    Good job!

The linework is solid. I specifically see an improvement with the line weight as you go along. Your later boxes just generally look a lot more confident.

If I were you, I'd do some more extreme foreshortening in the future. I think you'd get better at converging at the vanishing point if you tried using some nearer vanishing points.

    But overall, good job!

Your linework is very smooth, nice job on that. I like the way the three back corners converge really well.

One big thing that I noticed is that several of your boxes have horizontal or vertical lines instead of a vanishing point, meaning the boxes are no longer in 3 point perspective. These boxes were supposed to all be 3 point perspective.

As far as I can tell, you only did this for a total of 14 boxes. I don't think that's so many that you need to do a revision (I know I personally messed up way more than 14 boxes). Just keep in mind what perspective you're supposed to be working in.

Wow, there's a really solid improvement visible from the beginning to the end!

The only problem I really see is your line weight - you don't seem to be adding weight to the outside of the boxes very often.

Other than that, the inner line convergences are really good, and overall these are some solid boxes.

Good job on finishing Lesson 1!

    Lines

Your ghosted lines exercise has a very slight arc to it, and your ghosted planes exercise overshoots the mark from both directions a lot. Overall, though, this all looks really good.

    Ellipses

The ellipses inside the planes have a bit of an accuracy problem, but this problem doesn't seem to carry over to the other ellipses exercises. Try practicing inside planes, otherwise you're pretty good with the rest of the ellipses.

    Boxes

The accuracy problem with the lines exercises is still here. Try ghosting a little longer before drawing lines, and see if that helps. Otherwise you seem to have gotten the hang of vanishing points pretty well. The boxes feel very 3-dimensional, that's great.

Overall, you did a good job with everything.

    Good job on Lesson 1!

    Lines

Good job on the lines! The biggest issue is that the superimposed lines are pretty wobbly at parts, but your other ghosted lines look fine, so I'm not sure that's much of an issue anymore. Overall, not much wrong here.

    Ellipses

These are pretty solid, too. You have some accuracy issues, but it's pretty much at the level that you'd expect for a first attempt. Actually, your accuracy is better than mine, I'll admit that. A couple of your ellipses on the funnel exercise look a little diagonal, though. Make sure you're not drawing them at an angle.

    Boxes

On the plotted perspective exercise, you seem to have put some of the boxes too far outside of the circle that the vanishing points form: https://d15v304a6xpq4b.cloudfront.net/lesson_images/202962fd.jpg. Otherwise, you did very good at this one as well. Your lines get a bit wobbly on the early boxes, but you seem to already be improving there.

Overall, this is really good. There's not much to critique here, as far as I can see.

Congrats on finishing Lesson 1! After I took a 3D animation class once, 3D animation is as far as I can tell just pure wizardry and impossible to be done by mortals, so congrats on that too.

    Lines

You're really good at doing confident linework on these exercises. You seem to get better at plotting as the exercises go along, too. The main problem with your lines is that some of them seem to have a pretty significant arc. Make sure you aren't drawing from your wrists.

    Ellipses

Once again, the confidence looks nice. All of these circles are really smooth. The main problem is accuracy - many of your ellipses are too small or kind of trend downward and don't hit the top of the target. You had pretty good accuracy on the funnels exercise, though.

    Boxes

Your accuracy with plotting is still really good, but your lines are less confident here. There's a lot less arcing on this one, though, so good job with that. Your main problem is the rotated box exercise. It seems like you're not using vanishing points for the inner squares in the boxes. (Did I explain that well? You know, the faces that are furthest from the camera are not rotating along with the faces that are closest to the camera.) You seem to have gotten better at this once you reached the outer corners, so I don't think you should redo it or anything, but it might help to pay attention to that.

    Overall, good job.

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

The Art of Blizzard Entertainment

While I have a massive library of non-instructional art books I've collected over the years, there's only a handful that are actually important to me. This is one of them - so much so that I jammed my copy into my overstuffed backpack when flying back from my parents' house just so I could have it at my apartment. My back's been sore for a week.

The reason I hold this book in such high esteem is because of how it puts the relatively new field of game art into perspective, showing how concept art really just started off as crude sketches intended to communicate ideas to storytellers, designers and 3D modelers. How all of this focus on beautiful illustrations is really secondary to the core of a concept artist's job. A real eye-opener.
