    Thanks man,

I see what you mean about the lines, I will have to fight my impulses here nad I will ad starting points to all my lines from now on. I do planes allmost every day as warm up.

Regarding ellipses, they are hard to do, so so hard to do. I totally get what you mean with the symmetrical halves and its something I try to work on all the time I draw them but I havent added an minor axis when I practice I will do that from now on.

The flicking is something I have to really work on its a bad habit that I didnt even think of.

Thanks again now I have more to ad to my almost daily practice.

Just do the exercises as warm up befor you start, you can mix and match as you want you dont have to do all every day.

I usually start with some superimposed lines like 5-10 different length depending on my daily level, sometimes I have to do a whole page be cause it just doesn´t work. I then do some Ghosted planes about 4-6 so I train ghosted lines and plains at ones. After that I do some ellipses in the planes and between my lines in diferent angles of course.

And then I varies with funnels, boxes, perspective.

I do all this on abot one page before starting drawing anything else.

The days I dont do the warm up I really notice a difference in my quality.

If you do this you will notice that you get better on all the parts and the next exercises will be a bit easier as well.

    Superimposed lines:

It looks like you are drawing them a little to fast to be able to follow youre first line. Try to ghost first and aim for the end point. The curved ones are just really hard and there it just needs more practice.

    Ghosted Lines:

It looks like you are drawing your lines a bit to far they should stop at youre end point. They also look a little wavy and not on point. Try to start with some shorter lines about one third of the page and go from there, its hard I know.

    Ghosted Planes:

Same as with the Ghosted Lines your lines are a bit to long and wavy. Try some smaller planes and then go up in size and do them on every warm-up together with the ellipses and you will se improvement fast.

    Tables of Ellipses:

some of youre ellipses are really good and some of them look like you havent concentrated at all. The ones with an agle are mostly good but the more circular ones are not as good but I get it circles are hard.

    Ellipses in planes:

The first page looks a bit sloppy to be honest but the second page looks better.

As with the Ghosted planes, try to make smaller planes to draw your ellipses in and it will be a bit easier and make bigger plans as time goes.

    Funnels:

The shape of the ellipses are a bit uneven but the size growth looks good.

    Plotted Perspective:

There are some mistakes with a lot of the lines not going to there vanishing point try to be a bit more accurate when you use the ruler or paper and try to line it up from point a to point b and then draw your line. If you are using a ruler sometimes the pen will add a bit of with so the line will be drawn a little of, have that in consideration.

    Rough perspective:

Try to draw your boxes a bit more precise and ghost the corners to the vanishing point.

    Rotated Boxes:

I think you need to read the exercise again to understand what to do. The middle part looks ok but the sides are way way of. Reed the exercise again and take youre time doing this one, I think it took me about an hour to do the whole thing the first time I did it.

    Organic perspective

You get this one, however you play it a bit safe here, try to make the ones in the front a lot bigger and the ones in the back as small as you can but they still look like boxes. I struggle with the exact same things when I do this exercise.

Over all a good start but I would recommend to draw alot more lines every day, do the first 3 exercises for 15-30 minutes everyday and then draw alot of ellipses as well.

I would recomend you to take an extra look at the perspective part again. I know it can be a bit tedious but its such a fundamental thing and when you know how it works everything will feel a bit easier.

I hope this helps and if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

The Art of Brom

The Art of Brom

Here we're getting into the subjective - Gerald Brom is one of my favourite artists (and a pretty fantastic novelist!). That said, if I recommended art books just for the beautiful images contained therein, my list of recommendations would be miles long.

The reason this book is close to my heart is because of its introduction, where Brom goes explains in detail just how he went from being an army brat to one of the most highly respected dark fantasy artists in the world today. I believe that one's work is flavoured by their life's experiences, and discovering the roots from which other artists hail can help give one perspective on their own beginnings, and perhaps their eventual destination as well.
