I think we are all in one boat :) Hugs and take care!

I read an awsome book 'The artist's way ' and helped me enjoy more the learning process. Maybe this will help.

    Dear WAXWERK,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review this.

I will take in consideration all that you told me, I will practice the Organic Shapes as warm up and I will also make a few more constructions, maybe try to paint themso I can be excited about that. I do not like insects so looking at them made me sick, this did not helped :)).

    Thank you again!

    Hello!

I am glad to hear that you are safe at home now!

Ellipses must be drawn through ellipses 2 to 3 times, (2 times preferably) . This will come in time so do not worry and keep practicing them! :) .

I wish you ''Happy New Year!!''

    Congrats for Lesson 1!!!

    Next Steps:

You can start the 250 Boxes Challenge.

Use the exercises from lesson 1 as warm up before the Boxes session. Try to take breaks when you feel overwhelmed and don't rush.

This community member feels the lesson should be marked as complete. In order for the student to receive their completion badge, this critique will need 2 agreements from other members of the community.

    Hello,

Congrats for the 250 boxes Challenge! it was really hard for me that one :))

I can't critique that one because I am not there yet in my evolution but I looked over it and it looks amazing! So clean and organized. My first boxes were not this good!

    Congrats again!

    Next Steps:

Lesson 1 finished, good luck on the other lessons!

    Hello,

Congrats for completing lesson 1! I will provide critique per category.

    Lines

Lines look a little wobbly, especially in Ghosted Lines and Planes. Using the shoulder and ghosting more will improve this in no time.

    Ellipses

This seem to give you some problems.

Just like with lines, the ellipses must be drawn confidently, prioritizing confidence and smoothness, over accuracy. The Table of Ellipses show that you need more confidence and remember to draw though the ellipse 2-3 time, thing also valid for Funnels. In Ellipses in Planes I can see a small improvement, you tried to draw though the ellipses 2 times, try to be more confident and Ghost more.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective - looks ok, I like that you overlap them.

Rough Perspective - It is a hard one for everyone. I would love to see more confident lines when constructing the boxes but I like that you tried to make the best of it

Rotated Boxes - this looks ok,some of the external boxes are not rotating accordingly. This is a complicated one but you should feel proud that you had the courage to start it and have beautiful results.

Organic Perspective - you will have time to learn more about the box perspective in the 250 boxes challenge. :)

    Next Steps:

I would like to see 1 page of Table of Ellipses.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Dear Fishman,

Overall, it looks ok. I like that you worked really clean. it is no problem that you used the pencil, for the 250 boxes challenge will be useful to have 3 colored pens to help you observe the lines.

    Lines

Superimposed lines look overall ok. The Ghosted Lines and Ghosted Planes have common issues. The lines are a little wobbly, try to use the shoulder pivot and ghost a few times before. This are minor issues, they will improve in time as you will use them as warm up exercises.

    Ellipses

I can not find big mistakes, all will improve in time, as you will practice them. In the Ellipses in planes, it is important that the Ellipse should touch all the sides of the Plane, some of them did not. Try to be more confident, maybe ghost more.

    Boxes

Boxes look pretty good. The exercises look clean and I can see some line improvement. This will help you in the next step.

    Next Steps:

Next step : 250 Boxes Challenge. Good Luck!

Use the exercises from lesson 1 as warm up before the Boxes session. Try to take breaks when you feel overwhelmed and don't rush.

    Hello,

First of all, for future submissions, please try to upload the pages in order. You have an option on Imgur to rearrange the photos before generating the link. This will come in handy at the 250 boxes challenge.

    Lines

In the pages with the Superimposed Lines exercise, most of them look good. The lines will improve in time so keep practicing them as a warm up.

Ghosted Lines exercise and Ghosted Planes - the lines are a little wobbly, you have to be really confident when drawing the line. It is really important to start the line and end it exactly where you have the points. I think if you combine confidence and use the shoulder pivot, they will improve in no time.

    Ellipses

Table of ellipses - I like that you experimented with many angles, most of them look ok, try to Ghost more in order to keep the ellipses between the lines.

Ellipses in Planes and Funnels - the ellipses should touch all the sides of the plane. I believe you need to trust yourself more, be confident when you are making the ellipses. Use the Ghosting method, it helps a lot.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective - looks ok, I like that you overlap them.

Rough Perspective - It is a hard one for everyone. I would love to see more confident lines when constructing the boxes.

