Hey there!, thanks for the critique.

I Know that Curriculum, I first thought that 2 months were an ok time, but seeing how much it takes to complete an exercise, wait for critique and all that jazz. There's no way you can take your time and do lesson 1-7, the challenges all in 2 months, except if you draw as sloppy as you can and ignore any critique and revisions they may ask

I'm not saying that the curriculum is bad though, but it's important to consider that some things may take more time than others ( and DBA really takes a lot of time )

I can spend a couple of days only doing DAB's exercises without really doing much of personal or fun work, but i would take days of break after a couple of exercises done, sometimes i switch places by taking breaks doing fun work and then going back to DAB

The lines look more confident, theres still arching present but i see more care put in the lines, since i've seen some improvement i'll mark the lesson as complete!

    also, you're welcome.

    Next Steps:

Next steps: I reccomend you to do the 250 box challenge next, as this will help you with markmaking .

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete, and 2 others agree. The student has earned their completion badge for this lesson and should feel confident in moving onto the next lesson.

Hey there! I'm going to give a short critique on the homework you did

    • . You did a good job on this one! As you're doing confident lines here, you're Fraying at one end but thats perfectly normal and with time your lines will become tighter,

    • Ghosted Lines. I see a bit of a problem here, some lines did fine, but i see that the rest of the lines don't start at where they should and a bit of Wobbling Which generally that's due to hesitance and Remember, prioritize confidence over accuracy, take your time and ghost your lines carefully.

    • Elispses. A good job too on those ellipses!, as they are pretty tight and you're drawing through too, Table of ellipses, also a good job fitting the ellipses in the planes, and the funnels the ellipses are alligned too.

    • Plotted perspective: Good job overall but we can see the problem i pointed out on your lines here too, Also a you didn't make the Correction step on the second page

    • Rotated boxes: Congrats for doing this exercise as this is pretty hard to do, you did the exercise right as you rotated the boxes right.

    • Organic perspective: First a pointer, don't correct your lines . You did a ok job overall, but yet again the problem with your lines can be seen here.

Overall you did show confidence in your lines on the Super Imposed Lines, but on the rest of the homework there's a bit of wobbling and arching and you've been missing the dot quite a lot at the start of the lines. so i would like you to do a ghosted planes exercise.

    Next Steps:

1 Page of ghosted planes, but remember, take your time to ghost your lines and try to make your lines confident.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate you taking your time to critique my homework, i was wondering why i was having a hard time to do straight lines, i'm going to keep that in mind, https://imgur.com/a/leOAl3w , i've noticed that taking more time to ghost and not draw the line super fast helps a lot. But oh boy!, wish i could pay you dinner cuz your critique is very well done and very helpful!

The recommendation below is an advertisement. Most of the links here are part of Amazon's affiliate program (unless otherwise stated), which helps support this website. It's also more than that - it's a hand-picked recommendation of something I've used myself. If you're interested, here is a full list.

Drawabox-Tested Fineliners (Pack of 10, $17.50 USD)

Let's be real here for a second: fineliners can get pricey. It varies from brand to brand, store to store, and country to country, but good fineliners like the Staedtler Pigment Liner (my personal brand favourite) can cost an arm and a leg. I remember finding them being sold individually at a Michael's for $4-$5 each. That's highway robbery right there.

Now, we're not a big company ourselves or anything, but we have been in a position to periodically import large batches of pens that we've sourced ourselves - using the wholesale route to keep costs down, and then to split the savings between getting pens to you for cheaper, and setting some aside to one day produce our own.

These pens are each hand-tested (on a little card we include in the package) to avoid sending out any duds (another problem with pens sold in stores). We also checked out a handful of different options before settling on this supplier - mainly looking for pens that were as close to the Staedtler Pigment Liner. If I'm being honest, I think these might even perform a little better, at least for our use case in this course.

We've also tested their longevity. We've found that if we're reasonably gentle with them, we can get through all of Lesson 1, and halfway through the box challenge. We actually had ScyllaStew test them while recording realtime videos of her working through the lesson work, which you can check out here, along with a variety of reviews of other brands.

Now, I will say this - we're only really in a position to make this an attractive offer for those in the continental United States (where we can offer shipping for free). We do ship internationally, but between the shipping prices and shipping times, it's probably not the best offer you can find - though this may depend. We also straight up can't ship to the UK, thanks to some fairly new restrictions they've put into place relating to their Brexit transition. I know that's a bummer - I'm Canadian myself - but hopefully one day we can expand things more meaningfully to the rest of the world.
