Well I don't mind that, I do want more mileage with texture after all, I was thinking I could mimic the same principle of spreading it out if I mixed it in with the 100 treasure chest challenge.

i.e doing 1 texture analysis for every 4 treasure chests I complete.

Oh I thought it was specifally about leaf textures.

it does say "25 texture challange" I misunderstood it.

I guess I just saw the picture of the leaf and assumed it was about drawing leaf textures specfically.

Thanks for the feedback. I took notes and I'll try and be more mindful of the principles of applying cast shadows. This has been something I've struggled with throughout the course.

I am going to tackle the 100 chest challenge and 25 leaf texture challenge next.

Okay I just read over the leaf challange and noticed it said I should have done it over the entire course. Oops

I've decided to draw one leaf texture for every 4 chests I draw as to kinda mimic the principle of the original idea.

Okay, thank you :) I've changed to a zebra pen already (it is a ballpoint dont worry). I don't know if you have those where you are but it's far more consistent. I'm also being more mindful of the weight so hopefully the change will be noticible by the time you or one of the TA's see's the completed work.

No it's definatly a ballpoint pen. Does seem to leak a bit though whilst drawing.

I took a picture and did some lines and dots on this page so you could see.

    Thank you for the feedback.

I should probabbly add that I did use a ballpoint pen for this excerseise, I must have a bad tendancy to go over everything and make it all quite dark. I'll have to pay attention to this if I get the oppurtunity to draw in ball point again during the course.

As for the texture and detail feedback, i've made notes and i'll be refereing back to them when doing my warm ups and other related work.

I look forward to lesson 7. Cheers :)

Thank you for the feedback, useful as always.

I've made notes of it and I'll be applying what you advised.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Though it was logical I don't think I caught onto the fact that the perfect ellipses (circles in 3d) represented perfect squares in 3D. ( I think I was just so focused on trying to get the ellipses correct. )

Either way I understand that now thank you.

Thank you for the feedback, Ill apply your guidance in my warm ups

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