Rotated Boxes - this looks good, I would loved to see more boxes. It is a complicated one but you should feel proud that you had the courage to start it and have beautiful results. It looks pretty clean.

Organic Perspective - you will have time to learn more about the box perspective in the 250 boxes challenge. :)

    Next Steps:

Next step : 250 Boxes Challenge. Good luck!

Use the exercises from lesson 1 as warm up before the Boxes sessions. Try to make a few at the time and don't stress. It can be overwhelming sometimes.

    Hello,

First of all, for future submissions, please try to upload the pages in order and Portrait. You have an option on Imgur to rearrange the photos before generating the link, and I guess you can rotate them from the phone. This will come in handy at the 250 boxes challenge.

    Lines

Superimposed Lines exercise, most of them look good. I like that the frying is mostly at the end. I see that you did not try the ''s'' superimposed lines so I will give you this below.

Ghosted Lines exercise and Ghosted Planes - it is really important to start the line and end it exactly where you have the points. The lines are a little wobbly, you have to be really confident when drawing the line. The lines and the ellipses must be drawn confidently, prioritizing confidence and smoothness, over accuracy.

    Ellipses

Table of ellipses -Ellipses are Overall ok. You could have experimented with the angles but they look ok.

Ellipses in Planes - the ellipses should touch all the sides of the plane. Use the Ghosting method, it helps a lot. Most of them do touch all the planes, I am really impressed by this.

Funnels - the funnel ellipses look quite nice, remember that the Ellipses must be drawn through ellipses 2 to 3 times, (2 times preferably). Some of them don't touch the exterior lines, but you can improve this in time.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective - looks really crowded, maybe the lines suggested in the lessons as optional would have helped.

Rough Perspective - You are missing a page. It is a hard one for everyone. I would love to see more confident lines when constructing the boxes.

Rotated Boxes - this looks good, it is a complicated one but you should feel proud that you had the courage to start it and have beautiful results.

Organic Perspective - you will have time to learn more about the box perspective in the 250 boxes challenge. :)

    Next Steps:

I would like to see a page of "S" shape Superimposed lines and one page of Rough Perspective - the one that is missing.

When finished, reply to this critique with your revisions.

    Hello,

First of all, congratulations! I will make the critique per category.

    Lines

In the pages with the Superimposed Lines exercise, most of them look good. The lines will improve in time so keep practicing them as a warm up.

Ghosted Lines exercise - the lines are a little wobbly, you have to be really confident when drawing the line. I think if you combine confidence and use the shoulder pivot, they will improve in no time.

Ghosted Planes - it is really important to start the line and end it exactly where you have the points. I also see some wobbly lines , more confidence could help here too.

    Ellipses

Table of ellipses - Overall it is ok. Try to use them also as warm up exercise.

Ellipses in Planes - the ellipses should touch all the sides of the plane. Use the Ghosting method, it helps a lot and you can also rotate the page if you feel the need, in order to make a good ellipse.

Funnels - the funnel ellipses look quite nice, in some case a see space between them, I believe they should be more compact.

    Boxes

Plotted Perspective - looks ok, I like that you overlap them. I think that the lines on the boxes could improve, I know they are optional but you can use the occasion to practice line accuracy.

Rough Perspective - It is a hard one for everyone. I would love to see more confident lines when constructing the boxes.

Rotated Boxes - this looks good, it is a complicated one but you should feel proud that you had the courage to start it and have beautiful results.

Organic Perspective - you will have time to learn more about the box perspective in the 250 boxes challenge. :)

    Congratulations for the first lesson!!

    Next Steps:

    Next step: 250 boxes Challenge

You can mix some exercises from this lesson as warm up for the 250 boxes challenge. Try to draw the boxes in sessions because sometimes you might get overwhelmed.

    Good Luck!

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

Pentel Pocket Brush Pen

This is a remarkable little pen. Technically speaking, any brush pen of reasonable quality will do, but I'm especially fond of this one. It's incredibly difficult to draw with (especially at first) due to how much your stroke varies based on how much pressure you apply, and how you use it - but at the same time despite this frustration, it's also incredibly fun.

Moreover, due to the challenge of its use, it teaches you a lot about the nuances of one's stroke. These are the kinds of skills that one can carry over to standard felt tip pens, as well as to digital media. Really great for doodling and just enjoying yourself.
