First and foremost, congratulations on completing Lesson 1!
Lines Section
Superimposed Lines
There's some wobble with your lines and quite a bit of fraying on both ends but that's not too big of an issue. Make sure to focus on starting your stroke at the same point as the previous stroke to keep to fraying to just one end at least. Line confidence could use some work but that's what warm-ups are for in the future.
Ghosted Lines and Planes
Your lines have are quite wobbly and occasionally arc but that's fine for now. Just remember that it is ok to miss the mark as long as you create a confident stroke. Focus on confidence before you work on accuracy. I can see the improvement in your planes and I'm sure it will only get better from there.
Ellipses Section
Ellipses in Planes
Yet again, focus on confidence and the smoothness of your ellipses. Some of them are a bit deformed and others have been drawn through too many times (The recommended amount is 2-3).
Table of Ellipses
You did well in keeping the ellipses within the bounds of the table and keeping them from overlapping with each other. There are some deformities but again, just focus on confidence over accuracy and take your time when you're ghosting the ellipse you're about to draw as well.
Funnels
Good job with varying the degrees of the ellipses in your funnels. The minor axis goes a bit out of alignment on some of them but overall, I think you did great and I gotta say that one in the center looks particularly confident. Great work!
Boxes
Plotted Perspective
Looks good to me and not much to say other than take care to make sure that the vertical lines are perpendicular to the horizon line though,
Rough Perspective
You did well keeping the lines parallel to the horizon but again, work on your line confidence as a wobbly/arcing line is always undesirable. You'll get better at eyeballing the perspective in time.
Rotated Boxes
This is the bane of every student doing L1. Good job on getting it done! The main boxes that rotate on the vertical and horizontal axis rotate but the ones between those don't rotate. Again, work on your line quality as a fair amount of lines wobble a bit.
Organic Perspective
Your boxes are a bit janky but that's normal since you'll work on that on the 250 box challenge. Sometimes the size doesn't decrease consistently as a box gets farther but again, 250 box challenge will help aid most issues with perspective. Try to space them out too so that it doesn't become cluttered.
Overall, good job again for completing Lesson 1! Before I ask you to move on to the 250 box challenge, I would like to ask you to do 1 page of Ghosted Lines and 1 Page of Ellipses in Planes. . Focus on making clean and confident strokes with little to no wobble, even if it is somewhat inaccurate and do same with Ellipses. I also urge you to reread the lesson articles related or take a gander at Uncomfortable's new videos on Lines , Ghosting, and Planes.
Remember, "A wobbly line is a mistake, no matter how accurate, and a confident line will be correct, as with practice the accuracy will get better." - Elodin
Next Steps:
Reread the lessons or watch Uncomfortable's related videos.
Then do the following:
1 Page of Ghosted Lines
1 Page of Ellipses in Planes
and as a little extra,
1 Page of Organic Perspective wherein I want you to apply what you learned about line confidence.
When you're done, just reply to this critique with your revisions. Cheers!
