horizon. When you have the boxes take a ruler and see if they are near or on the vanishing point. At the moment you have a page with boxes on that are not going to the vanishing point and you have not extended the depth lines to see where they are going.

The rotated boxes have the same issues as the rough perspective excersize. The perspective is incorrect so they don’t rotate around the center box.

The organic boxes excersice also seems like a struggle. You really tried your best making them bigger and smaller but the boxes seem to have shifted to pyramids.

I hope the feedback was helpfull. Don’t get discouraged for the boxes. Sometimes you need to do a thing a few times to understand it.

    Next Steps:

For revision you should try the funnel excersize again and try to add more funels and try shifting the degree of the ellips. I would reccomend doing all the excercises for the boxes again. Try reading the perspective explanation let it sink in and read it again the next day before doing the excersizes. Try to work clean when using a ruler so you see what you have done. Read/watch each excersize before making them again.

    Good luck to you!

    hi!

You are drawing with a lot of passion! Being a beginner is great because you will see the fastest improvements at the beginning of learning.

I would give the feedback to take your time with the gosting method and learning to draw from the shoulder. In the first few excercises you can see that you really focused on that but with the last few excercises for the boxes your line is a little bit less confident (I had that same problem because the focus also goes to perspective so it becomes a bit difficult). The rough perspective excersice really relies on ghosting for getting as close to your vanishing point as possible.

The ellipses you drew look great but maybe try to have them be different shapes. Most of them have the same shape and size. Different sizes require different hand movements so it would be great to try this excercise again as a warm up next time. I think you better do the third excersize for the ellipses again (the ellipses in the funnel). Some of the ellipses are not alligned to the minor axis and even though it was optional I would try to change the degree for the ellipses. Try to get some narrow ones to practice the shape for later.

With the organic perspective excersice the boxes are not rotating a lot and they are a bit evenly spaced (almost no overlap). I think you would benefit from trying again and really focus on having more variation in the rotation.

This was my first time giving feedback on the site so I hope it was helpfull and not to much. You are doing great so keep it up!

    Next Steps:

Try looking at the lessons for the funnel excersice and try to do that one again and also try one page of organic perspective again. For the ellipses focus on having them alligned on the minor axis and changing the degree. With the organic perspective try to rotate the boxes.

Ellipse Master Template

Ellipse Master Template

This recommendation is really just for those of you who've reached lesson 6 and onwards.

I haven't found the actual brand you buy to matter much, so you may want to shop around. This one is a "master" template, which will give you a broad range of ellipse degrees and sizes (this one ranges between 0.25 inches and 1.5 inches), and is a good place to start. You may end up finding that this range limits the kinds of ellipses you draw, forcing you to work within those bounds, but it may still be worth it as full sets of ellipse guides can run you quite a bit more, simply due to the sizes and degrees that need to be covered.

No matter which brand of ellipse guide you decide to pick up, make sure they have little markings for the minor axes.
